And so, after a string of losses and the polite (by Orc standards, no perm) ejection of Gertie (Thrower), the Ungirt Runnerz were born.

The Blitzers and Blockers carry the names associated with their proud and ancient clan lineages. Spare a thought for the poor Head Coach though. Every time he yells "Bertie!" or "Theo!" he elicits a response from the team which can only be described as "interesting". At least this is the excuse he gives.

The abject Linos are politely describe as being "of no lineage". The rest of the team calls them by whatever epithet comes to mind.

You may ask: "Why does the team have no Troll or Gobbos?". Simply put, the the names commonly used for such dunderheads and squits would make even FUMBBL coaches blush!

[UPDATE: Robert Trueshield appeared out of the blue from among the swarming hordes of hopeful Journeyorcs, to take his honourable place on the Line of Scrimmage. The unusual speed with which he was adopted by the team has led to rumours about his parentage. "Anonymous sources" suggest that he is the son of one of the team's Blitzers (a rumour supported by the circumstantial evidence of his first name). A more scurrilous "anonymous source" says that more than one Blitzer is claiming paternity. When asked directly, the Head Coach said he could not possibly comment.]

[UPDATE: Of course Robert Trueshield copped the inevitable permanent injury (-AV), leading to his instant retirement. That the management decided to replace him with Doo-dah tells you all you need to know.]

[UPDATE: Contrary to the betting odds, the team has won the (apparently) coveted Wobbly Boot and the (obviously) coveted Shield in one go. That they did so in a game where they put in their worst performance in living memory is of no consequence - we take what we can. Onward and upward!]
