Wednesday Nights are Squash Nights
Every Wednesday I try and get in a game of Squash... you know the game where you whack a black rubber ball up against a wall and get all sweaty running round a small room with white walls. In some ways it does feel like a lunatic asylum as well.

So what has this got to do with Blood Bowl? well pretty much nothing,................... other than the fact that the way I play Blood Bowl is similar to how I play squash.

1. I am not very fit, so the whole running around like a rabbit, bouncing here and there to return the ball is not possible.
2. I am not really built for squash. Being 6'3" and 105kg (230lb or so) means that want to avoid walls and hence try and avoid too much lateral running.
3. Based on 1 & 2, my game consists on trying to win my points with hard to return serves, or going for winners rather than setting up better shots. Which probably to be a little honest is because I am a lazy player.

So my Blood Bowl is similar (although my actual lack of fitness and size doesn't really count).
1. I am just too busy with other "life gets in the way" stuff to practice the mental aspects of the game.
2. Therefore I am too much in the immediate state of the game to plan things out too far... I can barely see through to the end of a turn ;-)
3. I therefore try to go for the high risk, killer blow or unexpected move early rather than stick things out with a steady plan.
4. that wouldn't work anyway since I tend to lose track of which turn it is on.... how can you do that with a turn counter right in front of you?????

However the most important thing is this......

I enjoy my squash, even if I am crap.
I enjoy my Blood Bowl because I am crap. Hence I can get immense pleasure out of every little win during the game and if I draw Fantastic, and if I win... I go and grab a beer to celebrate.

BTW, I broke the strings on my racket tonight and the loners they give you are bloody awful.... just like journeymen ;-)

Looks like you have the right teams for your playstile, but could ad Skaven or elves (no need to think about positioning, just run the pitch for their lives)

I love sketchy, forced analogies! :) It's like getting taken out for ice cream after a Little League game, win or lose!

(personally I've only ever played racquetball, not squash, but a very similar game)

Polemarch you will have enough force behind to force push your oppounent in squash into the wall! Do it!
It is legal, they are not allowed to block your way towards the ball ;)

I have a rule question about squash because i never really understood this game. What stops me from playing the the ball on myself and block the other players way if he wants to take it?
