Reason - the 1 skill that might let teams stall easily without "Wasting time"...

this.

I'm sure I'll need an extra dose of ibuprofen with the new rules and all the tables to look at...

It's a plan to even the different skill levels amongst coaches:
old coaches used to this ruleset will struggle to learn and adapt to the new rules, young coaches will learn them and beat us old timers! Very Happy

Has the official unveiling of the new rules happened? if not, when is it slated or estimated to happen?

I'm very excited but it kinda takes some fun out of playing in the meantime, knowing it's all gonna change soon. it can't have been a deliberate leak, especially if GW have new releases before then.

I've heard that the number of stars has been cut down to 23 or maybe 24. Does anyone have a list?

I assume it includes all those from Forgeworld under BB16 and it looks like Bugman as well as the Black Gobbo and White Dwarf are added too.

Yeah, and Grak & Crumbleberry.

People guesses there will be a "Starplayers" or "Death Zone" book, so don't worry... all your hard work from these years won't be lost

A lot of folks talking in depth about the new rules and skills etc. Other than the leaked rule book, with hard to read text in places, is there anywhere else now come to light, where can I find these to peruse at leisure.

Many thanks in advance

A total of 23-24 stars, yes.

In one book.

But when did GW ever release just one book?

Yeah, 5 or more teams and several star players will be part of the temptation for Death Zone or whatever the extra book will be several months down the line. Along with points like special play cards and wizards if they aren't in already.

Question about new random skill-ups: will it be possible to decline a skill? In extreme cases, I could see wanting to decline a random skill even if I have to incur the 10k TV hit (e.g. Frenzy).

I very much doubt it... once you spend the spp's, I think you get what you get and you need to play with the skill or retire the player...

Correct. You have to take it once committed to a random roll.

If you count the pairs as 1, it's 23 star player options
Note even the existing ones have changed somewhat. All stars now have unique rules eg 'once per game' abilities

* The Black Gobbo
Deeproot Strongbranch
Edril Sidewinder
Glart Smashrip
Gloriel Summerbloom
* Grak & Crumbleberry
Gretchen Wächer "The Bloodbowl Widow"
Griff Oberwald
Grim Ironjaw
Hakflem Skuttlespike
Helmut Wulf
Karla Von Kill
Lord Borak the Despoiler
Mighty Zug
Morg 'n' Thorg
Roxanna Darknail
Rumbelow Sheepskin
Skrull Halfheight
Lucien Swift & Valen Swift
Varag Ghoul-Chewer
* Grombrindal, the White Dwarf
Willow Rosebark
Zolcath the Zoat

* New, or they're not in this list https://fumbbl.com/help:Full+list

Everyone with str3 is also buffed if Im understanding this right?

I think this is the point isnt it? the new rules change the way the skills are used, shutting down some (previously common) options but opening up a lot others. Especially as you can now pick doubles.

How does a human or orc blitzer with BT look for example, especially now you can pick dodge intentionally? Maybe throw in a +ma and that's a tasty looking player.

People will adapt very fast to the new environment but just need to start to think in a different way. Out with the old, in with the new!

Any old school players will remember changes to ie stand firm or diving tackle that massively changed the way those skills were used. This is just the same.

Players for whom Break Tackle is the same as currently, meaning they still dodge on a 2+:
Ogre, Minotaur, Rat Ogre ST5, Ag4+
Chaos Chosen Blockers, ST4, Ag3+

Nerfed, these all now dodge on a 3+ with Break Tackle:
Death Roller st7 ag5+
Treeman st6 ag5+
Troll, Rotspawn, Kroxigor, Mummy, Yhetee*, Tomb Guardian* St5 Ag5+
Flesh Golem, Big Orc Blocker, Black Orc, Nurgle Bloater, Bull Centaur* Ulfwerener* ST4 ag4+

Extra nerfed:
Saurus So Sad, ST4 Ag5+, now dodge on a 4+ with Break Tackle

Buffed:
Vampires*! They'd be ST4 ag2+ so would dodge on 1+ with Break Tackle

Anyone who is ST3 ST4 and has Strength access (but not Mutations access because Two Heads is better), can take BT for a +1 to dodge
Maybe on a Dwarf Runner, so he dodges on a 2+? It's expensive tho, 40k TV cost
