Mystery Inc and the Case of theMoat Mosnter.

At midfield Kondor and Coach Rbthma shook hands. No one could have predicted that this match would go this way. The coaching was superb on both sides of the field, but as is often the case in Blood Bowl, Nuffle was in firm control. In the end only a failed dodge prevented the equalizer.

Now, sitting at the feat of the coaches, surrounded by both teams sat the reason Mystery Inc. had come to this back water hamlet. There had been reports of a moat monster that would weigh lay passing halflings and then bound off into castle moat. The report did not add up. Why would a moat monster be content with frightening halflings when the pudgy little fellas would make a wonderful meal?

Shaggy was the first to notice the problem. “Zikes!” he said. “That moat monster did not even leave a Halfling tartlet. He ate everything.”

At that point it was clear that it was no monster, but the most likely culprit would then be Slann. With their spindly legs, the reports of hopping and swimming naturally pointed at them. Since the Midnight Croakers were the only slann known to inhabit the region it was logical for Mystery Inc to schedule a match and continue the investigation.

Midway through the investigation Velma noticed a problem with the star blitzer Xiuhcoatl. He was slightly smaller than his teammate and yet he hit like a mule. When Daphne stopped to help up a catcher that looked injured he hit her hard enough to knock her out of the game. And then it clicked and she had her answer.

Now with Xiuhcoatl at their feet Rbthma could take no more. “Tell me what this is all about!”

“Simple.” Said Velma. Xiuhcoatl is your Moat Monster but really he is not even a slann he is…

Everyone gasped as Fred pulled loose a slann hood on Ziuhcoatl to reveal… “The WATERBOY!??” everyone shouted in a combination of shock an disbelief.

Velma continued. “Meet Robert ‘Bobby’ Boucher. He is a professional waterboy who always wanted to play Blood Bowl. He had his chance when he found some springs that would allow him to hop like a slann and nice frog costume that was on sale at the team accessory stand. My guess is that he could not stomach eating giant roaches, crickets, and mosquitos like the rest of the team so he concocted a plan to ambush traveling halflings. Unfortunately when he hit Daphne he gave himself away. No slann ever punches. Their arms have no power. If they are going to block you, it will be with a swift kick. The brass knuckles “Xiuhcoatl” wore turned out to be more than just for show. It was then that I realized he was not a Slann.”

Bobby looked dejected and shrugged. “I would have gotten away with it to if it were not for you kids and this miserable mutt.”

And with that Mystery Inc closed the Case of the Moat Monster.
