Hi there,
I was expecting to play only against teams part of squads and therefore participating to BBT, is my assumption correct ?
Did I missed this information from the rules ?
Not that it is an issue, it is just for me to understand the way BBT works. Curiosity.
Thank you very much |

Your BBT squad only plays in blackbox.
You will play against BBT squad teams and non BBT teams in Blackbox.
Your assumption is incorrect.
hope this helps |

just a remark : BBT team can play vs BBT team or vs other team which has been created for Box 1st season ONLY.
No possibility to have a spin between 2ns Season BOX team vs 1 BBT team |

Also, you can join a FUMBBL tournament with a BBT team and the games played there will count for purpose of BBT match record. |

This isn't quite true. When you enter the Blackbox draw, you aren't only paired against teams which have been "created for Box". You can be paired against a team who have played 14 cherrypicked Gamefinder games (and developed their players in that environment), and then entered that team in the Blackbox draw for their fifteenth game. There is no "Blackbox team" limitation in that respect, only a season one limitation. |

Why on earth would you cherrypick to play a game in box ;p ? |

what is the gain ?
I mean i do understand if you want to mix and match games in tinder and box.
But to cherrypick and farm a team to play a game in box and then redraft, sounds a bit weird. |

Blackbox is a bigger cherry pick than gamefinder. Basically anyone playing a tier 1 team is cherry picking against the more fun coaches that play garbage teams in box. Gamefinder makes more even pairings due to mutual choice. |

1) People are free not to play garbage teams in the Box, it's their choice; coaches playing tier 1 teams don't own the exclusive rights to play tier 1 teams, they are not privileged;
2) Gamefinder makes more even pairings assuming that both coaches are expert enough to understand if a match-up is fair and/or both coaches do care about playing a balanced match. This can in theory happen, but not often, according to my experience and to the games in progress I spot on the game page.
In the long run the Box is the best way to check coach's skill, because not being able to pick/dodge games removes the picking factor from the statistics (the GF picking factor adds more statistical noise than Box blind matchmaking factor).
Last, but not least, most of times I check a coach's win rate, the Open division one is almost always higher than their Box win rate (assuming a big enough number of games played).
That suggests that being able to pick/dodge matches affects positively the coach's win rate. |

I was making the assumption both coaches were activating teams for box only
You can of course cherry peak with one box team out of the box
You cannot use a team in box trophy for game finder till the team plays the trophy |

I do Box when I'm looking at the quarter hour and gamefinder between. I have a team that just does Box, but otherwise I don't go by team, I just play what I want and can get a game for. BBT isn't for me, I don't play enough or in the right time zone. You will definitely run into my mixed-format teams, and I can't be the only one.
As far as fairness, if there's not a huge skill discrepancy, I don't see one side having a better theory of victory as a problem. That's just part of the competition, if we're both licking our chops at the same fight but one of us has outsmarted the other. People complain about luck being OP and then reject actual skill as cheese.... |
