#9 Bumblebee Pollenhunter – Dead (RIP) #20 Tristan Whitefield – Dead (RIP)
“Boy, this rebuilding business is hard. These linemen just keep on dying, and in this match, not only did I have a lineman killed and revived to play against me, but I also had a journeyman killed after he'd scored two touchdowns. AND the tree was badly hurt, after barely putting in an appearance.
But apart from that, this was a really fun game. With the tree out and nothing to lose, I started being cheeky with my passing plays. My first score was yet another line of scrimmage-to-endzone pass and my second, after the thrower was KOd, was an unbelievably cheeky loner-to-loner pass.
At 2-1 down my next task was basically doing whatever I could to delay the undead advance and there followed a whole series of extremely lucky dodges and 1-dice blocks. By this time I only had four players left on the field so I was never going to prevent the TD, but I did manage to delay it until turn 6, so that I only had to keep the ball away from the faster undead players for two turns.
And this I managed by throwing a pass to my only blodger, even though he was in the TZ of the tackling wolf. The pass missed, but the bounce came right back to the lineman who rerolled the failed catch and caught it. I then dodged two more loners several times to provide cover, and despite his best efforts, Eomer just couldn't bring the ball-carrier down.
So a very lucky draw. Pretty much everything went my way except the injury rolls and the two disappointing deaths, and Thursdaynight even picked up the MVP despite being on the field for no more than two turns. Well, that's trees for you.
So yet another top passing game from the team that isn't supposed to do that sort of thing. It's obviously destiny. Why fight it?”
