NBFL Season 26 Draft Grades + Recap

With the recent NBFL draft completed, it's time to take a step back...and loudly judge how everyone did. Eight teams started with brand new rosters, while a select few may have thought they were just a piece away from a Super Bowl run. And of course there are the rest of the teams in the middle.

Who landed the best steal? Who's aggressive move-up was too much? And who improved their team the most? The answer to these questions, and many more, awaits below:

As always, here's my rebuttal to KCT's draft pick discussion.

The original purpose of KCT was to give the Bronorks a much needed kick in the tail. We moved into their backyard and began arming. JR immediately saw this and fleetfooted ASAP. Speaking of which, when my orc Titanz left, the league immediately disbanded them and tossed them on the comp draft list. HOW THE #$^#$ HAS BRONORKS LEFT TWICE AND NOT SEEN THE SAME FATE?

Anyway I digress.

The second purpose of the team was an experiment. To see if Block guard mightyblow claw prehensile tail is the ultimate skill combo. (bunny slope, same experiment)

I have the answer.

No.

While the experiment yielded negative results here and in box, we are now wiser. Or at least we should be. (coach boneheads like troll sometimes)

Anyway, onto the draft.

The minotaur was drafted because our three big guys are for the frontline. They have the thick skull, 9av, and regen, and with 5ST, guard, and standfirm, they have the best chance of survival...especially if the opposition looks at that and says "nope, won't even try".

The current minotaur only had guard making him the weak link in the armor that would fail the other two big guys. This draftee completes the masterwork platemail (and is the reason why we've only lost 6 guys in 75 games)

The other draft pick was for those #$%#% elves and skinks that happily dodge circles around my anti-orc team and gingerly win the game. We dropped the 7av guy because...well...he's 7av (the -ag 4ST guy hopefully will get tentacles), and we have so many claw guys we can afford to lose one.

Yes, we missed the opportunity for a +Ma or +ag guy which we probably need quite badly, but to hec with it. We're famous for losing, so let's not disappoint the fans! Very Happy

*self edited when I realized a couple comments were not forum appropriate. I apologize for the offense.

NBFL Season 26 Preview

Another NBFL season is upon us, and it is slated to be the last one before BB2020 comes to our fabled league! With one last chance for glory before all the coaches become noobs again to some extent, who will seize this opportunity?

Instead of the usual preview and prediction post, this time I'll organize teams into tiers based on how I think they'll fare. We've already run through the rosters extensively in our Draft Grade Review show, so this will instead focus on a team's overall outlook. And of course, there will still be playoff predictions and the dreaded Ex-con Curse at the end!

(Teams are not listed in any real order in the tiers)

Top 10 (of the Draft)
The teams that will, unfortunately, struggle a bit and find themselves looking for answers and/or superstars in next season's draft

Mangledsota Many-Men: not even the addition of Paul Bunyan [UM] (#3 overall pick) can keep this Old World Alliance team from being well, an OWA team

Buffaelo Khills: sacrifices will be be made to the Blood God, but it won't be enough to avoid another losing season

Nawlins Lost Saints: an interesting collection of players, however, the lack of a cohesive plan will doom them again

New Zigguratland Chariots: I've heard that Joey Mendis would make a decent Bull Centaur

Warpstone Bay Ratscallions: if your draft was half as good as your logo, you wouldn't be in this category!

Chicаgo Beards: they won't have the first pick of the draft again, but I don't know if they'll be able to score enough to get many W's

Not Quite Ready
The teams that won't be awful but are a few pieces away from being able to compete for the playoffs

Arizona Redbulls: a good draft class to start the franchise with, but you are in a very difficult division

Kansas City Thiefs: we keep waiting for these Renegades to take the next step, but will they?

Titannesse Kraken's: a solid roster, but they have yet to truly compete for their very tough division

Lost Dogs of San Angeles: a new home may or may not have greener grass for Amon's team

No-Skincinnati Bungles: a solid draft haul, but perhaps one more class away from being ready

Philadelphia Regal Eagles: a beautiful draft gave them some nice pieces, but health and development are likely to be the focus for now

Playoff Potential
The teams that I wouldn't pencil in for a playoff spot, but are certainly capable if a few things go their way

Carolina Pythoness: one hell of a draft class plus a favorable division means that Waagh could surprise some people

Dallas Crowbar: the dwarfs will have to prove they can make it before I can believe in them

Jakesonville Jortles: one should never count the Jortles out, but mrt may not (yet) have the players he needs for his crazy strategies

Pittsburgh Steelcurs: the Steelcurs look ok right now, but if they develop more by midseason, they could be in for a surge

B'altimoor Sk'avens: coach Uber has the tools to surprise some teams with his rookie skaven, but can he keep them healthy?

San Foulcisco 69'ers: not an easy division to be in, but there are enough talented players to possibly make a push

Wildcard Locks
The teams that will make the playoffs but will also likely bow out quickly when they get there

Woodington Barkskins: Garc always makes the playoffs, and his low TV woodies won't be an exception

New York Kroaks: the Frogs have loaded up for a playoff run this season, and it's up to the coaching staff to use the pieces correctly

Cleaved Land Bedlam: likely the favorites in the AFC North, can the Bedlam live up to expectations?

New York Wrecks: surely a team with this much talent and recent playoff success can at least make it back to the dance

Divisional Dominion
The teams that likely don't quite measure up to the top tier teams, but that doesn't mean in a one-off blood bowl game that they can't pull the upset

Houston Treants: IF the Treants can suffer less perms, they have the coaching and a few key ingredients to go much further

C'attle C'haos: a rebound season is certainly possible, but can they be as dominant as they once were?

Atlatl Flechettes: surely they can't repeat last season's success and have the best regular season record again, right?

Los Angeles Glams: they have yet to recapture the magic from their Super Bowl title runs in seasons 20 and 23, but they haven't been far off either

Denver Brontos: they've gotten further and further the past few seasons; can these lizards finally put it all together?

Championship or Bust
The teams that expect nothing less than to make the Conference Championship game

Las Vegas Sinners: these fatty Dark Elves have everything they could possibly need to finally win the AFC

Icelandic Dolts: the reigning champs can certainly contend again, but will any sort of regression to the mean cost them another title?

Destroit Lynels: can the Lynels use their proven formula to make three straight NFC title games?

Super Bowl Dreams
The teams that look good on paper, have good coaching, and have shown previous playoff prowess

Miami Coronablights: this team is loaded and has unfinished business after last season's divisional round letdown

Green Baynana Grabbers: the Grabbers are ready to go (and throw) ape-shit over the entire league

With that said, here is how I see the season playing out (now with seven playoff spots per conference):

NFC:
1. Green Baynana Grabbers (N)
2. Los Angeles Glams (W)
3. Atlatl Flechettes (S)
4. New York Kroaks (E)
5. Destroit Lynels (N)
6. C'attle C'haos (W)
7. Woodington Barkskins (E)

NFC Championship:
Green Baynana vs Los Angeles

AFC:
1. Miami Coronablights (E)
2. Houston Treants (S)
3. Las Vegas Sinners (W)
4. Pittsburgh Steelcurs (N)
5. New York Wrecks (E)
6. Icelandic Dolts (S)
7. Denver Brontos (W)

AFC Championship:
Miami vs Las Vegas

Super Bowl XXVI:
Green Baynana Grabbers vs Miami Coronablights

Super Bowl Prediction:
Relezite adds Skaven to the list of races that he's won the NBFL with and starts to plan which one to use next in BB2020

Best of luck to everyone this season!

Ex-con's NBFL Season 26 Playoff Preview

With the playoffs upon us once again, it is time for the ancient time-honored tradition of the Ex-con Playoff Preview! Famously inaccurate over the years, we have never once correctly picked the Super Bowl winner, therefor establishing the dreaded 'Ex-con Curse' ! However, never before have we had seven teams per conference make the playoffs before either; will the expanded field have any affect on our foresight?

Already a good/bad sign is that we were incredibly accurate during our season preview, foreseeing six of seven teams in both conferences! But perhaps figuring out the playoff teams was easy, and trying to pick one out of the pack will still prove challenging...

However, another curve ball has been thrown: the final week game between Green Baynana and Philadelphia determines the seeding of three teams, but won't be completed in time for the playoff preview show (and thus this article). Thus, we will predict the outcome of that game, thereby predicting the seeding in the NFC before the playoffs actually begin...what can go wrong?

Let the voodoo begin!

NFC Conference

1. Green Baynana Grabbers (10-1-3 // 73 pts // North)*
2. Atlatl Flechettes (8-5-1 // 71 pts // South)
3. C'attle C'haos (8-5-1 // 71 pts // West)
4. New York Kroaks (4-8-2 // 52 pts // East)
5. Los Angeles Glams (8-5-1 // 71 pts // West)
6. Destroit Lynels (6-4-4 // 54 pts // North)
7. Dallas Crowbar (7-0-7 // 49 pts // East)

* notes that this is a prediction that the Grabbers will win their season finale and thus take the 1 seed; any other result would drop them to third and move ATL and Cattle up one spot each, therefor changing all of the matchups and messing up my entire bracket. no pressure, grue!

Overall the NFC seems a bit top-heavy with four clear favorites that each have over 70 points (maybe). But one would only have to look to last season when a wildcard team ran through the gauntlet and made the Super Bowl, and while their team is different now, Destroit is certainly capable of doing it again.

Wildcard Round

(2) Atlatl Flechettes vs (7) Dallas Crowbar

A powerful regular season lizard team faces off against a dwarf squad that literally split their games this season, going 7-0-7 and earned a playoff birth by winning their final game. Neither team is super deep (both have 13 players currently), and the ATL is the only team in the playoff field to run less than four rerolls (three). Dwarfs do have some natural tools to deal with lizards, but all the pressure will be on 'Playoff Nelphine' to break the negative narrative about his postseason performances.

Prediction: ATL 2 - 1 Dallas (OT)

It won't be easy, but the lizards will scratch and claw their way to a hard-earned overtime victory.

(3) C'attle C'haos vs (6) Destroit Lynels

Somehow currently rocking only 2380 TV (missing 200 TV from a MNG warrior will do that), C'attle will still be giving up inducements to a Lynel team that loves to be the underdog. While the game certainly won't be decided by who gets the ball first (see last season's super bowl for a good example), the team that starts with the momentum could very well seize the opportunity and never let up.

Prediction: C'attle 1 - 0 Destroit

When your opponent's basic lineman can a 2D blitz on most of your relatively slow players whenever they want, it makes it very tough to out-position the opposition for 16 turns (or more).

(4) New York Kroaks vs (5) Los Angeles Glams

The only team rocking less than six wins in the playoff field are the Kroaks, who managed a mere four victories, although they also managed to avoid losses outside of the first and last games of the season. But playing for ties doesn't work in the playoffs, and the Glams certainly aren't the fifth best team in the conference (in fact they have the same record as ATL and C'attle...damn tiebreakers). Will the underfrogs be able to avoid a scenario where (former Cal player for coach ex-con) Allan Bridgford changes the entire outcome on the final turn?

Prediction: New York 1 - 2 Los Angeles

Even if you do everything right for 15 turns, if the opponent can relatively easily tie or win the game on the final play, the 'Great Plan' may have to wait.

Divisional Round

(1) Green Baynana Grabbers vs (5) Los Angeles Glams

The Grabbers hypothetically secured the #1 seed at the time of publishing, but unfortunately the highest seeded opponent left for this round are the Glams. Oof. While not an easy draw, Green Baynana has been a dominant team for most of the season, and this should make for one heck of a clash.

Prediction: Green Baynana 3 - 2 Los Angeles (OT)

If you can't stop your opponent from taking it to OT, then just bribe the ref to win the cointoss when you get there, am I right?

(2) Atlatl Flechettes vs (3) C'attle C'haos

Two teams with one loss this season enter, but only one can leave victorious.

Prediction: Atlatl 1 - 2 C'attle

Claw makes the difference and the cows win by attrition

NFC Championship Game

(1) Green Baynana Grabbers vs (3) C'attle C'haos

The Grabbers have yet to make it to the big game, and standing in their way is a team desperate to make up for the last time that they were (two seasons ago).

Prediction: Green Baynana 2 - 1 C'attle

Fans will go ape-shit over the clutch plays made by the Grabbers to steal this one late.

AFC Conference

1. Miami Coronablights (7-7-0 // 70 pts // East)
2. Houston Treants (9-2-3 // 69 pts // South)
3. Cleaved Land Bedlam (7-4-3 // 61 pts // North)
4. Las Vegas Sinners (6-6-2 // 60 pts // West)
5. Icelandic Dolts (8-4-2 // 68 pts // South)
6. New York Wrecks (7-6-1 // 67 pts // East)
7. Denver Brontos (6-4-4 // 54 pts // West)

In contrast, the AFC is incredibly deep, with six of the teams earning at least 60 points, and the one team that didn't made the conference finals last season! Getting through this gauntlet of quality teams will be both physically and mentally taxing, so it sure would be nice to have a bye week to start...

Wildcard Round

(2) Houston Treants vs (7) Denver Brontos

Unfortunately for the Brontos, WEs are already a handful for lizards to deal with, and you're giving them quite a bit of inducements to work with. Better hit em pretty hard!

Prediction: Houston 2 - 1 Denver

The wardancer+wizard combo proves too much to overcome.

(3) Cleaved Land Bedlam vs (6) New York Wrecks

Hopefully the only time we'll see a chaos mirror match during the playoffs, the Wrecks will be the favorite despite the lower seed, as they have years of playoff experience on their side. But the Bedlam will be no pushover, and this game looks to go down to the wire.

Prediction: Cleaved Land 1 - 2 New York (OT)

Broadway and co. survive and advance.

(4) Las Vegas Sinners vs Icelandic Dolts

With the Sinner's dual-Ag6 stars making another run at a title, their opening draw couldn't be any more dramatic: the defending Super Bowl champs are in town looking to become the first team in NBFL history to go back-to-back! This promises to be the best game of the wildcard round, as the field will be littered with both stat freaks and the corpses of cannon fodder used to screen them off!

Prediction: Sinners 1 - 2 Icelandic

Eventually the elven armor can't hold up any longer, and the Dolts punch their way through to a late score.

Divisional Round

(1) Miami Coronablights vs (6) New York Wrecks

These two teams simply can't avoid each other, and they certainly won't be allowed to tie like they did in the season finale (where Broadway died before the Apo saved him). With everything on the line this time, expect the intensity to ramp up even further.

Prediction: Miami 2 - 1 New York

When the two Ma10 gutters are arguably the less important of the four, you're gonna have a tough time stopping the rats.

(2) Houston Treants vs (3) Icelandic Dolts

Another divisional battle for supremacy, this time with Baz and Aste facing off to see who's opinion on all-things-bloodbowl we have to listen to more this offseason!

Prediction: Houston 2 - 1 Icelandic

Aste will be rightly confident after his recent major win (congrats btw), but will he be, dare I say, overconfident?

Championship Game

(1) Miami Coronablights vs (2) Houston Treants

Ah, yes, the classic skaven vs WE battle that we always see in the NBFL. It takes two high level coaches to get these teams this far, and you couldn't ask for a better pair to fight for the conference title.

Prediction: Miami 2 - 1 Houston (OT)

Such a low-scoring affair may seem surprising, but both coaches will realize that control of the ball will be key.

NBFL Super Bowl XXVI

Green Baynana Grabbers vs Miami Coronablights

Wait, isn't this the same as my preseason prediction? Surely I won't be picking the same outcome, right?

Prediction: Green Baynana 1 - 2 Miami

WRONG!! Relezite gets hit with the never-before-seen Dreaded Ex-con DOUBLE Curse!!

Whether or not this will finally break the curse, or literally break Rel's team remains to be seen. Best of luck to everyone, and enjoy the playoffs!

WOO DRAFT PREVIEW TIMEEEEE (Part 1: Picks 1 to 5)

I have no idea what im doing so im just gonna throw out thoughts on… EVERYTHING. No cmp draft order as of writing, so im winging it, and just mentioning two great players for each new team.

1: MIN - Lorebass - OWA

Thoughts: What a terrible team. Lorebass should draft a new race and not waste amazing picks on players who will… rot. Okay here’s the team needs: The runner’s kinda boring, but serviceable. Dorf Blitzer is weak, blockers are zeros, no other positionals of note. I think the pick to go is to upgrade the blitzer. Let’s see what’s good on the board. Can only be a blitzer….

Pick: Dorian O’ Danger [CLEM], ST+,Mighty Blow,+AG,Tackle,Guard - Holy shell, this is tragic. A monster of a blitzer with the ability to hit or carry or support or anything. Sucks that the team sucks anyway.

2:BUF - Jeffro - DE

Thoughts - New Team, priority I think goes to picking up an monstrous blitzer…. Damn Lorebass, This is where Dorian deserves to be. Let’s see who’s interesting. At least Blitzer is skill/blitz. Comp draft pick goes to a witch elf i think, which is Skilled. I just opened up the comp draft for the first time… AND WHAT ARE THESE PLAYERS OH MY GOD. Okay, I see monstrous blitzer players here, so i think im going back to the prediction and switch it around, blitzer from cmp draft, and witch elf from main draft.

Pick Main: F Raffo [ITBA] Wrestle,ST+,Tackle,Dodge,SS I think pick conservatively here, with a solid roleplayer as a witch elf, so F raffo is a solid role player with muscles.

Picks Comp - Whitney Mercilus (+ST, +ST, Block, Guard) , A.J. Hawk [OHIO] (Tackle, +AG, +ST, [Skill]), or Otaro Alaka [EnM] (+MA,+MA,Guard,Mighty Blow,Tackle) -- All ridic dark elf blitzers. Would hate to see these on the other side.

3: KC - Sergtacos - Chaos

Thoughts - New Team too. Coach is kinda unorthodox, will be fun to see. I have a feeling he goes for the ineffable Ape here as a Warrior. For the comp draft, I honestly think he’ll be picking strong hitters there as goats. Let’s see here.

Pick Main: Travis Lewis [OK] - +ST,+AG,+AG,Dodge - This is one hell of a carrier.
Pick Comp: Whitney Mercilus (+ST, +ST, Block, Guard) , A.J. Hawk [OHIO] (Tackle, +AG, +ST, [Skill]), or Tom Mack (+AG,+MA,+ST,Block,Dodge) as goats. The first one is a great hitter, next pair are neat all-rounders.

4: CIN - Dutchlife - Khemri

Thoughts: An obvious need is a new tomb guardian. Others seem pretty respectable except for the blitzer, but that just got snapped up. LEt’s see who the best tombo is on the board. (Str/Big)

Pick: Earl Varney [IVCC] - Mighty Blow,+ST,Block,[Skill],[Skill] as a tombo seems like a beast. Easy pick.

5: NE - Wolvezz - CD

Thoughts: Ballin bull seems great, but the hitting bull, and three blockers SUUUUCKS. Let’s see what goes there. Bull: Str/Blitz, same for Chorf.

Pick: For Bull: Amberle Blackwell (Block,Mighty Blow,Tackle,+ST) This is basically my hitter and hes gorgeous.

Alright i got bored faster than i thought i would. POSTING THIS. Maybe Part TWO comes later with 6-10!

NBFL Season 27 Draft Preview

Once again it is time to bring out the stop-watches, prepare the bench-press, and not-so-subtly ask if their mom used to work as a stripper; yes, the time has come for another NBFL Draft! A new huge wave of graduates from the college ranks is earnestly seeking to test themselves at the pro level, and pretty soon we'll find out where their new homes will be! Let's take a look at some suggested draft picks for each of the franchises:

(Note: at the time of publication, the order of the Expan Draft is unknown. Thus suggestions are made off of fit)

(Note II: new franchises will be marked with an * on their name, as most haven not officially declared what they will be called yet)

1. Mangledsota Many-Men / Lorebass / Old World Alliance

So far, the first ever OWA experiment in the NBFL has...not gone very well. Armed with the first overall pick going into their third season, coach Lorebass has an opportunity to add a top-tier talent to the roster and finally start winning games...maybe.

Possible Pick: Dorian O'Danger, Dwarf Blitzer (ST+,Mighty Blow,+AG,Tackle,Guard)

Replacing the permed Troll Slayer draftee is an option, but vastly upgrading the Dwarf Blitzer with Mr O'Danger seems like a tempting path to take. Last year's blitzer draftee had a respectable rookie season with five touchdowns and eight casualties; hopefully this one can have a similar early impact.

2. Buffalo Chills* / Jeffro / Dark Elves

After experimenting with Khorne for three seasons, Jeffro has finally decided to stop playing with one (maybe both) arms tied behind his back, and is giving himself an actual chance to win by switching to Dark Elves. Armed with a thematic name and the #2 overall pick, plus a potentially high pick in the Expan Draft, it may not be a stretch to say that this could be a successful first year team.

Main Draft: Mark "The Dark" Bruener, Blitzer (Guard,Dodge,+MA,+AG,Block)

A ton of options for a new team, but getting a fast, agile guard Blitzer is a great support piece to build around.

Expan Draft: A.J. Hawk [OHIO], Blitzer (Tackle, +AG, +ST, [Skill])

Perhaps Jeffro lucks out a bit and is able to take one of his old college graduates, thus giving the DEs a potential game-breaker out of the gate.

3. Kansas City* / Sergtacos / Chaos

Joining the NBFL for the first time, coach Serg will be running the notoriously fickle Chaos roster in the big leagues. Will be be tempted by a pure bash build, or will he wisely use skills like stand firm and tentacles to win games?

Main Draft: Earl Varney, Warrior (Mighty Blow,+ST,Block,[Skill],[Skill])

Though there a lot of options for the highly flexible Beastman spot, strong warriors are the key to a good Chaos team. And if you slap Guard and Standfirm on Mr Varney, you've got a perfect player to anchor your front line for seasons to come (hopefully).

Expan Draft: Tom Mack, Beastman (+AG,+MA,+ST,Block,Dodge)

A dream scenario would see Serg get his own version of 'Broadway Joe', the legendary Beastman who won several awards and a Super Bowl trophy during his storied career. One could only hope to have half the career that the ancient goat (and some would say, G.O.A.T.) had.

4. No-Skincinnati Bungles / Dutchlife / Khemri

It was a rough inaugural season for the Bungles, though it is always tough for Khemri in this league. A 2/6/6 record earns coach Dutchlife the fourth overall pick, with both a Tomb Guardian and Blitzer as key needs; which one will he look to address first?

Possible Pick: Skulland Crossbonies IV, Blitzer (+ST,Mighty Blow,Tackle,Frenzy)

While it is extremely tempting to snag one of the +ST/Block players as a Tomb Guardian, there is a 100% chance that you can, at worst, get one with at least Block at pick #38. Thus it is better to take the best Blitzer possible early, and while you go could with a few different options, a St4 Frenzy piece would probably be my preference.

5. New Zigguratland Chariots / Wolvezzz / Chaos Dwarf

Last season's aggressive trade-up from #5 to #2 to take the Pillsbury Doughboy [UM] didn't seem to pan out, with only six casualties and a sub-par record. Will coach Wolvezzz finally draft a Bull Centaur, or will he look to improve the Blocker corps early?

Possible Pick: Rocky Calmus, Bull Centaur (Mighty Blow,+AG,Dodge,Juggernaut,Block)

Replacing his current "defensive" Bull (with all of four casualties in 27 games), Mr Calmus can come in and from day 1 be the mobile hammer that the Chariots have sorely lacked.

6. B'altimoor Sk'avens / Uber / Skaven

The inaugural season for the Sk'avens didn't have as much success as coach Uber may have liked, but with an early pick in this draft, he may be able to find a difference maker to help aim for a .500 record in the upcoming campaign.

Possible Pick: Smitherman, Blitzer (Guard,Mighty Blow,+AG,+AG,Frenzy)

While you could draft a Gutter Runner with a bunch of stats, the reality is you aren't going to win with rats unless you have some quality Blitzers to do the dirty work.

7. Lost Dogs of San Angeles / Amon242 / Nurgle

While I'm pretty sure that the logo is out of date, the Lost Woofs aren't too far off from being a competitor in the AFC West. It will be interesting to see if coach Amon decides to potentially take the first Big off the board, or if he replaces one of the two permed Bloaters.

Possible Pick: Charlie LaPradd, Rotspawn (Guard,+ST,Block)

We'll have a little fun and take the Big, as Mr LaPradd is just so good and the Strength category has some depth to it for the first time in, like, ever.

8. Pittsburgh* / Kzarik / Dark Elves

After losing several key players in absolutely brutal fashion the past season and a half or so, coach Kzarik decided to embrace his sadistic fantasies and switch to Dark Elves. Could we have perhaps awoken a sleeping giant by giving a coach with good positioning mass agility four? [thinking emjoji]

Main Draft: Julio Jones, Blitzer (Dodge,+AG,+MA,Leap,+AG)

Apparently I forgot that all elven blitzers can be drafted from the Skilled section despite years of using DEs, but Kzarik would be remiss if he failed to make Mr Jones the first ever main draft pick of his elven empire.

Expan Draft: Otaro Alaka [EnM], Blitzer (+MA,+MA,Guard,Mighty Blow,Tackle)

Taking even more speed, Kzarik will likely have his team competing for medals in the upcoming Olympic games in addition to Blood Bowl matches.

9. Woodington Barkskins / Garcangel / Wood Elves

Most experts probably assumed immediate success for Garc with his latest variety of elves last season, but it didn't quite happen that way. Still, with a few key pieces in place, the team isn't that far off from fighting for the NFC East title.

Possible Pick: F.Raffo, Wardancer (Wrestle,ST+,Tackle,Dodge,SS)

[Ex-con watching everyone pass this player right to Garc:]

Image

10. Nawlins Lost Saints / BillBrasky / Chaos Renegades

Long have we given up on trying to predict what Nawlins will do in the draft.

Possible Pick: Steven "Gelada" Coe, Skaven Renegade (Block,Dodge,Side Step,+AG)

I guess?

11. Jakesonville Jortles / mrt1212 / High Elves

The last few seasons have been absolutely merciless to the once three-time-in-a-row AFC champion Jortles, as they have a total of...three combined Blitzers and Catchers on the roster from last year. A sane man would look to trade down and rebuild the team en mass, but mrt has never been accused of being anything but 'different'.

Possible Pick: Vai Sikehema, Blitzer (+MA,Side Step,Guard,Dodge,Sure Feet)

Perhaps a player to target after a trade-down, but Mr Sikehema would be a much needed support player on a team that needs everything it can get.

12. Philadelphia Regal Eagles / Fool / High Elves

Perhaps the first roster in this article that can legitimately simply draft the 'best available player', the Regal Eagles had an ok 4/6/6 rookie season and are looking to take the next step.

Possible Pick: Binjimen Victor, Catcher (MA+,Block,MA+,Sure Feet,AV+,Leap)

The original NCBB natural legend post-CRP ruleset, Mr Victor's brilliance went underappreciated as he shattered the all-time touchdown record for a solid, but relatively quite program. In Philly, he would be a huge scoring threat and let the rest of the roster focus on improving their defense (25 allowed in 13 games).

13. Brew More Gents* / ryanfitz / Dwarfs

We were down to three teams vying to be coached by the drunken Fitz in his return to the NBFL.

It was the New Mork Gitz,
the New York Jumps,
and the Brew More Gents *a brewing and stumbling gentleman's collective

The teams were all well suited to the modern NBFL game, however one team had an obvious advantage when it came to recruiting the coach and landing a coveted Pro-franchise status.

As part of his compensation package Coach Fitz will be paid in gold whenever he remembers to ask for his payments and will always be provided with a game-time Keg of the Gents finest.

When asked to comment on his coaching the new team, Fitz slurred.
"sh..I'mmm guna mhakkk dez boyz inta cham... cham...peonz.
Der good ladz. Remhind me of some of my early days...
Whe'll put some...hmmmnnh.. whins on the board and some goatz or elves in the ground...."
After which he fell to his knees, and walked around saying "Look, I'm a dorf!"

Fluff and stuff!

Main Draft: Alex Delton (QB) #16, Runner (+AG,Leader,Block,Sure Hands,Sure Feet)

Not as sexy as some other options, but has the essential skills you want on a Dwarf runner (probably, I have no ducking idea how to play them).

Expan Draft: Whitney Mercilus, Blitzer (+ST, +ST, Block, Guard)

What a pain in the ass this guy would be!

14. San Foulcisco 69'ers / Nicodemus1 / Necromantic Horror

After carrying a ton of permed players for years, Nico finally bit the bullet (non-silver, of course) and cleaned house. Now, with needs at both Wights and Golem spots, will he be able to fill three of those spots with his trifecta of draft picks?

Possible Pick: Amberle Blackwell, Flesh Golem (Block,Mighty Blow,Tackle,+ST)

Presented with a plethora of options, Nico could elect to take a top-end Golem now and look for a blitzer in the second round. Mr Blackwell is already at 68 spps, and would likely add Guard to his arsenal pretty quickly.

15. Titannesse Kraken's / GotrekSlayer / Nurgle

The Krakens are going to be an interesting team in this draft, as they have one clear need (fourth Pestigor) and could move up to take a stud. But they also have two two-skill players that could also be upgraded on (one Pesti and one Bloater) if they desire, so what strategy Gotrek employs will be fun to watch.

Possible Pick: Shawn Andrews, Pestigor (Block,Mighty Blow,+AG)

A bit of a project at only 31 spps, but the foundation is there for Mr Andrews to be a nice mobile hitter for the Krakens.

16. Arizona Redbulls / Klazam / Chaos Dwarf

A respectable 5/3/6 record in their first season saw Arizona just outside the NFC playoff picture, but their foundation is set with two stud Bull Centaurs. Thus the team can look to upgrade on a rookie blocker, the Hob horde, or even the dreaded Mino.

Possible Pick: Bud Brooks, Blocker (Block,Mighty Blow,+ST)

Plenty of ways you could go if you want a blocker, but snagging the +ST and leaving yourself a lot of room to grow for Guard/SF/Claw hopefully down the line could be a good idea.

17. Carolina Pythoness / Waagh / Dark Elves

Coach Waagh landed himself a game winner last season in the Expan Draft, and was able to keep a lot of the support pieces intact as well. Thus he can look to add even more players around them, wether they are quality linos or another Witch Elf.

Possible Pick: R.J. "Patas Monkey" Prince, Lineman (Guard,Block,Mighty Blow,Side Step)

The first pure lino off the board, Mr Prince isn't as sexy as some of the Witch Elf options, but will likely make a bigger impact as a nice support piece and defensive roadblock.

18. Warpstone Bay Ratscallions / Arcayn / Skaven

We collectively gave Warpstone Bay a 'D' grade last time around, and the experts were proven right as always when these rats went 3/2/6. With no were to go but up in the draft grades this time, can Coach Arcayn replace a permed Blitzer and potentially upgrade two Gutter Runners in one go?

Possible Pick: Andrew "Twinkle Toes" Hosford, Gutter Runner (Block,Sure Hands,Guard,+AG)

A mobile guard piece who also has the capability to provide clutch pickups in traffic? Surely even Arcayn can't disagree with this one!

19. Chicago PallBearers / MrNomad / Shambling Undead

Returning to the league mid-season last year, coach Nomad knocked off the rust and is looking to compete in a brutally tough NFC North division with his ancient Undead team.

Possible Pick: Buck Heatseeker, Wight (+AG,Mighty Blow,Tackle)

While replacing the -Ag zombie is a priority, replacing the niggled Wight is also a good strategy. Several options are available here, but none offer the agility that Mr Heatseeker has. Now, if only the team could make this their on-field logo:

Image

20. Las Vegas Gamblers* / Doofr / Wood Elves

Caught up in the forest frenzy, coach Doofr has finally said goodbye to his dastardly Ag6 duo and will try a different flavor of elf. Will he be able to find the same level of success?

Main Pick: Lee, Wardancer (AG+,Dodge,Sure Hands,Tackle,MB)

Poor Doofr will have to settle for mere Ag5, but he'll probably be ok.

Expan Pick: Dave Brown [DUKE], Wardancer (Block, +ST, Side Step, Fend, [Skill])

Well shit, this isn't a bad duo to start a team with.

21. New York Kroaks / ex-convict / Slann

The Kroaks managed to make the playoffs in their second season despite only four wins, thanks in part to tying eight of their opponents. For them to really compete, they'll have to retool the Blitzer corps, where one rookie and two permed players currently reside.

Possible Pick: Elijah Woodhousii, Blitzer (Block,Guard,Dodge,Side Step)

I guess if you want to replace a frog blitzer, drafting a former frog blitzer makes a lot of sense. Of course, if coach Ex-con did stay put in the draft, it would mark the first time in...ever?

22. Destroit Lynels / dashergeaux / Chaos Dwarf

The Lynels have established themselves as an NFC power, consistently making deep playoff runs. In order for them to keep doing so, they could hope a stud Bull Centaur falls to them; but what are the odds that that happens?

Possible Pick: Travis Lewis, Bull Centaur (+ST,+AG,+AG,Dodge)

The moment that we've all been waiting for in the draft! However, it will be up to coach Dash to decide which of the two current Bulls will be replaced by this imposing player who is ultimately still a project...for now.

23. Denver Brontos / jmonforton / Lizardmen

A consistent AFC player, the Brontos only really need to draft two Saurii to round out their roster. Fortunately for them, this is perhaps the deepest Strength draft in recent memory.

Possible Pick: Brandon Burlsworth, Saurus (+ST,Block,Mighty Blow)

There are several very enticing four to five skill players available, but passing on a +ST player might be too tough to do.

24. Atlatl Flechettes / Nelphine / Lizardmen

Another team of scaley bois, the Flechettes have been a dominant regular season squad that hasn't quite found the playoff success that they are seeking. Fortunately they only really need one Saurus and they're good to go, so we'll see if coach Nelphine can't get himself a perfect fit.

Possible Pick: Torfi Ulfsson, Saurus (Mighty Blow,Tackle,Block,Guard)

Sitting at 75 spps, Mr Ulfsson is a mere completion away from something like Stand Firm, Frenzy, or Grab and becoming a complete player.

25. Dallas Crowbar / OTS / Dwarfs

While he will ultimate switch races to help complete the dream of having the NFC Elf, OTS is currently living out his bearded fantasies and managed to make the playoffs last season. Fortunately for him, the team doesn't need much, and could perhaps let things simply fall to him in the draft.

Possible Pick: Alex "Allen's Swamp Monkey" Eliopulos, Blocker (Block,Guard,Mighty Blow,Side Step)

While he could probably upgrade slighty on one Blitzer or either Troll Slayer, replacing the permed Longbeards with nearly identical players isn't a bad move either.

26. Cleaved Land Bedlam / captainmalkor / Chaos Chosen

Another team that has consistently been in playoff contention, the Bedlam will look to finally break through and make the AFC title game. With an obvious upgrade spot for the rookie Warrior, there should be no shortage of options for Cleaved Land to pick from.

Possible Pick: David Ghesquiere, Warrior (Block,[skill],Mighty Blow,Guard)

A [Skill] roll on a team with mutation access? And who's already at 61 spps for another skill roll potentially this season? Yes, please.

27. Icelandic Dolts / asteflix / Norse

Well, it took 33 games but the infamous 'reset game' finally happened for these Norse. Still, with a Super Bowl ring on his finger, coach Aste simply needs to retool the roster and follow his formula to get back to winning.

Main Draft: Brandon Mello, Ulfenwhatever (Mighty Blow,Tackle,Block,Guard)

He may not ever be Dwight Stephenson, but he can do a pretty good impersonation, I would imagine.

Expan Pick (Pool II): J. Collins, Blitzer (Mighty Blow, Tackle, Guard)

His team was so beat up that the league office took pitty on Aste and gave him a Pool II comp pick, where he could reasonably add another Ulf or a Blitzer.

28. C'attle C'haos / MenonaLoco / Chaos Chosen

Very little has slowed down C'attle over the years, though their roster has been chipped away at in recent seasons. A permed Warrior could be replaced, or a two-skilled one could be upgraded on, but this is also where a surprise draft-day fall could end up in Meno's lap.

Possible Pick: Martine Bercher, Beastman (Block,Mighty Blow,Tackle,[skill])

While not the biggest need, Mr Bercher sits at 51 spps and a potential [Skill] roll to make him very, very interesting.

29. Miami Coronablights / Relezite / Skaven

While coach Rel will likely lament blowing a lead in perhaps the best AFC title game ever, and maybe his best chance to win a championship with rats, the roster is still absurdly loaded.

Possible Pick: Hap Arnold, Rat Ogre ([Skill],Guard,Block)

He's done it before, and if I recall correctly, he had a legitmate need somwhere on the roster. This time? There isn't anything he needs to add, and can take a luxury like this, or perhaps a thrower or lino that ammuses him.

30. Los Angeles Glams / Stimme / High Elf

One of the few, if only, NFC teams to win multiple Super Bowls during the Grue Era, the Glams have consistently picked late in the first round but always seem to develop those players into stars. Can they strike gold again?

Possible Pick: Levi Carlson, Blitzer (Block,Tackle,Mighty Blow,[skill],Dauntless)

With two needs in the Blitzer corps, and several options available, Stimme can go with whatever he likes best.

31. Green Baynana Grabbers / happygrue / Simyin

Coming oh-so-close to being the first and likely only coach to ever win the NBFL with apes, coach Grue nonetheless returns a squad that will be among the favorites to win it all this season. Will he choose to add even more tools to the toolbox, or is it time to replace some of the old reliables at a potential short term cost?

Possible Pick: Phillips, Gorilla (Block,MB,Guard,Tackle)

There may not be a better time to look to replace Strength players, and getting a four-skill Gorilla with 67 spps at pick #31 is a steal.

32. Houston Treants / Bazakastine / Wood Elves

Picking at #32 can only mean one thing...that you're the very last pick of the first round!

Possible Pick: Melquise Stovall, Catcher (Catch,Block,Sure Hands,SS,Guard)

This selection is 100% going to happen, guaranteed.
