With the 2025 rules Fumbbl now supports the Team Mascot inducement. To avoid adding more and more buttons I decided to use a different interaction mechanism. But according to incoming bug reports this seems to not be clear enough.
Of course we only get reports from people having issues and not from those were everything works out. And so I decided to run this poll to get a grasp of the actual situation.
When you have a Mascot the re-roll dialog does not offer a team re-roll button but the mascot button instead. Additionally there is a checkbox below it labelled "TRR fallback". So if you want to use a team re-roll in case the mascot fails you have to select that box. Otherwise a failed mascot will result in the roll staying the same.
For pro in blocks with more than 1 die is also a checkbox like this that would use a team re-roll in case the pro rol fails to re-roll that one (not the block die but the 3+ for pro)
The reason why there is not a new pop up in these cases is very technical. Basically it would require to rewrite the logic for all actions/rolls that can be re-rolled. So not an option.
We had several reports since sunday that indicate people did not notice that box. |

could you include images on the thread. I've not seen mascot yet, though I have played against it. But would be interested to see how it currently looks? |

I voted:
"I was a bit confused at first but understood it after a few seconds"
I think if it wasn't a test league, I'd have been a bit more wary of using it, but it's just beta so I ticked the box, failed the mascot reroll, so used a team reroll, and then understood what it was doing
Until that point where I saw what actually happens, I was unsure what it meant
I think it'd be better as 2 discrete buttons rather than 1 option plus a tickbox. if that's possible |

Yes, 2 buttons with a brief explanation written:
- button 1: Team Mascot, no TRR (fail can't be rr)
- button 2: Team Mascot and TRR (fail can be rr)
That should be clearer to understand. |

I haven't played with or against it, but it intuitively feels like the logic is the wrong way round from the way I've understood mascots. Maybe I have missed some tactical nuance, but if you can re-roll anyway after a failed mascot roll, then mascot just feels like a free attempt to get a bonus re-roll that you might as well always try for to save your real re-roll.
If the interface was all in a single box, I'd kind of expect to see a "DON'T use a re-roll if this fails" as the extra option included for completeness (or keep the positive "TRR fallback" box but have it pre-checked, so you have to wilfully unselect it if you DON'T want the fallback). Not thinking of a mascot as a free chance to save a re-roll, and not wanting to use a team re-roll if it fails, seems like the much more niche behaviour to me. |

yeah agree with this ^
That's how I thought of things too, but maybe I am missing something? |

Add me to the “make the checkbox default to checked” crew. |
