Did I find a bug or did I misunderstand how assists work?

Nurgle, 2nd turn 2nd half. Pestigor #11 tries to block Snot #16 but only gets 2 dice. Why? I count a +1 assist on each side so the result should still be st3 vs st1?

Same story 3rd turn 2nd half. Pestigor #6 blocks snot #17.

If both sides get an assist it is st4 vs st2.

Assists always add to base strength. They do not cancel each other.

3+1 vs 1+1.

4 vs 2 is a two die block, because the greater strength is not more than double the lesser.

Now, I didn't watch, so I don't know if Guard was involved, but they *would* have cancelled each other out, if the player with the St3 player had used their assist to mark the other assist instead, as players can not assist blocks if marked by another opposing player *unless* they have guard.

You either give an assist or you don't.

If you give an assist, it adds to the base strength. It does not nullify an opposing assist.

You nullify an assist, if you mark the player that offers the assist with another player not involved in the block. In that case there's no +St involved.

Preventing an assist = nullify an assist.

EDIT. It's largely not important - I was not contradicting any of the posts by other people, I was just clarifying to OP, why they might have misunderstood how assists work.

The player assisting either can or cannot assist.

Once that is determined, opposing assists are added to their player's base strength. They do not nullify each other.

I never claimed they did. As I mentioned, I was not offering a correction to your point, I was pointing out what kind of wording might have confused OP.

You literally state that they cancel each other out in your first post. You have stated some confusing wording then claim you are pointing out confusion.
As Sir Topham would say "you have caused confusion and delay"

I state that if using the player that was used to assist to instead mark the opposing player assisting, the original assist would be nullified. I did not say that if both players get an assist, they get cancelled out.

Those are two very seperate statements.

The original questioner clearly thought that two opposing assists canceled each other out.

So I repeat with each post, once it is determined that each side gets 1 assist, each side adds that assist to its player's base strength to determine the final strengths to determine the block dice.
