A vital match for both teams here as the vital position of 4th on the Premiership ladder would likely be decided with the result. A world of difference between finishing 4th in the Premiership and finishing 5th, a difference that would mean either another season at the top or else demotion back to the Conferences where both teams had risen from at season's start...

Carlton had decided to add a little muscle to their front line in the form of Zug the Mighty, to help them battle it out toe to toe against the reputed viciousness of their opponents. Vermin likewise had thrown down some cash to improve their chances and a venerable grey seer had come to watch his children.

It was a hard fought battle for Carlton, who were on the back foot right from the get go and found themselves 2-1 down and kicking off at the beginning of the second half. It certainly didn't help that two of their superstar trio were missing the game (again!), leaving Duke unsupported.

There wasn't much hope left until a rare fumble from the Rats in a passing play left the ball exposed on the left flank. The Duke was quick to respond, and snatched the ball up muscling his way down the field unchallanged. Who on this team of Vermin could really expect to challenge the Duke anyhow, one might ask? Well, it came down to the wire in the last seconds of the game when a desperate spearhead blitz from young Gutter Runner Steffi Graf stunned Carlton's hero on the line, leaving it to fellow veteran Adam Yardley to dash foward and slam one home for the vital draw right on the whistle!

TWAHNLOW VOTES

3 Votes - #16 Steffi Graf
Mainly for the last brave and desperate blitz that almost won the game for Vermin, but also for the TD and for generally being a superspeedy thorn in Carlton's side all game.

2 Votes - #2 Klaus Barbie
This under-mutated superstar still packs plenty of punch and was right in the thick of it all game, mixing it with whomever came his way and downing people in several key plays.

1 Vote - #5 Manfred Von Richthofen
A truly fearsome thrower, I've seen few better. Fast, reliable, accurate, and tougher than his complete lack of combat skills would suggest. Would have got more except I'm unfairly blaming him for the failed catch of Wolfgang that turned the game around. It must have been the uncharacteristic fumble on the pickup the turn before that threw Wolfgang off...

The supposedly wonderful & heroic Carlton United today managed a draw against the German Vermin. German fans would be justified in thinking the game should have gone their way, and if it wasn't for some stupidity from their coach, misclicking a blitz, they would likely be in Premier for Season 11. Instead, the cowardly Duke & his fairy friends will almost certainly take their place. Germany shall neither forgive, nor forget.

3 Points - Duke Stallfield
2 Points - Adam Hawking Yarley
1 Point - Paul 'Cleave' Pacman
