While both teams are disappointed to not be in the championship game, and both could make a really good case...

Disappointing, but somehow more appropriate. Altho' the winner will rightfully claim #2 and that they were robbed of their proper shot at the championship.

Otoh, if RG brings half the bash they did last game, TCU could be the only winner of this matchup, altho' sleezing in against the #1 team with a record that's clearly #4 may get them broken as well as embarrassed. Wink

I just hope Oregon doesn't get badly diced - that would set up a 4-way controversy!

What controversy?

Arizona is clearly the national champion.

Folks,

Please please PLEASE make every attempt to put your Bowl games into the site scheduler, or announce them in messages/PM's.

I do lotsa fluff, but one thing I love doing is getting to watch the championships. You may even get a game write-up if I can make it...

Thanks, and I wish all of you the best of luck (except Arktoris... nothing personal, sir.)

When is the next season starting? I was a member a long while ago but I just returned to FUMBBL after a hiatus.

Rolla Gold Diggers win the Rose Bowl!

The Rolla Gold Diggers defeat the Texas S n' M Aggroes in the Rose Bowl in what some are speculating as the longest game in Bowl history.

Coach Smeat and his team arrived at the stadium before game time, but instead of practicing or giving a pep-talk in the locker room, they went and got some snacks at the concession stand. Coach Sutherlands and the Rolla Gold Diggers came on field as scheduled, while the referees started paging the stadium for the opponents. Fans started murmuring that Texas had gotten scared after the teams' last meeting resulted in a spanking for the elves. Eventually the team showed up, and the game was off!

Texas won the toss and elected to receive. This didn't work out very well for them when they set up a screen with a weak spot in it, and snaked a GFI on their second to last move, leaving the ball by itself. Rolla blitzed the opening, got next to the ball, and attempted a screen of their own. Texas concentrates on the pass-block player, fouling him to take him out (after the apothecaries help), but their attempt to pass the ball downfield failed. Rolla grabs the ball and scores on Turn 2.

On the second kickoff, Texas secures the ball, and on turn 4 creates a line that Rolla can just barely run around. They GFI twice to get a 1db on the Witch Elf, knocking her out of the game completely and catching the ball. Being next to 3 enemies generally doesn't keep you up, though, and Texas takes the ball back, hurting the player in the process. They then procede to try an emergency run with the ball, but the pass fails and drops the ball on the ground. At this point there's back-and-forth with the ball. Texas has a chance to pass to a guarded player, but fails the pass. Then on the last turn Rolla has a chance for an extra point but fumbles as well. Half ends 1-0 Rolla.

In the second half Rolla sets up a screen to go wide, but Texas cuts that off, so they redouble to the other side, making a break with one player. The elves dodge out of the tacklezones they're in to knock the player down before he can make it, and gather the ball after a throw-in. Rolla knocks the ball loose, but Texas grabs it again. This time they forget about the pass-block player and try to throw it clear, but don't make it. It doesn't matter, though, because Rolla starts it's turn attempting a RR to clear the ball and run for the TD, but they RR into double skulls, ending the turn early. Texas gets the ball free and scores in two turns to avoid the strip-ball player coming after them.

On the kickoff, Texas gets a Blitz! which combined with a deep kick spells bad news for Rolla. Almost all their players are tied up, but they manage to throw the ball forward, then handoff to someone on the line, and try once again to make a run for it. The Snow Troll roars which keeps him from tying up deeper players, and the runner is easy to hit. Texas knocks him down, but fails to get more than 1 TZ on the ball. With no RRs left, Rolla brings one player down with a GFI to provide an assist, and the runner knocks the player off the ball, grabs it, and runs it in for a TD.

With 2 turns to tie, a High Kick to the very back corner allows the elves to catch the ball easily, and they set up a screen on the bottom of the field. The ball carrier is just in range of 2 linemen, but the first one fails on the GFI, leaving it to look like a tie in regulation time. Texas dodges to take out the pass-blocker, then passes to a lineman and hands off to the blitzer in range, but he fumbles the ball, leaving the final score 2-1 Rolla.

Both coaches agreed it was a much closer game than their previous encounter, leaving the fans some hope that the elves wouldn't run away from their next meeting.

Yeah, with the RR (and more left for OT), only needred 3 out of 4 rolls to be "not 1's" to be sitting pretty, but only a T16 snaked handoff was able to stop the walk-in tying score - ouch.

Texas coaching was not present at the very start of the game (still at the snack stand, apparently), making a little bad luck a LOT worse, and that early defensive score was the decider.

And we didn't agree the game was closer - that was obvious - we agreed it was BETTER. Something about not clearing the pitch in the first 5 turns will do that. Grats S - next time!

With the major part of the bowl games being played, Season XX is about to coming to an end. And since this season the All American Team Selection Show has been brought to the big stage again, there was no doubt that another NCBB institution will see its comeback, too.

You’re watching the Warpstone Dew NCBB Award Show.

In this show, we will not only announce this year’s nominees for Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year but we will also provide in-depth analysis of how these players performed and what is their legitimation to be on this list.

We’ll start the show with the Freshman of the Year segment right after this announcement by our product partners:

LEEGLE: Hey. “Summerfest” Leegle here, newest member of the Cincinatti Bludgeoners and former star quarterback of the NCBB. I was back to back National Champion with the Wisconsin Honeygrues and you know what? Prior to any important game, I do the Dew. The Warpstone Dew!

Warpstone 'til you're prone!

VOICE FROM THE OFF: And don’t miss our latest flavor, right from the sewers in Glowdale, Arizona: Warpstone Glow. Rock the show with Warpstone Glow!

Okay, back with the nominees for Freshman of the Year. These players are all in their first year on college, nevertheless they have already had some serious impact on their teams.

The first nominee is Viktor "Yurlov Crower" Popov from Oregon Waterfoul. The catcher was one of the pillars for Oregon’s undefeated walk into the Bowl Games. Throughout the season he scored eight touchdowns, a top rate not only among Rookies. Additionally, he completed two passes and caused two more casualties. An MVP nomination completes the picture of an outstanding catcher, who earned 35 SPP in a single season.

The second nominee comes from the Univercity of Hawaii, Ne'Quan Phillips, and he proves to be a true all-rounder. Five casualties, three touchdowns and two completions not only resulted in two MVP nominations, but also 31 SPP all over the season. He already is a cornerstone for Hawaii both in offense and defense.

The Alabama Green Tide is the proud home of our third nominee, Bradley Sylve, who made his way on a position where he had to compete with such great names as Xzavier Dickson and Paden Crowder. Nevertheless four touchdowns and three casualties, escorted by two MVP nominations, stack up to 28 SPP in his freshman year. A bashy blitzer, who also knows how and when to score.

These are three very different types of players and they all have shown that they are very good in what they do. Now it’s up to you. Who do you think had the most impact on his team and beyond?
One coach, one voice - make some noice!

Next up on the Warpstone Dew NCBB Award Show: The Player of the Year nominations.

But before you go there, and so you have the time to call for your Freshman of the Year, we’ll have another quick commercial for your infotainment.

A hot brunet with a cool blonde in a bar. A buff-looking Skaven with an extra arm is looking at her.
RATCOOL: Baby, you make me wish you had three breasts.
MARY: But I can.
She turns to the bartender pointing at the beer in her hand.
MARY: Two more Warpsteiner, Benny.
Next shot shows Mary and Ratcool sitting at a table, several emptied bottles of Warpsteiner in front of them. Then Mary opens her blouse and exposes three breasts.

VOICE FROM THE OFF: Warpsteiner Brewery’s TOTAL RATCOOL. Showing off this summer, in a cinema near you!

And the vote for Freshman of the Year is done. And what an exciting one it was. It went head to head between Popov and Phillips.
But there can only be one winner, and it is Popov. Congratulations to him and his Alma Mater Oregon Waterfoul.
No award without a trophy, so...

But hey, this was just the appetizer. Next up on our show: The Player of the Year nominations.
The following players were all found guilty of outstanding performances throughout their college careers.

The first nominee is Xzavier Dickson out of Alabama. In his four years at college, he has developed some really impressive skills. But skills are nothing without talent, and believe me, this guy is the definition of talent. He can clear the way with brute force, or he can slip through the narrowest breach in the lines just to sack the opposing ball carrier… with brute force, of course. Among this All-American’s top figures (pre-bowl) are Starplayer Points (121, 1st) and Casualties (30, 2nd).

The second nominee comes from National Champion TCU. Here we have another All-American, but where the aforementioned nominee stands out due to brute force, LaDarius Brown has chosen to tread a different path. He’s the Touchdown machine (20) of NCBB, no other player in the league has scored more often. And he’s only in his third year! It is absolutely possible, that LaDarius will establish an All-Time Record for career touchdowns in college.

The next nominee is Sgt Saugtherdog from suddenly vanished Fresno State Red-Wave. The Senior is another example of a blood bowl psychopath. He’s not only tailored to brute force, he IS brute force, with only one mission: bring the pain to any opposing player he can get his claws on. The coaching staff doesn’t waste any training time in teaching him the difference of important and not important players, of tactical situations and positioning demands. Simply: See it. Get it. Kill it! The Sergeant is NCBB top-notch in Blocks (290, 1st) and Casualties (32, 1st).

The fourth nominee is another lately selected All-American: Ian Mason out of Missouri. He’s the kind of quarterback hotshot, every NBFL coach would give his left arm for. He can throw the ball over almost any distance, but he can also go for the needed yards himself. And he keeps a cool head even on an incoming tackle, delivering the package in the moment of going down. His unbeaten figures include Completions (58) and Passing Yards (163).

Last but not least there is Anthony Mooredeath from Rolla Gold Diggers. He’s another great performing Junior, leading in Rushing Yards (413) and second in Touchdowns (18). And as he has another year in college, there’s even more to come from this exceptional Norse Runner.

Here you have them, this year’s nominees for Player of the Year.

Now it’s up to you. Who deserves it the most? Who do you think shouldn’t be allowed to win this award?

All votes are in and counted, and we have a final result:

Player of the Year* is... no, wait, we have two winners.
Both Alabama's Xzavier Dickson and Rolla's Anthony Mooredeath got 5 votes and therefore share the title.

Congratulations to the players, teams and last but not least coaches OTS and Sutherlands for generating such jewels out of nothing else but blood, sweat and tears.
