So yes, there's only 10 races. And yes, there's some (maybe not quite) minor rules differences and stuff. And there's a different, far more noobish and less communal community, with some very very bad habits regarding concessions. But it looks pretty, it brings a lot of new people to the game (who we're slowly trying to educate into real BB coaches) and they are somehow giving away 10k (that's dollars, not gold pieces) in cash and three gaming computers to people for winning bloodbowl games. Better yet, half the contenders will be from the BB2 equivalent of [L] (with the leagues' respective sizes determining the number of main event spots they can organize their own qualifiers for).

To be honest, I'd be a tad disappointed if the people to take home those prizes weren't mostly fumbblers.

Blood Bowl 2 got me into Blood Bowl but I just can't get myself to play it much now that I've found Fumbbl. That said, that's a pretty bad ass competition. Maybe I'll give it another go.

Oh man, just imagine some of the whining and language in chat if that amount of money is on the line! The teams, I imagine, will be monster freaks. Loads and loads of cpomb and super stat freak elves. A legend fumbbl coach with a great team could clean up with some luck.

I predict 20/0/0, as people can enter as often as they want. If I understand things right, the open ones are only 15 (3 seasons' top 5) of the 64 spots in the main event; which would mean the other 49 spots are awarded via private leagues.

I'm more worried about the luck factor of TV1000 play than the racial effects (but then I'm a dark elf coach ;)

I think 5 teams at 20/0/0 is pretty unlikely. Even if good players are winning 70% of their games (unlikely) to get to a perfect record the odds are 1 in 1,200.

How does BB2 work in terms of match ups? Random, right? Comparable TV?

Dazedmw, you forget that the vast majority of cyanide coaches are pretty rookie-ish. My dark elves there went 62/2/0 before their first loss (I was drunk; it wasn't pretty), and my skaven are 26/0/0 atm (though they're really 25/0/1; silly concession); Jimmy has two 23/0/0 elf teams in the rankings. The realistic win % of the top coaches really depends on the degree to which those newer coaches will be entering the competition. Also, remember that you can play in it as much as you like, so that anyone who suffers a tie in their first 10 games can just remake and try again.

But will the vast majority of the coaches be rookie-ish in the WC? I am working on the theory that a significant number of experienced coaches will be looking to play that would not otherwise have purchased BB2. At least that is my experience in my social group.

Anyway, the proof will be in the pudding. Certainly it will be interesting to see! :)
