I managed to get some of my teams out of the competitive divisions thanks to a crowd funder.
I was able to literally buy my teams out.
Back in the very old days, we had a "transfer to league" button. We could pull any team out.
I think it would be great to bring that back.
Competitive ballers get to have it their way. Fluff ballers could have it their way too.
Play one or two seasons, enter a Major, then transfer before having to redraft.
As it stands, I have not played a single game in the [C]ompetive division and don't feel at all inclined to if I can't get my teams out.
You never know. Some fluff ball teams might stay. |

I guess since I voted "nuanced opinion" I should actually give it...
Redraft basically solves the grandfathered rosters problem. The real problem is the changes to available skills, starting skills, and random skill pricing. I feel like all the options are bad. The more nuanced the approach the more corner cases and implementation effort there is, I haven't seen anything that looks like a happy medium to me.
I feel like the poll is going to be dominated by who has teams they want to bring across rather than what people would think is actually best if they had no skin in the game.
My 2c as a neutral party (since I only play L and one particular league at that) is that transferring seems like the better option overall, but I'm not sure whether any specific way of transferring still is. I think maybe the best option is a transfer method, but one that leans towards being disadvantageous. People who don't want to transfer anything themselves also then don't want anyone else to, but the less advantageous the transfer is the less they really have to complain about. People who do have teams they want to bring over should be happy they get to at all and shouldn't complain about the details.
Which I guess leans me towards:
* Just pay full price for your randoms and live with it, sack the player if you want.
* Similarly anything that costs more now costs more (e.g. because it's now secondary), bad luck if you don't want it any more.
* Just remove any skills that can't be taken at all or which duplicate skills you now get for free, and at most refund the player's "level" i.e. number of skills they're considered to have taken already. I think giving back the SPP is both too complicated and too advantageous. |

Irgy makes a good point with not refunding SPP but only the player level. |
