Old World Bookmakers expecting Griffins to Choke.

Bookmakers are report a sudden increase in bets being placed from Fans from all CBBA teams, including a dramatic increase from Altdorf, backing the Griffins going down I. Their final game of the regular season.

It appears the Griffins are on the nose and the stench wafting across the Capital is not the normal sewage, but Unknown vapours from e univerisiy's apothecary department. Whilst rumours of corruption are never far from the Griffins, inside sources reliably confirm that team management have commissioned research in to so call Performance Enhancing potions.

It is obvious that the university is panicking with enrolments down and the fear of choking sending hose in the know to the bookies. Having the Altdorf VC spotted placing a rather large bet against the Griffiins must mean that the is looking towards bolstering his pension, because retirement is surely not far away.

FALCONS HALT THE STALLION'S CHARGE!
Reinhardt Wilhelm

In an exciting match earlier today, the Bechafen Falcons defeated the Averheim Stallions 2-0 in a stunning display of finesse. The Stallions, having won every match thus far, started by exciting their fans into storming the pitch, taking three players down for the first moments of the match. Despite this, careful play by our Death's Heads lead to stealing the ball and making a blistering sprint for the endzone.

The second half saw the Falcons repeat their performance within the third quarter, completely shutting down the Stallion's defence. Any attempts by the Stallions to take even a single Touchdown off the Falcons was halted, and victory was had.

All things considered, this has been a fine season, with fine games all round. The Falcons finish the season with a sterling record of 4-1-1 (including a walkover), which is a fantastic showing by our team! The Falcons finish second in our Conference, with a probable position of 5th in the overall tables, though it's possible we will finish as high as 3rd overall (unlikely as that may seem).

AVERHEIM UNIVERSITY GAZETTE
Completely Impartial Reporting since Imperial Court Injuncture, 11 Jahrdrung 2513

Stallions Charge halted by Falcons
In a shock end to an otherwise stellar season, the Averheim Stallions were beaten in unflattering fashion by new rivals, the Bechafen Falcons. The Falcons have also had a decent season, winning most of their matches and ceding only 6 touchdowns in the 5 games they played. In this match, the influence of the mysterious Death’s Heads cannot be understated, responsible as they were for both touchdowns and almost singlehandedly (and repeatedly) stopping the Stallions from scoring.

Although this 0-2 beating was a sorry end to the regular season, Stallions management and fans can rest easy knowing that their team is headed to a Bowl for the first time in many a year. Coaching staff are also quick to point out that they have blown away expectations, easily surpassing the team goals for the season with a 5/0/1 record.

A cloud does still hang over the College’s Bloodbowl program however, with some critics calling for an investigation into the enrolment status of the infamous ‘Four Horsemen’. Further to this, some are questioning the playing style of the team, with its focus on shutting down opposing plays and conservative drives. While Coach Luo was not on hand (again) to comment, his staff were quick to point out that any criticism is unfounded, and that despite what the critics say, the efficacy of the team’s strategy is plain for all to see.

The big question on everyone’s mind now though, is – ‘Who will join the Stallions in the Bowl?’ Despite claims that a CBBA Bowl without an AIC representative would be lacklustre, the most likely opponents are to be found in the Frostbelt conference, with the Yhetees AND the Bulls looking primed to finish on 16 and 15 points respectively. This puts both teams at least one point ahead of both the Middenland Wolfpack, and the RAU Griffins, who are both likely to win their remaining matches.

Round 5 Wrap Up
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily

The picture is becoming pretty clear now after round 5 concluded last night. With one round to go, most teams look toward next season while a lucky few prepare for the bowl games.

In the AIC, Nuln continued it's excellent season with a rare victory over the Scorpions. It looked like the Scorpions went into the game with an offensive focus in an attempt to build some cohesion for next season. The Guru aired the ball out well for the Scorps to bring in two touchdowns but the lack of defence against the agile Gunners was obvious as they let in three in return. Greigor Hess was exceptional in avoiding the Scorpions defence to rush his way for two touchdowns. The Griffins put in a clinical display against a resolute Panthers team who were valiant but outclassed by their rivals. The Griffins looked like a Bowl team, putting in the hard work on defence and showing their desire in scrambling for loose balls. The results set up an interesting final round with the Gunners still within striking range if the Griffins falter in the biggest game of the season against their bitter rivals the Scorpions.

In the Food Bowl Conference the Falcons failed to stamp their impression on the league with a nervous 2-1 victory over the Cockerels. The Cockerels were fired up and played aggressively to some success as the Wolf lead the way knocking the Falcons out of the game at will. The Cockerels inflicted a heap of damage on the Falcons to the delight of the home crowd but still couldn't get the victory. Aldric Essenfirth will be remembered for his touchdown which helped lead to a victory before he was killed on the pitch later in the game. It didn't look like it was going to be played, but the Axemen got their logistics in line to play their rivals the Stallions. The Axemen put in an improved performance against the hottest team in the league and gave themselves every opportunity to win but just fell short losing 1-0. The Axemen need to bring back their traditionally strong offense to complement defensive efforts like that. The Stallions could be showing signs of fatigue as questions are raised about whether they peaked too early.

The Great North Road Conference has been locked up by the Wolfpack in a surprisingly excellent campaign from the rookie CBBA coach Jevouse who has got the most out of the Wolfpack. Even though the Manticores employed some typically dirty tricks, they just couldn't overcome the excellent defense from the Wolfpack who kept their opponents scoreless for the third time this season. Von Geschwind put in a great all round performance scoring the teams winning touchdown and managing to inflict some damage. The Harlequins did the Harlequins thing and capitulated again, this time to the Clippers. The Harlequins came into the match short on players and matters soon got worse as three players suffered significant injuries early. The Clippers put in their best performance of the season, lead by The Redtide who was ferocious, maiming three of the elves himself. Het Melken scored the two touchdowns for the Clippers, leading to the 2-1 victory.

The Frostbelt Conference remains open as the Bulls and Yhetees will be looking to win the division and a likely shot at the CBBA Bowl in the final round. The Bulls bash attack got going again as they surprised the Buccaneers, trouncing them early on the way to a dominant 3-1 victory. Godwinson scored a brave touchdown for the Buccs as the only highlight in a game they'd rather forget as once again Laut took control with supreme hitting power. The Bears failed to walk the walk after hyping themselves up against the Yhetees. The Yhetees embarrassed the Bears 3-0 with good old fashioned college blood bowl prowess. The Kossars did the damage for the Yhetees scoring their three touchdowns while the Bears couldn't capitalise on their casualties against the well trained opposition.

The Great Eagles have given themselves a shot at overcoming the Confederates in round 3 to take out the Southerners Conference. The Eagles looked to be hitting their straps again with some elegantly brilliant blood bowl against the fading Chevaliers who are struggling to re-find their early form. The Great Eagles offense was far too explosive for the Chevs, letting in four touchdowns. The lack of hitting power will be a concern for coach Bobs as the team continues to fade. Meanwhile the Confederates continued their late season charge as the in-form team of the South with a grinding 1-0 victory over the Diavoli. The neighbouring teams went at it hard with 5 significant casualties between them, but it was the Feds' Catcher Widmann who managed to score the only touchdown of the game. Filipo Orsini emerged as a player to watch after managing to record three completed passes. Unfortunately for the Diavoli, they didn't amount to any touchdowns.

CBBA Investigating Cheating Accusations

The CBBA is officially investigating a recent game in which a team is alleged to have broken CBBA rules. Although there aren't any official announcements yet, inside sources say a team is likely going to be stripped of points as a punishment. Could this affect the Bowl race?

Altdorf Cup On Tonight

The biggest game of the regular season (and perhaps the biggest game period) between the Big Two will be held tonight. Since moving to a Conference system, the CBBA Bowl cannot be contested between the Griffins and Scorpions so instead their annual matchup has been appointed a trophy "The Altdorf Cup". Regardless of the other happenings of the season, both teams will be vying to crown themselves the Kings of the Capital.

BUF Chipfeed @bufalcons

Uproar as Kurt Kasimir, thought to be seen on the pitch with the other Falcons, was seen congratulating his teammates on their win against the Stallions. Former Sweeper Wolfram Hertwig XVII, not fully recovered from his injury, was discovered to have pilfered Kasimir's uniform from the cleaning rooms in order to finish the season. Hertwig was deemed too addled from his concussion to be fully blamed for his actions, but the BUF administration has voluntarily opted to concede the 3 points for the win.

White Ribbon Bowl Champions!
Urlso Press

The arch rival Bulls have run away with their tail between their legs!

An epic game saw the mighty Bears run out 2-1 winners. A season with 4 wins is pretty damn good as long as 1 was against the Bulls.

It has been said that this game should be called the "White Ribbon Bowl" given both sides will finish on more points than any of the snowflakes who will make it to the Red Ribbon. Of course we will get nothing from the corrupt CBBA who only like the imperial schools.

As can be expected, the crowd were poorly behaved, with one pitch invasion and one thrown rock.

The question everyone's lips is how much many exchanged hands for the RSU to swallow their pride and give Alrdorf a draw.

Altdorf Cup Stays On The Shelf

The Altdorf Cup will remain in neutral territory as both sides played out a thrilling draw in the game of the season. Fans will have to wait until next season to see who can claim the trophy. Meanwhile, the Griffins have been guaranteed a Bowl game, though it's likely to be in the Red Ribbon Bowl.

Outside Guisonne General Hospital

Reporter : Le Bob, Le Bob, its good to see you released from hospital. How are you feeling ?
Le Bob : Feeling much better now, fully recovered.
Reporter : How do you answer the rumours that you received your injuries upon returning to the University and not abroad as was originally reported.
Le Bob : The injuries that put me in hospital were 100% as a result of my travels.
Reporter : So you did get assaulted abroad and not "disciplined" by faculty as has been rumoured when you abandoned the team to fend for it self for several games.
Le Bob : No, no of course not. We all know of the dangers that befall travelers to foreign lands. And let me categorically state that i will henceforth be abstaining from consumption of all alcohol during pre-season and during the playing calendar of all future seasons of my tenure with the Chevaliers.
Reporter : So the statements of students at the university noting senior members of faculty and the Dean leaving your apartments carrying bats, staves and paddling boards just before the ambulant carraige was called have no bearing on your injuries.
Le Bobs : (Laughing) No not at all, if i validate those rumours I'll be walking with a limp for the rest of my life, why would i justify that. Hey, don't write that down. Oh bugger.

The Wolf's Howl - Issue 6

by Cliofus Gutschreiber

The joyous rioting occuring throughout the week as rookie Rüdelführer Jevouse led the Wolfpack's charge to 3 glorious victories in the Great North Road, remaining undefeated throughout the season, was marred by the news of the Greasers' defeat of the Buccaneers to clinch their spot in the CBBA Bowl, relegating the White Wolves to the Red Ribbon to face the pompous birds. The Greasers too had managed to hold the fierce and disciplined Wolves to a draw earlier in the season with a hail mary play that outdid the Wolves' earlier one, and it seems that their luck has held steady. Still, as winners of the Middenheim Derby and clobberers of clowns, mashers of merchants and cullers of Chaos, this debut season has been a success beyond what anyone could have expected and proves once again the verity of our college's motto - Truth in Battle!
