S2+ teams are worse for balance/fair matchups.
S2+ is well exemplified by your norse team, where catcher is a Legend with Dodge, block, SS, +2ma, +1ag.
Basicly a stupider version of BB.
If you want competetive s02 play, leave The bbt out of it IMO. |

If you think that BBT is competitive and BBT Season 2+ is not you are free not to play BBT Season 2+.
I see no issue.
Instead playing Chaos Season 1 game 1 vs Norse Season 1 game 1 in BBT is balanced? Sure!
Even Season 1 is not balanced. Also, I watch a lot these BBT games, a lot of them pit a very good coach vs a so-so coach. I watch many of them.
Now, if BBT were played only by Legends and Mega-Stars, you could even have a point, but it's not a competition based on close-ranked coaches.
Many games happen between very differently-skilled coaches.
It's not that elite as you seem to suggest.
About my Norse team: I didn't decide to have the Season Re-Draft. Given the current ruleset, the best way to build Norse is a stat freak Valk with a support staff of rookies.
You are blaming the ruleset, basically, I just adapted to it.
I even suggested to play with a shorter Season, which would trim more the freaks, I'm not a fan of freaks but, if everybody can have a freak, probably they will build one, and I have to build a freak myself to be competitive.
Simple like that.
If you think that development breaks the game nice, then it would be better to play NAF format, instead of BBT, because even in BBT there are the stat freaks (they are not used for as many games as on Season 2+ teams, but they exist there too).
15 game-Season allows to build and play with freaks for a while (not with 4 stat boosts, but maybe +1 MA and/or +2 MA or +1 AG).
Anyway, if Season 2+ BBT has no appeal, amen, I will still play my Season 2+ teams, with or without it. No problem for me. |

I know bbt is largely decided by who you spin.
There isnt enough playerbase for mass s02 teams at the moment.
If it was made somehow more appealing, eg The Pro bowl is a nice concept. |

I guess the idea was to create something to 'increase the mass'.
Since we have a BBT for Season 1 teams, I would suggest to not compete against that Format. Thus I would create a BBT for 'all freshly re-drafted teams with at least 15 games played'.
The current settings would mean that Teams from the new Format would not spin into teams from the current BBT and vice versa.
I guess it would not be possible at the moment to differentiate which kind of games have been played in season 1 (GF or Box). But maybe there is a way.
Furrhermore I would stick to the current season length to prevent an early forced re-draft. |

It wasn't my intention to make something to compete with BBT Season 1 or to argue about the most competitive BBT format (S1 or S2+). It's not a thread BBT vs BBT S2+, I'm genuinely not interested in that debate.
Yes, my intent was increasing the number of Season 2+ teams playing in the Box.
I know, people play the BBT mostly but we could try to offer a Season 2+ BBT (with a final tournament as the BBT Steel Gauntlet) and see what happens (assuming implementing such format doesn't require too much work).
No high hopes, I guess that BBT would overshadow BBT S2+, but if there were more Season 2+ teams playing it the Box it would be positive enough for me. |

If I understood your idea correctly you wanted to play a bbt with split seasons. I creat a new team apply to Matts BBT idea. Play 10 games season 1, re-draft and play 10 more games with season 2.
I see the following topics:
1) People need to decide which BBT they want to participate with a new team
2) People are forced to redraft after 10 games instead of 15, which is not ideal for tournament builds
3) You exclude all those BBT one season played teams
In my idea I would look what we currently have and build from there. Like ProBOWL. We know there are a lot of teams that play one season BBT... That is a huge potential. Whynot use it? |

Forgive my ignorance, but what is ProBOWL? It's been mentioned twice but I'm not familiar |

I voted no because I don't like the idea of current BBT being morphed into a combination of S1 and S2 games for a single run. That is how I understood Matt's plan.
I like BBT as it is, and especially enjoy not running into min maxed experienced teams that are beyond their first season so the playing field is quite equal. I like that protection and plan to keep playing that way.
If I get a squad to finish the run quickly, and do not keep a team on the side for steel gauntlet, then I might consider trying to sign up for season 2+ BBT (assuming it is unmerged with current BBT) and perhaps try to catch an IDT in the process. IDT is now very hard because getting games in the box after the first season is difficult (as is discussed elsewhere).
But any efforts would be secondary to the normal BBT for me, which I have struggled to finish before (three times finished so far). |

I voted yes because I thought that was a terrible idea but the question asked was "Would you like a Season 2+ BBT?"
That seems to be what we are talking about now. A simple BBT for season 2+ teams.

I think that 60 games would probably be two many.
Though people could just play 1,2 or 3 teams out of their squad, if 60 games was required for full points MattDakka would probably win every time. |

Yes, that was my original idea, but I changed it in the first post. Now the idea is just making a BBT with teams made by Season 2+ teams (no more Season 1 teams).

Yes, I switched to suggesting it, Season 2+ BBT. I initially suggested Season 1, Re-Draft, Season 2 because that way it would have not been possible to use farmed GF teams. From a pure, logical point of view, it's indeed better to use only BBT Season 2+ teams.

Yes, that's an idea. Season 2+ BBT could give a reason to keep on playing the BBT teams which failed to win the BBT.

I agree about not liking to run into min maxed experienced teams (or even max maxed from GF). This is why my initial idea featured a 10-game Season. With 10-game Season teams would grow less, but looks like we have to keep the 15-game Season.

Well, games could be fewer than 60. I suggested 60 games to mirror the BBT's length. It could be 30 games, with a squad made by two Season 2+ teams, or just 15 games. |

I'd rather have a box that matched on CR. |

I'd be fine with a Box division. Matching by CR would make finding games too hard, not enough people to use CR as matching criterion. |

Have no hesitation to apply, Jay'!
(and don't forget that your teams do NOT have to wait 15 games to be in their S2. For example : https://fumbbl.com/t/1288354) |

As long as you would try to match as closely as possible, no matter what the gap, this would not be prohibitive. Not that I am advocating for this, just bringing a perspective. |

Thank you for your reply, Joost.
Appreciated.
IMO, Season 2+ BBT would be a nice opportunity for the failed BBT S1 teams to get a 2nd chance to be played. Or even a 3rd chance, since your teams could be used from a S+ BBT to another S+ BBT, ad lib.... as long as the S1 BBT is not merged with S+ BBT, of course. |
