Ahhh... makes me long for the days of 2nd edition where friends of mine and I added a +1 to fouls for "spearing" - that is, getting a running start and making your guy prone at the end of the foul.

Those were the good ol' days....

Fouls are indeed part of the game I used to hate them but now I know that fouls are for that extra "oomf" on guys you don't want to get back up (they're almost esential with my high elves) though there is such a thing as too much fouling, but as I said it's a part of the game.

You know it's funny this blog comes out now. What you are saying is, that if their was more chance of the person commiting the foul to get hurt, then would that person still commit it. Well the NFL is talking about the same thing. If players didn't have a face mask, like in the old days, would they still be launching themselves, head first, at opponnets heads? I think not. I happen to agree w/ Joe Pa in that if the NFL would take away some of the protective equipment we'd see less players taking those types of risks. Something to make you think as research shows that w/ less protective equipment people are less prone to take such risks.

No, this is not about getting hurt at all.

Actually what he's saying is that 'foul' could just be called something without negative connotations but with the identical game mechanism (chance of acting player being out for the remainder of the match). The question if it would then cause the same kind of negative responses is pretty valid (and alas completely hypothetical since it's not gonna happen :)).

If I got 2 spp for everytime the fouler was sent off after a foul against my prone player I would kinda like to get fouled more often.

in lrb4, people have a problem with foul for the same reason as they have a problem with blitz kick-off results and dwarf teams.... they are broken
