I've been concerned with the viability and power level of skills compared to statups in the coming edition, in particular given how many of the skills are kinda weak and not really worth the TUV. I've been wondering if it'd be more balanced if instead of 20 being the standard for skills, with 30 for elite, it'd be more balanced with 10 being the standard cost for skills, with 20 for elite skills. Maybe there'd need to be an intermediate cost 15 tier, or maybe some other skills could be bumped up to elite that'd be too cheap at 10, but are fine at 20.
At any rate, if I ever got a local group doing something like that, do y'all think it'd be more balanced? and would it lead to better/more fun experience or not? |

This was my motivation for suggesting we go to age in season for Blackbox.
I don't think it's a big problem in a scheduled league, even though it's a driving dynamic. The new random rules allow skill-improvement-driven teams to explode at the expense of bloat, to such a point that more efficient teams have to take inefficient inducements to cover the gap, and it all washes out.
The one downside to all this is that it's a bit dependent on user-end nous, so it may steepen the curve slightly. But a) it's new, so the playing field is less tilted to experience, and b) it's not hard on a tabletop basis, where you learn this one roster at a time. |

Every day, everyone draws closer to my point buy league. Making me wish I had the bandwidth to keep running it so I can keep laughing at how Habeli keeps putting together incoherent masterpieces that go undefeated.
I have a league that does exactly you are suggesting Zlefin. I coukd try to hand it off to someone to run it for a season while im busy. |
