SWL Season 15: Premier Game 4

The start of das Festival des Elfs.

Germany began with intent, Alfred Rosenberg laying in the boot hard, and a quick score. Things kind of went off the boil after that, the Vermin didn't land alot of their blocks, but Nuffle wasn't kind to the Dark Elves, and eventually Germany scraped away with a 2-1 victory that seemed uncertain. These Duskriders will cause many a concern in the future.

Twahnlow Votes
3 votes- #8 Duskwind Strongarm: Wow. Came up with a blinder of a game, threw some huge passes, and survived some pretty close German attention. Superstar.

2 votes- #4 Darkblood Dreadwing: Work horse. Rolled up the sleeves and did the hard yards. If Strongarm couldn't be MVP, Darkblood was a good choice.

1 vote- #1 Slyblade Spite IV: The Duskriders are well served by some tough elves. Spite wasn't afraid to sweat a little, and hard work gets remembered in Vermin Twahnlow votes.

#2 Snide Fatelack – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#2 Snide Fatelack – Smashed Knee (NI)
Ever have those games you go into with a fatalistic attitude just knowing its going to turn to custard? This was one of those, which when I look back afterward at a few play errors I made, that attitude probably affected me. Having had my arse handed to me with a supposedly 'hard' Orc team vs some not very threatening Skaven in ranked earlier in the evening I wasn't in the best frame of mind and maybe shouldn't have played.

My intial foreboding was promptly confirmed as Direbringer sat out the game due to his niggling injury, our two handicaps being nothing special, immediately conceding a casualty on the LOS and having to apo a RIP from a first turn foul. Not an auspiscious start ! Down by a TD after two turns not much better.

I felt on the backfoot throughout the game and we hung in there but much of what we managed was out of desperation rather than anything else. We were thoroughly out-bashed. Thanks to Strongams superb throwing we did get an equaliser late in the first half to set up a tense second half.
Why it got tense I don't really know. We managed to stave off a couple of skaven TD attempts but we never really threatened a win and might actually have secured an undeserved draw except for a failed GFI for the endzone late in the second. :(

If it hadn't have been for some failed pickups by the rats the score would have blown out much more so the score doesn't really reflect the closeness of the contest in the end.

Twhanlows

3 Points. Matt Tinsen. He did most of the blocking and most of the damage. To many stuns or KO's to mention, he was a right royal pain in the b ....!
2 Points. Kaiser Wilhem. Tackle zones? What tackle zones! He traipsed through multiple tackle zones like they didn't exist. Irritated me no end with his ability to get close to the loose ball when he had no right to get there. Shadowing wasn't my friend either.
1 Point. Carl Jung. Got in some useful blitzes on my ball carriers with dauntless skill and another one who treated TZs with contempt.

Note to self - Dont' get another WE. A niggle on debut is a good way to waste much needed cash :(

Congratulations Symmetrical. I look forward to another meeting.
