I am not a dedicated Orc player, so take my oppinion with caution. But I think the Gobbo is exactly that: TTM ammunition for a 1TTD attempt. I would not want to spend a lot of SPP to develop him into a MA8 ball carrier only to see him be crippled failing a landing or going down a Troll's throat.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Consider that just a mere AG 2+ Goblin increases a lot the odds of 1TTD. There is no need to throw a MA 8 AG 2+, a MA 6 AG 2+ Goblin could be enough.
Moreover, eventually the MA 8 will have to be fired, so, as long as you can use him, you should squeeze the maximum gain from him.
Maybe winning a one-off Box game is not that important, I understand it, but in a tournament scoring a 1TTD could make the difference.

I could see it. Personally, I want a 60k fouler more than I want a prospect at an OTS machine who will probably never make it to 14 SPP anyway, especially if said fouler gets me more successful defenses and this results in fewer OTS opportunities.

Orcs are kinda weird now, because suddenly they want bodies, and they can't afford to care about TV bloat in a lot of formats, which is new.

I think Orcs are always going to be on the weaker side of balanced when given the choice for a lot of formats because no one wants to play orc mirrors. Like if you mess up a ruleset and humans are too good and a bunch of human players show up it's whatever. But having having a bunch of orcs can make for a boring league or tournament.

GW should change the official name of the position to Mr. Throw in season 4.

Flashbacks to LRB6 when they were as bad as Goblins once the format hit 1500k....
