Already a handful of us are in the Champion1 to 2 range, there's a new expansion coming out next month, and they are fixing some 'broken' cards and making the economy likely better for newer players.

Focus on heroes and uniques, as getting only 1 is all you need.
After that focus on epics and rares which you want multiple copies of.
