DLE Newsflash: Local talent shows the way as Carroburg climbs to the top of the division
With the away win against Hargendorf unicorns, our favourite team reclaimed their position as head of the SHC North division. And local talent showed the way today in the tight win. We turn to Our reporters in Hargendorf!

Hertha: "Here in Hargendorf, the game is just over, and we have met two of todays heroes!" She turns to the tall, slender and dark-haired wide receiver. "Nicola, you scored the only TD tonight! Tell us about that!"

Nicola: "Well... with TJ out with a broken arm, responsibility for running with the ball fell on my shoulders tonight. This time, it wasn't very hard, though!" She grins. "The guys blocking in front of me were just fabulous, blasting away the oppponents, so all I had to do was to catch the quick pass from Anders, and then run."

Günther: "So you added a 15 square rush and a TD, to bring you to 37 and 3 TDs. That's not bad for a back-up catcher?"

Nicola: "I Guess not :) I'm doing pretty well compared to other back-up catchers in the division. Grizzlies frequently use Jace (Amaro, blitzer) to run the ball, so their catchers don't have the big numbers, and the Vikings have been playing badly after the break, and so their catchers haven't had much of a chance to shine either. And Wolfskins do have Pierre Garcon, of course, but Art is mostly doing fouls, not TDs, and Darrell is still at his single TD against the Grizzlies. So Yeah..., I'm doing pretty well :). Particularly when you keep in mind I have missed out a couple of matches due to injuries this season."

Günther: "And you were in trouble again in the second half tonight, weren't you?"

Nicola: "Yeah. That was at the end of the match. We still held the lead, but the Unicorns were putting on the pressure and thankfully Rathman (Unicorn blitzer) chose to go for it, and tripped. That's one big bruiser of a man, and I don't think we could have stopped him if he hadn't. But his tripping up knocked the ball loose, and Anders was there quickly and tossed the ball to me... and I was in a total quandary as to what to do with it... Coach screamed to me to run for it, but Althoff and Ballard told me to stick close to them, and I decided to listen to them. Of course that earned me one in the face as I was blitzed by Scruggs, and I had to leave the field. At first we thought it might have been the collarbone, but the dwarf quack Coach keeps around for these cases told me it was only a bruise, and I was going to be OK. Shoulder sure dosen't feel like it's going to be right anytime soon, though..." Nicola grimaces and touches her left shoulder pad. "I still think it was the right call, though. We looked at the replay, and there would have been no one to protect me and Scruggs is skilled at stripping the ball away, so if I had gotten through, it would have been sheer Luck and at worst they would have Nimble to pick up the ball and pass it to Rathman, and would have gotten their draw."

Hertha: Turns to the huge and rugged man beside her."We have another local hero here with us today. Dietmar, you struggled in the start of the season, but now you have gotten some traction. Three more casualties tonight, to add to the four you have from before. How do you feel about that?"

Dietmar (Althoff): Grins wolfishly. "I'm happy as long as the Coach don't ask me to run with the ball" (Dietmar got sacked in the last game while trying to stall against the Wolfskins)

Günther: "But you must admit to being a powerhouse out there today. One kill, two other casualties and one KO in 13 Blocks. That's excellent numbers by anyone's standards! And you were also the one to make the two critical blocks when Nimble was almost through to the goal line. First sacking Nimble and KO'ing him to free the ball, and then killing Wolven as he tried to nab it away from your tackle zone and Complete the TD run."

Dietmar: Grins widely. "That's the best time for a blitzer like me, when you succeed in doing your assigned job and really make a difference for the team."

Hertha: "And now the divisional championship will be decided in your home match against the Vikings?"

Nicola: "For sure. The winner in this match will almost certainly win the division. And if it ends in a draw, we will probably have the advantage being one game ahead, even though the Vikings have easier opposition in the final two games than we do. At least on paper. " Nicola grins broadly to all the viewers. "We'll do our best, though, so if you wonder about going to the match, I assure you it will be worth watching. Be there, and you won't miss out!"

Excellent stuff. We've had a tough time recently, but for tonight's game we are getting ready to step up our game. Looking forward to hearing the fans scream "Thump!" as we tear through the ranks of the Cascade.

Was an interesting game but not for the reasons Carroburger envisioned.
