"Embarassing"? I play vs people that asked me to play too...and a lot of "skilled coaches" refuse the game, what is the problem?
You are judging a behaviour that is not against the rule, I've just said that, in my opinion, it is not right to freeze a team waiting 4 days to stop the situation and allow my team to play again.

I've stopped to play BB live for family issues, but in my league there were people like Boar, Rolex, Owen, Gotti (people that was in nation cups) and I've done very good things in BB, not like you ofc, you are a real legend, but I can defend myself too.
Anyway was just a consideration...and I really do not accept to be responsable for other faults.

Like saying:"if i go out in the nighte and a thief rub me is a problem...so don't go out in the night".
The stole action should be punished...that's all.
Thanks for chat...see ya to all

Well, I somehow am ranked in the top 60 despite my obvious lack of skill, but the issue with wanting to face me is I only really am able to activate in late NA time box, and I only play box to prevent myself from being a cherrypicker. Because I would very much be one if I didn't.

gamefinder is your friend in this case we can arrange a match in a convenient time for both.
pm me

ciao! Cool

@RD, sure. Ping me, we'll work out a time. I'm even farther afield than Drrek, though: he's in the eastern half, I spent the morning watching the Pacific.

I tried, I got up to like 101st or 103rd on the CR ratings and then lost like 10 out of the next 14 games

Jump is right that cherry-picking opponents is not illegal... But maybe it should be.

I see a lot of new players being farmed for CR (in particular by a certain Spanish player) and can't help to think that this is a rotten welcome to the community. We all cherished the wins when learning blood bowl, and we don't know how many people lost enthusiasm or left fumbbl for losing those matches. For what?

This could be solved by preventing star or bellow players from receiving offers from mega stars or legends. They could still play by proposing the match, blackbox, or private leagues.

They'd wait more to play but get more balanced games.

I didn't note down who the two coaches were that locked Jump's teams. I did notice that 4 days after those games, they had not been back to the site. I don't know if thay have been back since.
Maybe they were banned.

There is a rule that says "Coaches are expected to play reasonably balanced games."
It mentions teams but not coaches. I always thought that was a bit strange.

Some people don't care much about CR, rank, maybe not even win%.

More important is "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!" Twisted Evil

Everyone is driven by something different. That which seems useless to some, is important to others.
I do not respect high TV coaches who reach the summit by picking, but who am I to judge.

But I agree that the consequences of their behaviour often hurt the community as a whole by driving away potential users and staining the reputation of the site. And if they are incapable of caring about this by themselves, they should be forced to.

The problem should be addressed in some way. But I have no idea how. And frankly, I've been here forever and this topic has been discussed to death and back for twenty years now.

I like the idea of guardrails, but I think a warning message on the acceptance screen would be better than a firm rule. Like above the "accept/decline" buttons, a red "CAUTION" blurb letting you know about a coaching skill mismatch.

Like, it's not just pickers. In the middle of the night, I'll take whatever comes my way, and if it's a brand new coach, frankly, I don't want the risk of having to go to the admins because they freaked out and DC'ed. I also don't like the risk of driving them off the site because they didn't get enough warning.

But it would suck if noobs could only play other noobs, a one-way guardrail does nothing for the babe in the woods who picks their own experience without enough information, and there's still the problem of veterans getting teams stranded by noobs who pick them. A warning would address all that.

Speaking as someone very new to Fumbbl....it can be very difficult just to figure out how to get back in after a DC. The first time it happened to me it took me a while just to find out where to click to get back in. The second time I thought to check Discord, and saw that the whole site was down. Just be very sure that punishment is actually warranted please. Not everyone that is new is from BB3.

Oh look the most obnoxious shark on the site is complaining about the conduct of other people.

GFY. You’re just straight up bad for Fumbbl. Nobody should be accepting games from you in the first place. If the people bailing on games you are stomping them in then the only mistake they have made was taking the game in the first place.

Play some opponents who can actually give you a game then whine.

Just wanted to call out a special thanks to you for trying on this and also working to get back in when you DC!

It's also a good point that not all new players will have a good understanding of the client let alone how to work it when things don't work for them at first. A lot don't even know the settings and markings that can help make the experience better, so as I said we should be inviting and teaching, not smacking and gatekeeping newbies.

I think perhaps there might possibly also be something of an increased 'entitlement' over time from some players, whether they're new players to FUMBBL or old grognards?

In contrast to the old days where Blackbox meant (if I remember correctly, it's a dim and dusty memory at this point!) logging into some linked IRC channel to do the draw and then manually arranging to play your opponent in a client that didn't automatically load from the website, if you have instead only ever seen (or become used to) slicker and more automated process (either coming from other fantasy football computer programs, or experiencing improvements over time on FUMBBL itself), then maybe folk become less tolerant of friction, and experience any kind of problem as some kind of intolerable personal attack? I think it's perhaps easy for this to bleed over into expectations of opponents as well as expectations of the systems that allow us to play.

Opponents aren't automated NPCs served up for people's gaming entertainment, they're equal fellow collaborators in the game. Talk to them, be generous, acknowledge that sometimes things will go wrong, and chill out when they do: that's what I would suggest!

Don't worry, Jump will learn from this and will join the 3:59ers, with the difference that in that group they are praised because "they savour the game". And when you'll point at them, they will tell you to "be excellent". I'm of the opinion that some "notable coaches" here should be outright banned, their groups closed, and adios
