Yesterday I was playing a game vs Goblins and I was asked to deflect a bomb.
Since the bomb seemed to land on a square adjacent to the boundary line (and to my players) I chose to try to deflect it.
I failed and I discovered that the bomb was thrown into the crowd.
If I had known that the bomb was out of the pitch I would have not tried to deflect it.
The idea is: displaying, with graphics or at least with a log message (like when the ball is kicked off out of the pitch and the Touchback message appears in the log) the exact position of the bomb.
It may seem a minor detail, but knowing whether a bomb is thrown out of the pitch or not is very important to decide about the deflection attempt.

I think you are referring to this match
https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=4563144
round 4/4 second half.

From the log it seems obvious to me that the ball shoots three times south. If this information was visible from the log file during the match what you are asking is totally superfluous.

If on the other hand this information was not available in the match-log window before the intercept then you can try posting an official request here https://fumbbl.com/p/bugs - specifying that it is not a bug but a request for a new feature.

I'd have to go play a match to figure this out because I don't remember.
I don't think it shows where the bomb was intended to be thrown prior to the ask for whether you'd like to deflect or not. So if the bomb was scattering from 1 square further north or not, you wouldn't necessarily know?
It's also not very intuitive to see the bomb icon on the sideline then have to know to read the log to verify that its going out instead of landing on that spot. Maybe if it scatters out, replace the bomb icon with an arrow indicating where it went out of bounds? Probably valid for kick offs or throws as well, but less important.
Rare case, but I think thats a valid ask.

I think is not very logical to ask to decide the intercept before resolving ball scattering or bouncing, and i am not sure is in line with the Pass-Interference sequence described in page 48-51 of BB2020 user manual.

I did a couple of simulations below you see what the goblin's opponent sees in his log file during the Bomma's launch ( i used a Norse team in spite Zons... but anyway don't care).

In Fig 1, I simulated the case where the PASS result is 6 in which case the ball will land perfectly in the square indicated. Here is very easy to decide what to do (you try to take of course hoping to be able to re-launch). The only improvement one can ask is to make more evident the target square (here indicated only by a dark green and not by bomb symbol . This would be the only valid ask to have sharpen color, for instance white square or bomb symbol)

Fig2: here the result of Pass roll is 4 where 5+ would have been necessary for an Accurate Pass. So the ball bounce and the goblin opponent knows that will bounce to south west- so out of the pitch (again ... is it logical to know the result of bouncing before try to intercept? for me no)

So if we really want to debate if is right (by regulation) or logical to know the result of the bounce and/or scatter 'before' deciding whether or not to intercept... I think it is not right to know this information before the ball is resolved and landed.
If we want to make more evident the target square of bomb launch i agree this can be improved.

ah... so very likely i am missing something.
I do not arrive to find in bb2020 rulebook where is clearly indicated that one player who tries to intercept a Pass should know in advance the final result (so the final direction) of scattering/bouncing the ball (or the bomb).

If i read page 48 the Pass action sequence, scatter is decided in the "resolve pass action" which is resolved after passing interference. isn't it?

If this were true that in BB2020 scatter is resolved before the intercept (because in Test for accuracy at page 49 is included the word "land"), I think it is something weird :

means I can decide whether to intercept a ball passing over my head already knowing the "future" result of the scatter... in sum I borrowed Emmet Brown's DeLorean car, I jumped into the future and saw what happens before I decide in the present?!??
Razz Cool Razz Cool

Think of it this way : in order to intercept, your player have to be on the trajectory of the ball, and if the ball scatter 3 times in the same direction, your player could not be in the trajectory of the ball, thus you need the scatter to have been resolved.

wait a moment... ball (or bomb) scatter happens during the "ball landing". And depends by the "Test For ACcuracy" (BB2020 manual pag. 49): if your pass is inaccurate the ball will scatter from the target (final) square before landing.
If the pass is widely inaccurate you launch the ball in a D8 random direction.

The ball flies over the head (or close) of a player who can intercept, then AFTER there is the landing processand only at the end the ball scatter three times (if pass was inaccurate or widely inacurate).

So scattering, or bouncing, is something happening AT THE END of the Pass Action (during the phase called "Resolve pass action".

The PASS trajectory (and so the intercept attempt) is not impacted by the final scatter. Isn't it?

As I said. You first roll where it lands. Then you determine by the line between thrower and landing field who may intercept.

yes now i got finally, thx. As indicated in Pag 50:
the range ruler should be placed from the passing player's square to "the center of the square in which the ball will land".

So of course this means you need to know in advance the landing square. I had a bad interpretation of the Pass, i consider that for accurate or inaccurate pass the range ruler should be placed always in the direction from launcher to target (before scatter). Wrong interpretation due to my lack of tabletop experience :-/

thx for clarification
