the 2020 rules work, but just make small corrections to be good

- random should not be 50% cheaper, just full price

- and the character ups must be limited to 1, otherwise we end up with aberration dwarf runner 2+ MV 1+ AGI or elves AV 2+ which is not necessarily better

Besides, I will present to you on another topic what I will do to improve skills

I would like to see chosen at 15k/30k, and random at 10k/20k. Then you could improve the bad skills, but only so far, and it would be pretty fun doing the tradeoffs. I like it when the more adaptable coach has an advantage, just not when you can ditch the adaptability requirement by grinding.

I'd cap stat boosts at max +1 per characteristic as well and would increase MA price to 30.
I don't understand what AR 2+ is, though. Confused

Sorry, my translation is not good, French AR for English AV

We should also put the PA at the same level of MV and AV, because it is already not easy to invest in a launcher, but in addition you have a great chance of not having the PA

on the bb3 game, some players for the elves pushed up to +2 av, for example the play-off finalist had players at 11+ av dark elves

Ah I see, +2 AV, not AV 2+. It's different. Smile
I wonder how they managed to keep the Elves alive till AV 11+.
I play them a lot and they tend to die/get crippled before acquiring 2 stat boosts.

I think an elf with +2 MA is better than an elf with +2 AV, even in a clawless environment.

As far as I know on BB 3 the chalice cup playoffs have a TV cap and are resurrection. To not bloat your TV after acquiring your wanted skills it is a strategy to save up for +AV because it is so cheap TV wise.

There are 12 skills per Skill-Group. Half price random skills are a fun option. In order to make half-price skills a risky decision, there SHOULD be some bad skills.

Some of the skills in the groups are very bad, and I'm pretty sure they were just made up, intentionally weak, so that they had an even 12 skills per group with a large power spread between 'best' and 'worst'.

Should ALL the skills be 'good'? No. They made some weak ones to make the random skill idea a better risk-reward game mechanic. They did a good job with this game mechanic. They made some good bad skills.

If you complain some skills are too bad or useless.. don't roll random skills. You can't always get good stuff for half price, right? Are there people who think they should always get something good when paying half price?

Except there have been very bad skills in the game long before randoms became a thing.

I think yall have the cart before the horse here.
I'm pretty sure they didn't create bad skills to weaken randomization. They probably came up with the randomization first, decided on a D12 then had to make more skills to get each category up to 12. Those new skills just suck compared to the staple skills because all of the core mechanics of the game already had skills so the new ones had to be more niche by default.

They even split Accurate into 2 skills (Accurate and Cannoneer), I guess to have another skill to fill the 12 slots.
They nerfed passing (which was already a sub-optimal strategy) and boosted the running game (which was already the common strategy) with multi rr.

They could have split Mighty Blow into 2 skills: +1 to AV roll and another skill to add +1 to Injury roll.
That would have been way better than having Pile Driver. It would have nerfed the bash removal approach, which is common and dumbs down the games.

They could have split Tackle into 2 skills as well: active Tackle (used when blocking to cancel Dodge) and passive Tackle to cancel Dodge when a player tries to dodge away (as Shadowing's additional effect, for example). Or Block could have been split into 2, offensive Block, used when blocked, and defensive Block (as extra Fend effect), to counter Both Down when being blocked.

Dodge could have been split into 2 skills: active Dodge (used when dodging from an opponent player) and passive Dodge when blocked (as extra Defensive effect) and Safe Pair of Hands would have not been necessary.

I mean: if the concern was filling the 12 slots and the core aspects were already covered by the most common skills, then they could have just toned down the most common/useful skills by splitting them, without adding junk ones.

Block could be split into working on offense or defense too Smile But that would shake the game up *alot*
