Well as Zenemuse hasn't made a thread yet I thought I'd create one for the Kislev Open.

Twenty two teams have made the long hike to the cold plains of Kislev at the north of the Old World. They come from as near as the Chaos Wastes to as far as the Jungles of Lustria.

A number of 'friendly' warm-up matches have been established for the teams (well as friendly as Blood Bowl can ever be).
After the warm-ups the draw will be made for the KO segment of the Kislev Open challenge.
Teams will be divided into two groups and then drawn together using the Racial Similarity Chart (see tournament rules for more information).

Rumour is that the Ice Queen herself Tzarina Katarin is a fan of Blood Bowl and will be there to watch the draw and many of the matches!
As ever Grudge League reporter Emmerich Edelhertz will be there to detail of the highlights of the Kislev Open Challenge.

This is the thread for the Kislev Open Challenge for the Grudge League group.
Use this thread to add any Kislev Open Challenge match reports/team fluff.

Better late than never here's the report from the exciting game between the Clusta Noba Crusaders and their woodelven adversaries Who's a woos.
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&op=view&id=817554

The crusaders started out recieving but simply couldnt find a way through the imprerssive wood elf defense, and finally Who's a woos' wardancer caught a bouncing ball and could dodge away for a late touchdown.

In the second half defense was the keyword once again, the crusaders managed to retrive the ball from the woodelf catcher and score an early comeback TD. When the woodelfs got the chanse again, the crusaders weren't as lucky and they couldnt stop a quick 2 turn td.

Clusta noba crusaders eqalized with another quick 2 turner and were now determined to stop the final drive of the woodelfs. The woodelfs turn barely had time to start before nuffle reared his ugly head, causing a dodge to fail and giving the Crusaders an oportunity to not only hold the wood elfs at bay but also scoring a winning TD of their own. And in the dying seconds of the game Clusta Noba Crusaders blitzer Arn Dunkelbrink scored the winning 3-2 touchdown

The audience although dissapointed by the relative lack of blood instead enjoyed a marvelous display of what critics call elfbowl, pinpoint passes, daring dodges and tremendous touchdowns.

The head coach of the Clusta Noba Crusaders when asked to comment the game, responded: "A truely great piece of bloodbowl, we are looking forward to playing Who's a woos again, and i have a good feeling about this team. Arn Dunkelbrink is a born leader on the pitch and the linelfs doesn't shy away from their opponents."

We have got a few late joiners into Kislev Open!

Magnus with Sissy ladies (Elf), Thomas1031 with Horrific Nightmares (Nurgle's Rotters) and Jimmy's Littlers (Dwarf). They missed the official warm-up round but made it in time for the KO part of the tournament!

When we heard that we have to face Wood Elves in our first game, we had to
do some investigations and what did we find out... They got a tree in their team!
That is why we decided to hire a lumberjack called Nobbla Blackwart
to help us out. we are looking forward to meet our Woody friends...

-Frank, the big and scary rabbit that is only in your mind

And again one team full of snobish elfs get to meet the fluffy bunnies,
and because Nobbla Blackwart failed to do anything last time, he offered his help again (he demanded his salary before the game as usual) we all hope that he can make it this time...

-Bugs Bunny, one who has more vices than any other Rabbit

not quite, Nobbla was spotted again, but he ran his saw
throught a couple of elfs. Those woodies need to lick their
wounds for a while, we really did some damage.
On top of that we won ! now we gotta start concentrating
to our next game against some filthy rats...

-UG, a Goblin noble

Those rats were a tough enemy, just one tiny bit of
luck/skill separated us from them. Cutie sprained her angle
really badly and it will always haut her, but our less haired
friend Ginger has learned to bend a bit more than the others.
We learned a lot from those soul mates of ours, mice/rats like to breed too ; )
Fluffy now moves faster after he opserved how those
Gutters took steps. Now we gotta pack our stuff and head for the next tournament...

-Funny ,"the bidhanded goblin"

After the early promise shown in the Dawn Of Blood challenge (we won't mention the Bunnies), the Moonlight Stalkers hope to go one better in the next tournament. Arriving in Kislev early Kalmort arranged a warm-up match against the GreenSkin Zpackerz, an orc team from the Nuln Division of the DOBC. Both teams put in a solid performance. The Stalkers managed to hold the Orcs off for the first half, the teams werewolves appearing everywhere to stop the orc line advancing. In the second half the Stalkers received and managed to break away from the orc LOS early, stalling out until the end of the match for a 1-0 win.
Soon after the game the draw for the KO segment of the Kislev Open was made and to both teams suprise they were drawn against each other again! With both teams having experience of playing each other the result of the rematch may be very different indeed.

Argh, WHY ME! I was the one that didn't get a game close to my team in the "Racial compatibility chart". Well I thought that Chaos Dwarfs was not Wood / Dark Elfs, but perhaps they managed to bribe the ref after a really close shaving. And that's not all, it's one of the higher TR (+ or so) also. Some times the world just hates you, don't it? Crying or Very sad

Quick update on Clusta Noba Crusaders adventure in the kislev challenge side B.

After the first game, describes earlier here, the Crusaders got their act together and in the end it seemed they learned a thing or two about beating woodelfs. The next two games were comfortable 4-0 victories against two wood elf teams that were by varying degrees abandoned by nuffle. Morale was high awaiting the semifinals until it dawned on us that we'd be facing the chaos dwarf team keepers of the flame and their horrible st 6 bull centaur. But the bull didn't make as much of an impact on the game as we first feared and through a heorid effort we managed to keep the chaos dwarves from scoring in the first half, entering the second half with a 1-0 lead. The keepers of the flame scored an equalizer late in the second half, but not late enough to keep catcher Grobrugda from scoring a 16th turn winning 2-1 touchdown.

In the finals we faced sk8bcn's orcs Gork and Mork servants and in a showdown that had practically evrything we were in the end beaten in overtime with 3-2 Again with the Crusaders defense being surprisingly solid, more so than the offence, mainly consisting of the lone catcher Grobrugda backed up by anonymous but determined linelfs. All in all the future looks bright for the Clusta Noba Crusaders andf all in all they are happy about their performance in their very first grudge league tournament.

See you all on the field!

To be slighty more precise...it was the final of side B of the KO tree, making it the semifinal of the Kislev Open Challenge. There will be a final between the KO tree winners to determine the King of the Hill.

The reason behind splitting the KO tree into 2 different sections was this: one deadline co-ordinator took one side of the KO tree.

The upcoming Loren Forest Fairie Folk Cup and tribal 'Eadsplitta Cup might be split up into as many as 4 parts each, just due to the immense amount of teams who apply. Then there will be Another KO tree for the top 4 teams in each tournament. Smile

The final in the Kislev Open broadly advertised, but not many came to watch.......

The first few turns saw the strong orcs leave the field, some badly hurt and some knocked out. With a lot of bad luck running aorund the first half saw some fumbling the ball in the orcs half, but neither team amanged to get control until the very end of the half, where an orc blitzer managed some nifty dodging only to trip over his one feet in the middle of the chaos dwarves' half. A hobgobbo managed to pick up the ball, but didn't have time for the pass as one of the bull centaur managed to flatten himself against a puny orc thrower. First half 0 - 0.

In second half the Red Diamonds got the ball and started to cage, but then T'yargs - a bull centaur - carrying the ball, managed to flatten himself when pacing himself only a little. This started a midfield row lasting for almost half of 2nd half, but finally T'yargs managed to break away after getting the ball from a hobgobbo and strot in for a TD. The Orcs were left with just enough time for a equalizing TD, but in a bold move H'Torg dodged into the semi-cage and pushed the ball carrying blitzer into the crowd. The crowd threw the ball back in close to the orc thrower, but the dwarves send a blocker to intercept him and the orcs were unable to move him away.

Thanks to SK8BCN for an entertaining match with a lot of laughs on our own poor luck. The only reason the percentages are so high is that we had to reload at half time.
