#7 Ammon – Dead (RIP)
#13 Methras – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#13 Methras – Smashed Hip (-MA)
Well our first season comes to a close. 4 Wins 3 losses (all 2-1 against harder sides) and generally up against foes lightyears ahead of us in team development. This game was always goin to be tough. despite the bribes from the Fast Fossils to give them a shot at the title by winning here, victory was sadly beyond the "Echoes" players. Congratulations are extended to Thawt and his men for winning Mr Whippy's Donut Emporium Regional League XII. We should be in a better position to challenge next season. This game wasnt so bad... until the death of Ammon (this rookie teams finest player to date). In his memory the player who receives the most Star Player Points in a single season for the team shall be awarded the Ammon medal. This first one shall be posthumous obviously..accepted by his close runner up Karesh Var.

As to the game. Excellent Handicaps helped.. 3 players falling foul of Morleys revenge while "Robert J Oppenheimer" and "Isaac Newton" disputing who among them was the greatest. Questor Ro even managed to sneak some smelling salts into the stadium. Started well enough scoring early in the first half as we knew we must and seriously injuring a zombie to boot. The rest of the half was tough... marked up on occassions and ran away on others.. getting in the odd blitz.. but never having the means to retrieve the loose ball. "Charles Darwin" scored in the 8th turn of the half...making his gfi.. as we know we would have failed in his place. Sadly for the three knocked out players.. including Karesh Var and Touchstone the smelling salts were of no use.. so badly Ko'd they were. 2nd Half. Our chance... the failed pickup. Echoes players swarmed (well 2 or 3 maybe) making key blitzes ..finding themselves with the ball and staying upright despite numerous blocks. This was a good old fashioned wrestle for the ball. I am very pleased with my tactics to attack him in his own half to get the ball.. with a little more luck we could have pulled off the win.. or atleast a draw.(Karesh Var probably would have won it for us were he on the field). Perhaps the only mistake was to not follow up a blitz into the middle of every player.. only to see the ball bounce right there... but god who in their right mind would have wanted their player in the middle of that. The scramble lasted many turns.. before Ammon was killed by "Jacques Cousteau".. (The Apothecary reviving Suryet a few turns earlier) and the fight ebbed out of the "Echoes" players then and there. "Charles Darwin" was handed the ball and proceeded to stroll on in over the last 2 turns. If only we had held out one turn longer .. no one would have made it. We have saved our money.. so with the probable retirement of Methras with a Niggling injury and now a smashed ankle, and the death of Ammon new blood will be recruited for the next season. We will be back.. rest assured. We have much more to achieve.

Twahnlow Votes:

3 Votes to #2 "Robert J Oppenheimer" - Proved he was the greatest by Smashing Methras' ankle, and knocking out 3 players so badly smelling salts didnt work, 2 of them key players who could have turned the match.

2 Votes to #13 "Jacques Cousteau" - Both Strength 4 Ghouls were a handful.. but low and behold only 3 Strength was need. He gets the vote for the block that ended Ammons life.

1 Vote to #14 " Charles Darwin" - Right place at the right time on 2 occassions to run away with the TD's that won the Regionals for FfT.

#7 Johannes Kepler – Smashed Knee (NI)
Great match and great writeup Rabid_Bogscum, what more can I add? Forced me to play the slow grind, nothing flashy here and even that nearly failed me at the start of the second half.

3 votes go to Talaban for his blitzing efforts

2 votes go post humously to Ammon, as he was a blocking machine and brought down the ghouls many times.

1 vote goes to Touchstone for scoring the early td and looking threatening enough to warrant a whole lot of loving from Robert J Oppenheimer.
