In exchange for naming rights, certain fell powers assisted Elan to raise an initial team, members of whom are still playing today - Coach Elan (to his disgust) found that the SWL is so brutal that even the dead can die another day. <h2>Team History</h2>The Southern Wastes first saw "Mephistophele's Merry Men" in the <a href="http://swl.kicks-ass.org/swl/tournament.php?p_id=19740"> Great Unseen One’s Regional XXVIII </a><!>. Despite criticism for poor player skills, and complaints from the Blood Bowl Player's Association about grave robbing, a respectable 3/1/3 result provided fourth place in a tough field. With experience, performance improved in the <a href="http://swl.kicks-ass.org/swl/tournament.php?p_id=20757">Great Unseen One's Regional XXIV</a><!>, where an overall 5/0/2 first place saw the team promoted! Unfortunately, overconfidence and a lack of professionalism in the <a href="http://swl.kicks-ass.org/swl/tournament.php?p_id=21622">Touchstone's Ball Conference Season XXV</a><!> resulted in a 0/0/3 result and sixth place .... despite <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=5008089"> Adramelech's</a><!> amazing average of 3.33 Blocks to each Casualty caused, which saw him receive the prestigious <b><font color=red>Twahnlow's SILVER FIST</font></b> for the Season! Stitched and glued in anticipation of the<a href="http://swl.kicks-ass.org/swl/tournament.php?p_id=22488"> Gone's Slipper Conference League XXVI</a><!>, a vicious hammering at the hands of every opponent led to a pathetic 0/1/6 overall score, last place in the Conference and relegation! Severely culled for useable parts, individual & team performance in the <a href="http://swl.kicks-ass.org/swl/tournament.php?p_id=23256"">SWL Commissioner Twahn's Regionals XXVII </a><!> had to result in a return to the Conferences, or the Team was for the chop. A disappointing third place, with 4/1/2 overall, saw the team lining up at the abattoir, but a miracle wild card saved them from permanent death at the last second. The wild card came perhaps due to the inspiring performance of <a href="http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=player&player_id=5008110"> Alocer</a><!> who received both the prestigious <b><font color=red>Twahnlow's BRONZE FIST </b></font> (5.2 blocks to casualties) and <b><font color=red> BRONZE KNUCKLES</font> </b>(10 casualties) for the Season! Despite unexpected promotion and some glee early in <a href="http://www.fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=group&op=view&group=647">SWL Gone's Slipper Conference XXVIII</a><!>, the eventual 1/2/3 result was disappointing, as was the permanent loss of a number of crucial players.
