[B] Orc
| I first played Blood Bowl in 1995. My orc team, the Orclando Waaaagh, rarely if ever caged, didn't try to hurt the opponent (I think a couple guys had mighty blow, but that's all), and thrived on long forward passes. So, you know... all my strengths and weaknesses, right from the beginning. But... well, you know. Tabletop league skill levels vary. (I don't think ANYONE caged effectively in that league.) I figured out the basics of strategy, and even if I didn't figure out that I shouldn't elfball with some orcs, that was enough for me to win 75% of my games. I haven't played tabletop in years, but you know what? I loved those forward passing orcs. (And I usually hate Blood Bowl orcs.) So here they are. I'm bringing them back. I don't know how much I can actually win. But I do know one thing: I'm going to have fun trying. (I now know two things: orcs may not elfball, but they sure elfball a lot better than dwarves. Hats off to Rabe.) The way I see it, I'm happy if the following things happen: A: we post a winning record B: we score more TDs than casualties C: we complete at least one pass per game. (Long passes encouraged!) D: '90s tabletop style! No stalling, no fouling, no linemen! Goblins forever! Goblins forever! UPDATE: After 12 games: A: 7-1 with 4 draws (one of my best teams ever -- maybe I was smarter then than I am now.) B: 29 TDs, 24 casualties. Both solid numbers, but TDs are higher. C: 20 completions for 85 yards... we're airing it out! D: No stalling, no fouling, four goblins! (Two of which have +ST. It's ridiculous to keep them, but 1995 ahalfling knows not of "min-maxing" or "TV management"...) |
