Ok, if it's too much work for Christer, let's forget the BBT Season 2+, never mind. |

Okay, a modification, clear all the noise out.
1) First run is BBT as is, 15 games.
2) Second run is 3 teams that have just completed their run together (same squad) and have not played more than 15 games. Teams are drawn after the Gauntlet is fixed: one or the other for any given team. You can take your three non-qualifying teams if you're swanky, or your best 3 if not.
3) We table Dakka's idea about 10 game seasons for a separate discussion. We're talking 15 games each here, because that's a full season and moving to a shorter season isn't something you slide in through the back door.
4) We overlap the season 2 runs, so there are always 2 active and each gets twice as long. So instead of 105 games in the time you'd play 60, you get 165 in the time you'd play 120, which feels more reasonable.
5) Every year (2 cycles) there's a big ol' tournament.
Does that solve all the unstated concerns?
Shorter season is a separate convo. (FWIW, I'm in favor.) But not here. That's just muddying the waters, we need to fix season 2+, and we need to do it parsimoniously if possible, so rather than going to major surgery, let's go for an add-on, and revisit if that doesn't work, k? |

K. No dog in this fight, other than that I want it to work. I wouldn't participate, myself, so I don't care about the details. It just seemed to me that the 10 games discussion was holding the whole thing up. |

I would support Jacks idea to Offset BBT S1 and BBT S2+. Reducing the 'either or feeling' is always good when trying to get more people involved.
I would also support Koadahs statement to allow every season 2+ team with 0 Games played in their current season.
Jumpi g between Box and GF will not be an issue once the Squad is created because the Team get locked as Box only.
I really like the idea! Hope this is not much work for Christer or the admins and IT will be possible! |

Although 10-game Season was my original idea, I changed it in the first post because we have to use the 15-game Season.

Yes, although I'm not the boss, I just try to suggest things I think that could work. The thread is supposed to be a brainstorming, I just started it. People's ideas are welcome!
I don't suggest what I 100% want (although I have a goal: increasing the number of Season 2+ teams played, not S2+ Trophy Stars added to my profile, as an aside), I try to suggest what I think can work with the necessary compromises. There are fewer Season 2+ teams played than Season 1 ones, having pure Box as requirement would reduce too much their number, at expense of S2+ Trophy playability. |

I'd probably want the S2+ BBT to follow the same format as the other one, with the requirement of teams starting as newly redrafted. |

Yes, the S2+ BBT sticks to the same format. The only difference is that any S2+ team is allowed, instead of a brand new team. Yes, to join the S2+ a team must be newly redrafted, with 0 games played in its next Season. |

Why wouldn't you participate?
I certainly wouldn't run a full squad.
I'd be interested in running one or two teams though. If time allows.
You can still go for a racial title. Through that, entry to the S2+ gauntlet.
10 games might help. Especially if it is difficult to get games. Also if you are running into the same teams too often.
But yeah, 15 games is far more realistic. |

Yes, if I could change the Season, I'd choose 10 games.
Would trim more the teams and would allow to play more teams per squad.
Balance (if teams grow less, the TV gaps and stat freaks are rarer), variety and practical time reason. Not many people have the commitment to play a long BBT run.
Anyway, since 10-game Season is a no go, let's stick to 15-game Season. |

But, if I'm not wrong you were building your Orc team to join the FC, according to your own words.
If you don't like competition, why building an Orc team to join a Major? It doesn't sound consistent.

Edited the line you quoted while you were posting, Matt.
1) I feel obligated to participate in Majors, at least periodically. One a year, maybe? FC has no qualifier, so is the best Major for me, and also it's the one they want everyone coming out for.
2) I'm okay with the remote chance that somehow my overvalued Orcs will actually win the thing, if I can get another deep run going, because Major participation is the best way to get a handle on the state of the game.
3) I hooked onto a rare team with lucky rolls, and I'd like to show it off somewhere a splash can be made.
I also religiously track my stats and trophies. That's not because I value them. We all have our reasons for doing what we do. If I'm going to play this game, I have to get as good as I possibly can, so I have to track metrics that correlate with skill. It's not glory-seeking, it's just dedication. |

I don't know what "Structured league play" means. Maybe it could enable us to run a Box meta group.
Though now that I think about it, (apologies for being so slow on the uptake, )
We could probably run some kind of very simple meta group now.

Sure, you can. But to me being part of something, part of a “league” or “community” can be part of the draw. As a more narrative/roleplay/fluffy coach, having a table with familiar Or even famous teams to chase would be the incentive. It would be an incentive to get involved with majors as well.
I'm not going to win, so the narrative stuff is an important incentive to getting involved. Though I suppose some of the less popular racial tables might be a bit sparse, so there could be a chance.

Hmm. I suppose some people won't want the big, old or just old teams in there. But without them it's going to be mighty quiet. People can start with the Pro Bowl. |
