You need to update it though, because my Orcs have 58.33% win rate currently. You know, a small sample size doesn't tell the whole story. The closer to the infinite a sample gets, the more accurate it will be. |
Yes, you've won a few games since you started to play the team beyond the 1st season.
But speaking about competitiveness... Box after 1st season is not really a competitive environment with BBT.
You also talk about how one should not rely on a couple of players with boosted stats...

ahaha. So you don't like when people do the same as you? |

It's often a case of someone making up a new rule in their head, or within their local community if they have one, and then applying it to everyone else who's obviously unaware, and not bound by it.
Examples abound. Having a developed player, with 5 or 6 skill? Cheater. Foul in turn 16? What a horrible person you must be. Playing in blackbox or tournaments with a team that previously played one or more gamefinder matches? That's a terrible violation. Activating in box at a time when supposedly weaker coaches (don't say NA timezone!) are around? Don't you dare having just those timeslots available to play. Do better!
Of course none of these are actual rules, but that doesn't stop people from criticizing trespassers. When SideshowBob won the BBT, some had a go at him for using lowball stunties to face mostly rookie teams, as if he was the first one to do it. If one cared to look, it was even done by those who brought it up. Go figure.
For any "made up rule" violation it's possible or even probable that the accuser has done the same thing themselves at some point, but there's probably an exception that exhonerates them completely, or it will be concocted in the future if needed. One rule for thee but not for me!
Just play as you like. There are rules in the game's rulebook, and there are rules for the website. That's all. |

I respect skill, focus and commitment that athletes have, but I'm not interested in those sports.
Also, I talked about Olympics because you brought them to the debate. I guess the implied reason was the spirit of modern Olympics: "It's important to participate, not winning". This is not a competitive spirit. The important is winning, not participating. Everybody can participate to a contest, it's not hard, but only one wins eventually, that's the hard part.
I'm a guy interested in brain activities, games where the brain matters, not the muscles or other body elements, such as coordination, agility etc.
The best part of a man is his brain, developing the brain made mankind evolve. We would not be better than animals without our mind.
If modern Olympics will ever feature mind games I might be interested to watch them.

I don't think BBT is that competitive either. For sure a shorter Season would improve Season 2+ competitive experience, I agree that it could be better, but it's a free site and I have to play with 15-game Season.

There is no contradiction because I'm not a puritan, I'm a radical (nod to WH40k Inquisitors, for those who don't know it).
Puritan approach: I won't fight fire with fire because I don't like fire and I don't want to use it.
Radical approach: I don't like fire, but I'm ready to use fire to fight it, because I'm pragmatic.
You can go to a gunfight without a gun because you hate the guns or you can hate the guns but, since you are pragmatic, you will bring a gun to be on an even ground.
Since people can and will use against me stat freaks AND I don't want to be at a competitive disadvantage, I build my own stat freaks to be competitive.
Simple like that. If stat freaks can't be trimmed/removed from the game, I'm forced to use them if I want to be competitive (and I must be competitive in a competitive division).
I'm open to a shorter Season and capping stat boosts too, as I suggested in the past.
Capping stat boosts is not possible, but we could have a shorter Season.
Sadly I don't see people hating stat freaks endorsing the proposal of a shorter Season.
Last, but not least, if you think that first Season is competitive and Season 2+ isn't, they we would be better off playing NAF no progression resurrection, because would make the games even more competitive by removing the effect of Injuries and level ups on next game.
Why this is not suggested by Season 1 lovers?
About Java talking about site rules: he refused to play 2 scheduled Box games with me (I have the PMs and I can prove it).
One time he claimed he activated by accident, the second time he used an excuse not to play vs me.
I don't accept sermons by guys behaving like that, sorry. |

No need to counter the baseless accusations, I've grown accustomed to the endless stream of abuse. Poor guy. So sad. |

PMs registered by the site are not baseless accusations. I found 2 scheduled Box games and in both occasions Java refused to play vs me. This are facts, not baseless accusations. |

Oh boy another thread of Dakka being toxic.
Play what you want how you want. The only way anyone should be upset is if you are specifically playing in a way to be a jerk to others. There are arguments over what that might be (personally I'd point to taking max time every turn or noob hunting exclusively in GF (I am not saying never play less experienced players, just that there are some coaches on the site that only will play against less experienced players)) but playing suboptimally really cannot be considered one of those ways. Even the ways I listed aren't against site rules, and you are still free to do them if you wish.
This is just another thread of Dakka thinking everyone should bow before how he wants to play when they have no reason nor obligation to, because they are people and are allowed (and should be encouraged) to play in a way that makes the game fun for them. |

Wow, strong main character energy there, buddy.
It might come as a surprise, but not everything is about you.
If you've got outstanding issues with me (and you seem to have them, as people have been sending me links to clips of you making up things about me on your stream) you can send me a message, and we can try to solve our differences like adults.
Or you can just be your usual self, il mondo è bello perché è vario. |
