If you want to create a bunch of cpomb teams and cherry pick humans all day, I recommend box.

For anything else, I recommend Ranked.

You should probably play Ranked at first.

Box division is more competitive.

Though both is not a bad idea.

(And if you think the box is filled with nothing but clawpomb, I suggest you ignore people who are making statements based on their inability to compete in an environment where they don't get to pick their opponents, and look at the activation page, and see all of the latest box matches. You'll find most or all teams represented).

This isn't a box vs ranked issue per-se. The OP wants to know which team will be better to continue his FC team. We I think, can make a better question out of that and "which division would be better to build a team for the FC."

That's difficult, most likely ranked, unless you go bashy. I'd probably just build your humans though. I get the feeling you're going to find whatever you decide a tough task.

In fact, I really thought about reactivating my Human Team...however the last match I have been cherry picked by a low-TV ClawPOMBer (9 or 10 rookies, 2 CPOMBs, if my memories don't fail me).
So I really gonna need 1-2 matches to (hopefully :D ) rebuild my team.....3 journeymen for my next match...lol.

If I reactivate my Humans, it would be obviously ranked. But I should create a box (non Human-)team just to have the choice...ahhh...decisions, decisions...

fun fact: Ark's Box w/l record is 44 - 22 in the box. 66% win ratio

in ranked, my ratio is 52%

Being able to decline a BS match is why Ranked is a more competitive environment. Not going to name and shame, but there's a few coaches who's CR skyrocketed after they stopped playing in R and started up claw teams in B. Dig around, you'll find em.

Box games played: 70 win rate 58%

No need to be expert in statistics to say that you can't compare two win rates based on such different numbers of matches played.
If you played 4076 matches in the Box I suspect your win rate would drop under 58%.
Anyway, being able to avoid the hard match-ups is exactly what makes something less competitive.
A true coach must be ready to face any kind of match.
Box is the only true division for true coaches.
Cherrypicking and dodging matches is clearly not competitive.
About lack of variety in the Box: TV 1000-1500 has a good variety of teams, but if you play at higher TV the chance of finding a clawpomb spam team increases a lot.

70 degrees of freedom will produce a decent confidence interval for the Box data. Bottomline: The data demonstrates the opposite of Bill's snide comment.

One man's "hard match-up" is another man's cake walk. Therefore if you want to reduce cherrypicking (if the teams were reversed you would not play) you need a mechanism that evens out the matches as much as possible. Ranked has a mechanism to do this. Box once had a mechanism called BBR and Bash rating, but they were removed.

The only way Box can be as competitive as Ranked is either A) mandate all box coaches have one of each team race roster and must activate all of them. This will average out the hard and easy match ups for everyone. or B) everyone makes the same tier one basher team (as I suggested above) and Box becomes 100% mirror matches.

You'll find the data agrees. How quickly can a cherrypicker get to 1000 games with a cpomb chaos team? Smacking up tomato can opponents all day in the Box? How fast can a Ranked cherrypicker achieve 1000 tomato can games in Ranked with his cpomb chaos team?

Research the data before answering.

Also, if you think Box is more competitive, show me a clawphile coach who's CR dropped when he went from Ranked to Box, or rose when he stopped cpombing in the Box and transferred to Rank play. I can show you the opposite (won't here due to rules) if you want me to pm them to you.

You can say whatever you wish, but if the data doesn't agree with your hypothesis, I'm going to have to call "checkmate" on this.

by the way, the goal of bloodbowl is to have fun. Therefore the "true" division is the one where the party is found...ie where people keep wanting to play again and again.

If Box was the "true" division, why does it constantly need rescuing by adopting more and more Ranked features instead of the opposite?
