Aging now optional in BB2, for those interested
From the Cyanide forum:
---
Hi there,

I have some news to share! We discussed a lot about the subject in the last few days, taking into account all your remarks. After some thought, we decided to make the ageing system optionnal for the multiplayer leagues.

As a league administrator, you'll be able to decide if you want to run your league with the ageing system or not. So when you play in a league with the ageing option activated, your players will age and then will retire (and their years of career will be displayed as well as their retirement time). And when you'll play in a league whithout the ageing option activated, your players won't get old (and nothing will be displayed).
Please note that in the solo leagues, the ageing system will remain mandatory.

If you have some questions, about the new ageing system, feel free to ask.

Wow! Results.

Sann for Prime Minister!

What can you do about the deficit? What about immigration?

Can you start a petition to get them to say (a) how much its going to cost upfront, (b) how much extra teams will be (if individually released, or in expansions), and (c) to promise to actually fix bugs this time? Oh, and maybe (d) that they will put in all the stars this time?

If we get all of those things I may be interested...

Uhh-Kay, does Cyanide own the rights to Blood Bowl? Why are they willy nilly changing the rules? I am not on the buzz line with the game. Adding a home made roster (Khorne) is one thing, but now changing the rules? It's ludicrous.

They have a licence to develop a game, that's all that matters. League rules are not exactly the same as the game rules either, after all, we have non-progression BB here now, as well as various other custom tournament formats and rewards. Are they 'ludicrous'?

:(

Keggie, they own the rights for Blood Bowl online, they are not just licensed, GW sold them their rights.

Very unsurprising decision. There was really no other choice to make unless you are completely unphased by your customers, which would be a terrible buisness concept for any company ;).

Wreckage, I think they did have a potential issue to consider here, because unlike FUMBBL, teams can go from private leagues to the public league - this would cause a potential problem with their new marketplace feature. Either they've decided to suck that up or they have something else in mind. But there was at least something to think about here in terms of their meta environment rather than a no-brainer.

Aye, they had their reasons to do what they did in the first place. Still, just picture yourself when you run a company that is trying to sell a product to an online community and it overheats with negative responses. First there is the buisness aspect and for a moment you may decide to not be swayed by popular opinion, even if you know it's a doubtful business decision not to just do what the community wants you to do. But then there is the personal pressure, the hate, the attacks, directed at you and your company and that's about the point where you kind of have to say: Why am I doing this to us? Why am I doing this to my company? Wait a sec, this is not what people want, we have to do it differently.

I mean, i kinda see Cyanide as small middle class business company with a bunch of nice incompetent fellows that just don't seem to get it right and earn a lot of anger because of it. I don't think they want to be hated.

That 'e' is totally unnecessary. That is all I have to say on this matter.

wait wait wait... GW SOLD the rights to Cyanide? Now I've seen everything, I've always known GW not to bend to -anything-...
