#7 The Walrus – Dead (RIP)
#14 Hopp'n M'Broomstick – Dead (RIP)
Kazi (Snorriheim assistant coach) bursts into the Vanguard's locker room post match!

"lads......Lads!"

His excitement bounces into the vacuum where its smothered and left to die a horribly lonesome death in a corner somewhere. The boys from VOTSA are spent and to be honest, there'd be more life in a khemri locker room.

With a win and their hopes of a possible premiership win around the corner boosted significantly, the lads ought to be riding a high. Im sure they'll come good later, but this game was such a high intensity affair, there's simply nothing left!

At turn 10 they'd been bruised and battered - Walrus' mascotish ways will be missed and the Hopp'n Sisters will no longer torment the opposition in tandem - but still they looked to be storming home with a 3-0 lead. But they'd done their dash. The boys in blue had come out hitting hard, even if they hadn't made it on the scoreboard yet and they finally found their second wind. A regulation try to Carlton, followed by a blitz for another try and then a dashing move by who else...the Duke...to dodge through the Vanguard defence, strip the ball with a daring 1d block, all done with such finesse the ball popped into the crowd and almost into the hands of his catcher. A dash downfield with half the team and the unassailable 3-0 lead looked gone for all money. But the lads hung in there and some fancy work by the new guy as well as some uncharecteristic blitzing by Blind Navigator saved the match!

Very tense game! A very spirited fightback by Carlton and always an honour to play them.

Post match the celebration was all too brief as Walrus' and Hopp'n's jerseys were packed away. Blind Navigator and Arctic Squall also limped in shortly after carrying their first niggling injuries. Too many games between them. The age of the team is starting to show after two seasons in the Premier Division...

3pts: #1 Duke Snakefield
Who else? Could hardly drop the prat boy all game. Not to mention he was always where he needed to be and then there was the dazzling maneuvre in turn 14 to almost steal the win from the Vanguard! That alone was worth at least 3pts!

2pts: #2 Paul 'Cleave' Pacman
Made a literal mess of the Vanguard

1pt: #1 Stoney Dan
This was a tough pick. It was a two man show all game. Stoney though, was mostly reliable and even chipped in with a cas. Top bloke...err ogre!

With Carlton's season hopes on the line with this match, after a poor start to the Season had seen them struggling to get out of the bottom half all season, nerves were running riot in the locker room before the game.

The Duke's plan was simple;
"It's faith that will pull us through today boys. It's faith that pulls us through the hard times and faith that has brought us to the Premier League where we find ourselves fighting the good fight today! So... y'all know where your faith is best put now don't ya? If you get that ball in your hands, you just give it to the Man, a'right? Put your faith in me lads, I'll sort out the rest!"

Grim determination was in the eyes of every man as they ran onto the field, except for Stoney. His eyes were glazed over from the contents of what was formerly contained in the 16 barrels of special brew now lying empty in the back of the rooms.
"Grrarrrhhuuuull!!" he added with too much enthusiasm.

Right from the word go it was looking to be a bloody affair, with Paul Pacman seemingly on a one man purification of the once noble elven race. His first victim, Storm Warden, was able to be saved by the vile Darkie magics but there was no saving Hopp'n M'Broomstick later in the match as he once more showed the crowd his signature 'Cleave'.
With Vanguard's team mascot, The Walrus, accidentally getting in the way of Chris Gumble's right boot 37 times, they were both sent off. Chris would be returning to play next week however, whereas the Vanguard were wishing they'd hired a necromancer instead of a wizard for this game!

Their numbers started to count for them in the second half, as the Duke took command of the show, dazzling the sensitive eyes of the pale skinned Elves with the brilliance of his performance.
Their lacklustre efforts in the first half were too great a hurdle to overcome however, and although it looked like they might manage a draw towards the final siren, it was not to be.

Good win from Vanguard again. They're a top notch outfit and we know they'll bounce back from the horror of this game intact.
Snorri, mate, great game. :)

I think throwers rarely get credit for being great, especially elven ones. Everyone just goes "yeah, he picked it up and threw it five hundred timeswith unbelievable accuracy, so?" and overlook them. The Navigator though does this with no eyes and he never failed at the critical moment, throwing the whole game out the window. Further, he went above and beyond the dictates of his position with a great defensive tackle at the end to prevent the draw.

A very handy performance from the Lineman. Nice TD in the first half and impressive coverage throughout the game. He'll be kicking himself for niggling on his third skill, but at least he's got the talent now to make his kick accurate! ;)

Ooooh, if only we could have killed this one too! Hopping all over the field like Frogger, no line could hold him. We gifted him his touchdown, but he was the man for the job and made a mockery of our attempt to make amends for our mistakes.
