TO notes
This post is about some technical aspects of tournament and league organization here on FUMBBL. If you are not into that then you should probably better to skip it entirely.

We are after this year's Pálinkabowl which made me to test some things mainly regarding permanent Star Players. This post is to share my experiences. You might know how the NAF tournaments handles them: do not spend the price and put a notification in the bio. Together with the assigned skills in the team options not shown on the main page of the teams, I always felt this approach uncomfortable. There is a well hidden View Roster link there which shows the skills but I would not expect anyone to know about that link. I see this as a little barrier for those who are coming from the tabletop scene and are expecting to get a roster sheet from their opponents with all the info. I wanted to overcome that with Pálinkabowl.

With the new league features tournament admins can manually add skills to players and I planned to use that to add all skills the applicants has been set in the Team Options. So initially the ruleset was set with the traditional Predetermined Skill Progression but for every applied team I transferred the allocated skills onto the team sheet by adding every one of them to the appropriate player as a skill reward. I verified my work with the View Roster link, every allocated skills has to get listed twice. I've set all team's TV manually to 1100k and treasury to 0k to avoid inducement dialogs. Naturally, teams with permanent bribes/chefs would get a properly adjusted TV. Once done, I accepted the team and PMed the applicant to any further changes should be done only be contacting me and further changes in the team options will be discarded. This approach has the benefit not only to make the skills visible on the main page of the team but also ensures that the team remains valid to the tournament rules at the time of the draw. Immediately after the draw I changed the ruleset Skill Progression to No Progression.

As for the stars, I cloned the Tier 4 rosters which were allowed to have permanent stars and added all the stars to the rosters as 0-1 positionals. I've tested how these positionals behave when their type is set as Peaked or Star. Peaked is effectively a position specific No Progression flag which is merely cosmetic in a No Progression League but still better pick for a permanent Stap Player than Normal type. I've set some stars as Star type and did some FFB testing. I wanted to prevent accidental apothecary usage on them and as I expected, Peaked can be healed but Star is not. Note that if there is an inducement dialog, these rostered stars can be also induced. As inducement phase was almost entirely exiled from PálinkaBowl, I've decide to go for the Star type. Long story short, do not do that because it will result corrupted replays. I've realized that after two games and set them to Peaked thereafter. So if you trust your coaches to be able to refrain from using apothecary on those stars, go ahead.

And this is the case with sann0638 who approached me with exactly the same concept on a general level. Soon I will clone the necessary rosters for him if he accepts to do the roster management once those are done. It requires some coding because I made the few needed for PálinkaBowl manually but making all 24 teams would be too much of work.

Here is my team: https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=926839
Imagine it as your next opponent in a NAF tournament; nothing is obscure, you see a nice full team sheet.

Note that most stars are still have Star type as I've only fixed the active ones.

not really feasible for 100+ teams and multiple days skills like in the World cup rules, right?

True. You have to transfer all skills manually which is like 5 mins work per team. With some coding I can make a program for myself which does that in seconds when supplied with a team ID but I can not share that and even if I could, it is far from trivial to install and use.
