Wanted - League where Clawpomb dominates
Simple question buried in the Purplechest thread. Does anyone have a league (on fumbbl or elsewhere) where a Clawpomb has dominated? NB blackbox and tournaments are not the answer.

Why on earth do you want a League for that?!

Isn't playing in B enough for you, ya dirty ClawPOMBER? :P

League has not been converted long enough to be dominated by CPOMB. But if you look at the big leagues, you can already see it coming.

Silly billies. I don't want to play in it - someone was looking for evidence that it's a problem in "traditional" leagues. Woodstock - big leagues such as?

I've seen some where they're near the top but not ones where they completely dominate.

Agility dominates in L.

The White Isle League is a UK-Based league with 82 teams. The top division of 10 consists of:
3 High Elves, 1 Wood Elf, 2 Lizards, 1 Amazon, 1 Dwarf, 1 Undead, 1 Chaos Dwarf.

Of these teams, only the CDs could get Claw, and they're looking to be relegated to a lower division.

5 of the 10 teams are semi-immune to claw so if the CD even had it it wouldn't be paying for itself.

The NBFL just went through a round of recruitment and some old coaches swapping out of the teams they had.

And...

5 Chaos teams were created. Granted, that doesn't speak at all to if those teams will wind up dominating or not, but the past history also indicates that the agility teams have a better chance at winning *in* the playoffs, though not necessarily at making the playoffs. On the otherhand Azure was the coach of both a Skaven (omg! they have cpomb too!) and a WE team which did very well. Meaning that Azure is an excellent coach as we know already.

But... now Azure is building a chaos team. How he dominates with them remains to be seen, but one thing is likely, he will not only win with them, but also smash up the opposition at the same time.

I will note, however, that in the 2 seasons the NBFL has had access to CPOMB, while it hasn't been a rampant skill choice until more recently, winners of the Superbowl have been skaven and dark elves. POMB'ers will carve folks up, but AG4 wins ballgames.

Babies Cry.

Ag 4 wins.

Clawpomb Kills.

Lets get our priorities straight.

The Whiskey league loves clawpomb.

At any rate, don't be emo like lizvis. Just play what makes you happy.

its too early to say. Give it a year.

Rated 1 for clouding the claw pomb problem using facts. If we all started looking at facts then where would the world be?
Posted by JimmyFantastic on 2012-06-08 21:58:00
CHaos are the suck for like first 20/30 games so would take a while to dominate, esp with rookie teams in established leagues.
Posted by blader4411 on 2012-06-08 23:21:39
Another consideration: Chaos SUCK at playing upwards in TV, which is what any new team entering an established League has to do. It will take a long time to develop any threatening ClawPOMB squad if they're constantly losing 4-0 to elves or getting beaten up by developed Orcs/Undead/etc.

Clawpomb is probably only broken in a Blackbox type league where teams can play a lot of games and where coaches cannot choose their matches. (In other leagues the full potential of the clawpomb teams is theoretical but rarely achieved - or if it is no-one will play them.) This is why it may not be important for Games Workshop to change the rules but a distinct ruleset for Blackbox may be appropriate. Although in principle a rule change would be good for Blackbox would coaches be satisfied playing in a league with the 'unofficial rules'? I think such a change could lead to Blackbox being viewed as an 'unofficial league' which may be why the change has not already been implemeted.

To answer your question, no I haven't played in a league where clawpomb has dominated the league.
Posted by ClayInfinity on 2012-06-10 12:30:37
The SWL has a racial balance with no more than 3 teams per race across its membership. There is one CD team and one Chaos team that are around the 2000k TV mark but they are in no way "dominating" the league. Both teams were relegated to the 2nd tier.

The current SWL premier league is humans, lizzies and elf's of various types.
Posted by blader4411 on 2012-06-10 13:22:19
I'm surprised to see humans at the top there: although given how good humans are at hunting elves, its maybe not that surprising in the league meta.

the league theory is much more applicable in private leagues that do not have racial restrictions...i think, but not 100% though, that the bigger, established leagues like WIL/SWL have some sort of restrictions on how many of each race can be involved in the system..

clawbomb, on one team, is not a real threat...it just really sucks the few times you have to go against it, and you're probably going to get brutalized, and spend a game or two building back up, at which point you're over the hump, and back to regular matches...

clawbomb on multiple teams is a problem....in leagues with racial restrictions, it's not as big of a problem as it is on those without....
