These are the first edition of the Weekly Awards for Season 2 of the DLE. Season 1 was a great season of 75 total games without a single game forfeit. This season we have expanded to 32 teams from the initial 18 and are playing 14 Games in the Regular season instead of 8. So with the playoffs included, is it possible to play 235 games this season without a forfeit? I would love to see it and offer it as a challenge to the DLE coaches. But without further ado here are the 1st winners of the DLE Season 2 Weekly Awards.

Image DLE Air Player of Week 1: Kirk Cousins, Season 2, 2nd Round Thrower, Wolfenburg- Cousins made his debut count. The Wolfskins thrower had 2 TD passes on 2 completions for 12 yards. He was also on the receiving end of another TD pass and rushed for 26 yards in Wolfenburg’s 4-0 dismantling of the Barboza (formerly Marienberg) Marauders.

ImageDLE Ground Player of Week 1: Matt Flynn, Season 2, 2nd Round Thrower, Broekwater The Patriots have a reputation for being killers. And they started off their second season where they left off in season one, with a quick Injury and kill by their 2 star Blitzers in the Jerry Harris Memorial Game. But this week the real recognition to the team comes for something that they did with the ball. In his debut, newly acquired thrower, Flynn, ran for 2 TDs and tied the DLE single game record for rushing yards with 42 held by All-World catcher Sammy Watkins.

ImageDLE Slayer of Week 1: Vlade Bukowski: Expansion 1st Round Equivalent Blitzer, Muckenhof- This week the Slayer goes to a newcomer from the expansion Manticores. In his very first game the Blitzer took a half to get warmed up. But once the second half kickoff took place, the animal in Vlade was released. One the first turn of the second half he Smashed the hip of First Round Equivalent Blitzer Juqua Parker. Later in the half he Badly hurt 3rd Rounder Billy Winn. And the Big one came on the last turn of the game. Earlier in the first half Irrana’s UDFA Blitzer had hurt Vlade’s brother Jarek bad enough that Jarek was going to miss the next game, so with the score tied and no chance of winning Vlade set his sights on the blitzer. He directed teammates Charlie Cowan and Bob Waterfield to assist him to exact his revenge. As he blitzed toward the Avalanche Blitzer, his cry could be heard, “For Jarek!” he made more than solid contact with the Avalanche player sending his limp, dead body to the pitch. The Manticores then immediately stopped playing the game and walked off the pitch leaving Avalanche players, coaches, and doctors to clean up the bloody mess that was left at midfield that used to be called Jerome mcdougle.

ImageTHE DLE PLAY of Week 1: Jason Verrett: Season 1, !st Round Catcher, Dead Wood- First of all, let me start out by saying that this award almost went to another player because Verrett’s coach has not followed the instructions on “Rosters” set forth in the DLE’s Great Wall o’ Text. But this time I did the extra research to find the information for myself. However, this is a warning to all coaches… If you want to win awards, make sure that your rosters (more specifically your Player Bios) are set up as directed. Now on to the award… Verrett, an agile but undersized player found the David vs Goliath moment inside of himself when with his team down 1-0, he fought against the odds. From a Prone position, he single handedly jumped up, taking the much stronger ball carrier by surprise and brought him down. The ball scattered right to Verrett, who dutifully reeled it in, and then dodged twice to freedom and the equalizing score. Helping his underdog Rangers get the draw vs the heavily favored Greenskins.

ImageDLE Sucker of Week 1: Malik Jackson: Season 1, 2nd Round Blitzer, Barboza Bruisers- So… The Sucker of the Week in season 1 saw all kinds. And this season we start off with a sucker of bad dice as well as bad decisions. At the end of the first half Jackson had the chance to scoop up the ball on his own end on turn 6 giving him plenty of time to score. Especially since he had teammates spread out across the field and in scoring position. On turn 6 he fails the GFI, Last RR used for success and then fails the pick-up. On turn 7, still plenty of opportunity to score, he fails another pick-up. And on turn 8 with yet still time to score if he can catch a handoff and complete a short pass, or complete a long pass, he fails the 3rd pick-up. The in the second half on turn 4 He sets himself up near the sideline, so that he can be and eventually is crowd surfed BY A CATCHER at that! So for this poor play on your part, I award you with this badge… CONGRATS SUCKER!!!

Round2 is completed, so expect some more of that stuff shortly. (giving the topic a little bump, and a little advertisement of the nice writing.)

It was said that the best part of DLE is the community effort. Time to time i am amazed again and again about the commitment of this group. So i figured i give a short update about the task people took on themselves to make DLE really great. If i miss somebody, then please correct me, i am on NO WAY restrictive, just having imperfect notes and memory.

Eric Ebron of the Brionne Buccaneers spent the whole game hugging the football and traversed the length and breadth of field during the first half to eventually avoid tacklers and walk in the touchdown. More of the same in the second half as he continued to see a heavy workload of carries, as he eventually gave the rock to one of his teammates to get the go ahead score. 26 rushing yards racked up over a monstrous day on the grid iron.
Turns to watch: T5-8 and T12-T16

Steve McNair of the Barboza Bruisers pulled off the play that is the envy of all passers by executing a last minute deep ball to Fast Eddie who takes it in for a 1 turn touchdown and the draw in the dying moments of the game. The ball travelled 6 yards in the air followed by 13 yards of YAC from Eddie.

2nd half turn 6. Ogre Casey Hardback Hayward Intercepts a pass at midfield, preventing an almost certain goal later on by the opponent, and he then runs the ball to the endzone in turn 7, to make the final TD of the game to secure his team a 2-1 win! And yes he made some GFI's to get away from opponents cathing up with him too much.

DLE Sucker of the Week:

Andreson Hoffmann - https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=11168168

Awesome Work! However I had a hard time finding where to look in the slayer award. I think it was 2 fouls that gave Art Monk the award but not sure as the pictures made me look at the injury writing only. But maybe that was the point. Smile

It was a kill apo-ed into a kill, hence the emphasis on text.
