Star Player pledge level
Some of you don't get into the Stunty forums (shame on you), but want to know who the generous Star Player level supporter was. Well, read on...

Howdy all,
Thanks for being so patient with the Stunty revamp. There is still a lot going on and hopefully it will all be done soon and we can enjoy playing more and discussing skills less. I promised a reveal today, and here it is.

When Chance and Christer did the FUMBBL Dice Kickstarter we had a pledge level to create your own Stunty star. I can now let you know our awesome supporter was Lorebass. Thanks.

...and this is his story.

Even amongst the ranks of great hideous beasts, wild contraptions and all manner of races, Lorebass is still a quite peculiar sight in the Stunty Leeg. When he steps out onto the pitch he receives equal parts applause and awe. For it is beyond belief to see a Dark Elf of such small stature.

As with all Dark Elves who don’t meet the rigid breeding standards of Naggaroth, he was tossed into the sea, likely on a raiding mission against Ulthuan. How the infant managed to survive the ordeal is of legend and only for the gods to know. But survive he did and the baby was brought to Araby originally. The engraved silver bracelet he bore noted his name as Lorebass and it marked him to be of noble lineage. He was raised by a wealthy merchant family whose caravan travelled the Southlands and occasionally into the Old World. The travels with his adopted family made him strong, wise and worldly.

The best part of travelling for Lorebass was by far was the football games. He watched any and all matches he could, from Pygmies playing in the grasslands of the far South to once sneaking into the main stadium in Brettonia to watch a cup final. More than anything he wanted to step onto the pitch and play and he spent every free moment practicing. As he came into adulthood he was still short, but began to play with anyone who would let him while on his travels. Despite his size, others soon learned he did not similarly lack strength or resilience. He quickly made a name for himself across the lands.

By maturity he had become something of legend in his own right amongst in amateur circles he played in. He was approached by head scouts from the Stunty Leeg who, not knowing where to put the talented Dark Elf, said he could choose any team to play for. Instead of choosing one team, Lorebass chose to play for them all. He never forgot his abandonment as an infant and swore he would never be so intolerant himself. His unique attitude and ability now see him playing for anyone who would have him in the greatest stadiums of the land. And just for fun, he still occasionally sneaks in, even when he is playing.

Stats:

Awesome blog! :D

Great player, great cause and the price means he's going to actually get hired fairly frequently. Well done all around, everyone... and congratulations to Lorebass in particular.

I think stats and skills are moderated by being different, fun, and "good" without being overpowered. Can't just be block/tackle/MB in stunty...

Stats and race were chosen by Lorebass. He wanted something he felt reflected himself, and he was very good at not looking for something truly outrageous or overpowered. We worked together on the background and I think it turned out very good.

Of course, awesome artwork is care of Knut_Rockie.

Oh, almost forgot.

Lorebass gets a nice little forum avatar based on his player too. Hopefully he will show it off soon.

First of all he needs a picture on his player profile so that we can check out the similarity... :-D

Why 'stunty'? I mean, I know he's in the stunty leeg... but still. He's not a stunty player. He's a dark elf. They're not stunty.

I'm all for fun but, really, let's keep the total nonsense out of it.
Posted by Lorebass on 2013-02-04 04:21:49
yeah, sadly i rarely allow pictures of myself(would make all you normal people feel badly about yourselfs ^^) but other that the really pointy ears and the angry face is surprisingly close considering i never been shown to knut. have the goatee already and got my hair set to that style yesterday! though its not quite as long!! for the skill sets i figured he had to be sturdy and as he is just a short dark elf he loses the agility4 since he doesnt have long legs but maintains... elfish grace? the thick skill and stand firm shows the sturdiness part and the dive tackle was an extra pinch of maneuverability. Hope that explains it!

nice player, should give him Fan Favourtie too though ;)

he'd be the only player on the site to have the skill.
Posted by liquidorange on 2013-02-04 13:55:00
Agreed! Let's add Fan Favourite - that would make him perfect.
Posted by WhatBall on 2013-02-04 15:12:06
There will be someone with Fan Favourite in the updated stats.

@Chainsaw: Stunty IS about total nonsense, and he IS a Stunty player. Did you even read the background? Best stick the "serious" business of competition BB sir.
Posted by Chainsaw on 2013-02-05 00:51:40
OK, so he is stunty according to the background story.

But he's 6338. Which other stunty player is that?

I know you get the likes of the B&C gobbos, but their high ST is a result of their weapon, not because they are freakily strong.

6336 or 6237 and it might make sense. A well skilled dark elf lino that is stuny? O_o

Oh well :) I don't play stunty leeg [yet] so shan't continue to contest it.

Ok like the fact that he has kick. The player is ambiguous, ie is he a blitzer or a defender? In that I like.

I do think though that the stats need a little tweeking. I would take him down to str2 and give him Dauntless. At the moment he is game on normal stunty players but fodder for chainsaws, bombs and whatever else gets thrown at him.

@Chainsaw: There are plenty of Star Players in Stunty Leeg more powerful than that. We have a ST4 AV9, Block Halfling Mummy. There are two giants with ST6, and a ST7 B&C Mangler who doesn't get sent sent off the pitch for SW. Even with the regular players, the Gnomes have AV8/Thick Skull. There is absolutely nothing overpowered about this player. He doesn't even have Dodge, a big weakness in Stunty.

@delusional: Welcome to FUMBBL. Play some games, have some fun, start a few Stunty teams. :)
