Thanks Cyanide... But I'm Back!
Greetings fellow Fumbblers!

Been gone for a while and I have a confession to make. I love Blood Bowl!

I love watching and playing and chatting about Blood Bowl. And it seems this obsession will not go away. See, I believe every person has something game or pleasure in their lives that they love to do and will try to do as much as possible. Whether its reading detective fiction or watching horror flicks, figuring out crossword puzzles and Sudokus, or enjoying other traditional nerd faves like fantasy football, Pokemon, Doctor Who, M:tG, or worse- physical activities like running or working out... I always come back to Blood Bowl.

I used to enjoy other things too- like playing Euchre, or beer pong, or a game of HORSE, or reading a new book every month. But the more I fell out of love with these other, frivolous activities, the more Blood Bowl stayed with me. The more personal issues that could come up, Blood Bowl would bring me back to health.

Late last year, I purchased the Cyanide BB and I like to a fault. Its great that its real for me again with all the new rules and colorful, action-packed games. The campaign mode is alright, if you don't the lacking intelligence of the AI. But the truest fault is that there is no community to stand with. I just joined a league and I think it will be fun. There is a mixed bag of experienced players and noobs. They use the Steam chat and VOIP chats to make games more fun. That's all well and good. But here on Fumbbl it's just different, and I appreciate that!

But I've been missing Fumbbl a lot. Here on Fumbbl I have found some of the best people to play with and against. Coaches that could laugh when their Superstar 2d skulls out without a RR. Coaches that cry for loving their best players too much. Coaches that coddle others to keep them in a league just so there's an extra marshmallow to defeat. Coaches that are genuinely the nicest people who I will likely never have a beer with, but I would count them as my friends. So big thanks to Nightbird, Churchill, blocknroll, captainmalkor, princevaliant, MegaDreg, nazgob, Sigmar1, tzilacatzin, and many others I've played in BB7's and otherwise.

So I'm going to continue playing my league on Steam (user id ConcordeDan) and Cyanide (coach Impaladan), but I want to play more on Fumbbl. I will play on Fumbbl. And I want to play you all on Fumbbl!

- Dan

Hey, have you thought about joining up with the NCBB? The Non-AQ will be starting a new season this Spring, good place to get back into the swing of things!

FUMBBL is a great community, but has too few users.

Welcome back buddy (formally FMSTAN)

I bought the Cyanide game. Then I realized I was zooming out all the time to see the pitch, I was missing the ability to write reports and personalize the team, I was missing this and that... and I came back to Fumbbl. The money is well spent maybe ("thanks Cyanide!") but it's much more fun to be here at Fumbbl :) I think I should donate again :D

Night- I have some teams I've transferred that will be ready to play. Let's make it a date!

JackassRampant- I will likely be looking for a league and the NCBB looks inviting. I'm in the US, so a NA league is a must for me

FMSTAN and blocknroll and Garion- thanks for kind greetings, look forward to seeing your teams on the pitch

And Cyanide isn't horrible. I enjoy playing it, but there is a lot of zooming and difficult camera angles. The games helps a bit with numbers and movement paths, but if you've been playing a while, its unnecessary. The Client is fine, I suppose I just have more issue with the framework of the internet leagues being so hard to use. The chat is limited and impersonal. To check out a coach or their teams there is a lot of extra clicking. And then to simply exit, you have to go back to the start almost every time. It's cumbersome.

On the Cyanide game you may find an opponent whenever you want very quickly, even during european night time, and you don't have to wait 15 minutes for the next activation.
Never had issues with zooming and difficult camera angles (I misclicked the odd player sometimes, but it was an occurrence as rare as misclicking on the FUMBBL 2d client) and the 3d made the game experience closer to the tabletop and way more immersive.
You can set 2 minutes turns (that's great to keep a match duration roughly within the bounds of 1 hour) and nobody flames you when the turn time's up because the time out is enforced automatically by the game.
The big drawbacks are that if your connection/pc fails you will lose the match, and the game is not yet fully rule-compliant (missing Star Players, Slann and Chaos Pact).

Cyanide game is good.
The "in game" interface is well made (Fumbbl overview is a bit more clear though).
The auto timer is great indeed.
But in the end I like better Fumbbl for the ability to play the 3 missing races and the possibility to write about/customize your team (in fact all the flux side of the game).
Just show how much Fumbbl is awesome instead of Cyanide being bad IMO.

Not that you can customize your team so much... ok you can add portraits, bio, logos, but the 2d sprites are ever the same and they don't even change when the players level up.
On Cyanide at least the player models get a minimal customization and better armours/clothes/visual representation of the mutations they have.
In my opinion two reasons that keep many people off FUMBBL are the ugly (for them) 2d graphics of the client and the difficulty of finding quickly a match, while FUMBBL is way better in every other aspect of the game and team management.
