|Winners of the 'Seekers of the Sepulchre' Conference (XLII)|
Winners of the 'Ecclesiarchs of Unsanity' Conference (XLIX)
When war came to the Southern Wastes it brought death, destruction and sorrow to all those it touched... but war also brings opportunity, and so they came. The mercenaries, the sell-swords: thieves and murderers of every stripe.
Some came from distant lands marching under foreign banners, others rose up from the peoples who had been oppressed and abused, who had lost everything they loved to the war. These were the most dangerous of all, for they had nothing but hate left in their hearts and though they took the spoils of war they were not motivated by profit, but by blood.
Of all these warriors the most feared of all were a band who came to be called the ruffians. These dwarfs had lost their homes and their families to the war, and sought revenge from every enemy they met. Their name itself spread fear across the land, until at last the war came to an end; then these dangerous killers had no purpose, no meaning in their lives. For a time they searched for ways to vent their terrible rage, to continue their bloody revenge against the world that had wronged them... and then they heard the SWL was restarting.
In the Ruffians' inaugural season they managed to finish 4/2/1 on 24 points with +5 TDs and +6 CAS. Unfortunately Greg_and_white's Vanisburgh Vipers narrowly won the CAS countback so the Ruffians were left in 3rd.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (15). R/U: Cadeyrn MagFoirtchern (11). 3rd: Riagán MagOg (9).
In the 'We Fink Wer Orks' Conference the Ruffians finished 4th with a record of 2/2/2 and a forfeit in their favour. Unfortunately it was a tight league and with three teams on 19 points the Ruffians' lower TD ratio (+1 TD and +2 CAS) let them down.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (19). = R/U: Cadeyrn MagFoirtchern and Aed the Burned (8)
In the Seekers of the Sepulchre Conference the Ruffians finished 1st, with a record of 5/1/1, earning 27 points with +5 TDs and +14 CAS. Their only loss came from an OTT by the Far Coast Forestals. Fáelan the Fleet scored 8TDs and had over 150 rushing yards. Éanne AuMellan acheived a Minor Larsson in only his second game.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (25). R/U: Cadeyrn MagFoirtchern (16). 3rd: Éanne AuMellan (9).
In Premier for the first time the Ruffians were undefeated after 4 games, only to lose two fall into relegation, despite a final round forfeit and a finish of 2/2/2: 19 points -1 TD and +13 CAS. Fáelan the Fleet rushed for a record 222 yards (including a single game record 56) and going past the 600 yard mark.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (19). R/U: Bréanainn the Noble (10). 3rd: Cadeyrn MagFoirtchern (9)
The Ruffians again finished with a final round forfeit and a record of 2/2/2 and 19 points. They had + 1 TDs and +8 CAS. The B&F was the closest in the club's history but Faelan's 5 TDs and 148 yards earnt him his fifth consecutive medal.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (16). R/U: Bréanainn the Noble (14). 3rd: Éanne AuMellan (13).
The Ruffians' finished 3/2/2 on 19 points. Both losses came to the Slann teams, with the 1-4 season opening loss against Blue Green Envy the worst in the club's history. Despite this they equalled their highest-scoring season with 13TDs (at +1), and set a new Ruffians record with 32 CAS (the second highest of any SWL team in the CRP era) at a whopping +27 differential. Faelan set a new club record for TDs scored in a season (9), and became the first SWL player in the CRP era to record two seasons of 200+ rushing yards, on his way to a sixth consecutive B&F trophy. Bréanainn's club-record 9 CAS saw him finished runner up and he was also awarded the best Blocking Award with a club-record 64.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (32). R/U: Bréanainn the Noble (18). 3rd: Aed the Burned (16)
The Ruffians finished 4/0/3 on 20 points, +2 TDs, and in third place. The season was the bloodiest in Ruffians' history, with two dwarfs dying and Eanne retiring due to serious injury. They struck back though and finished with +10 CAS. Faelan again ran more than 200 yards and scored 9 TDS, and was awarded a seventh consecutive B&F. In an unprecedented result three players all finished with 5 CAS to share the Runners-up medals.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (30). =R/U: Bréanainn the Noble, Mad Drust, Aed the Burned (10)
The Ruffians finished 4/2/1 on 24 points, +3 TDs, and +21 CAS. Unfortunately it was a strong Conference and they finished in third behind Chavo's Sting and The Whalekillers. In their only loss (0-3 to the Ninjah) young Dáire Riab nDerg was killed just as he was learning the game, and the Super Star Slayer Áed the Burned was also killed. Faelan had a quiet start to the season, but came home strong, scoring 6 TDs and an INT in the final three games. His performance in the final match - a 3-0 win over the previously undefeated Sting was enough to secure another Silver Slipper and yet another Ruffians' B&F. Bréanainn the Noble broke his own club records by causing 11 CAS, and throwing 67 blocks in the season.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (25). R/U: Bréanainn the Noble (22) 3rd: Cadeyrn MagFoirtchern (14)
The Ruffians finished in third place in their conference with a record of 3-1-3 with -2 TDs and +20 CAS. Unfortunately the conference had both slann teams and a big early loss to eventual winners Boogaloo shattered their confidence. Tribute to Alan Parsons completed the curse of the frog. The Ruffians also had an unusually high attrition rate, losing three runners in the course of the season, two killed and one retired. Faelan continued to dominate, having arguably his best season ever: 239 rushing yards, 2 completions, a CAS and 9 TDs (including his first ever hat-trick). Breanainn also stood-out again, breaking his own blocking record (with 79) and hitting 9 CAS.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (31). R/U: Bréanainn the Noble (18) 3rd: Baoth the Crazed (10)
For the first time in Ruffians history the award for B&F was shared. Fáelan collected his tenth consecutive medal, but at his side was his captain Cadeyrn. The two have shared such long careers together, playing 66 and 65 games respectively across those 10 seasons. The season was also the closest in SWL history, with top spot and 6th separated by only 3 points. The Ruffians finished with 22 points from a record of 3/1/2 and a forfeit (+4TDs, +5CAS). This left them equal with Erickan's Intoxicated Mayhem and Clayinfinity's Harlequins, and the championship was awarded to the Ruffians on count-back. This was the second Conference title in the Ruffians' history.
=B&F: Fáelan the Fleet and Cadeyrn MagFoirtchern (19). 3rd: Bréanainn the Noble (12)
The Ruffians' return to Premier was short-lived and brutal. The most injurious season that the team endured, and ultimately the final season after a finish in the bottom half of the table would have relegated them back to Conference level. The team survived 11 seasons, and in that time produced two legends. Cadeyrn and Fáelan each missed only one game in the team's long career. Bréanainn, Máedóc the Bald and Lóegaire Búadach were all inaugural members who survived until the last.
B&F: Fáelan the Fleet (16). R/U: Bréanainn the Noble (15). 3rd: Lóegaire Búadach (10).
