As much as Garion is awesome... I would say he's much more in line for FUMBBL'er of the Decade. 2014 has been the year of the Green Tide, and it is all due to the fabulous stories The_Great_Gobbo has given us. It's one thing to give of yourself when asked... and another to give of your time, effort, and imagination for the enjoyment of others with zero expectation of anything in return. I totally disagree, it's down to the different things Garion has done this year, and what we are gaining from. The testing, pitch designing, helpfulness in the forums, Secret League, Portraits and more.
Don't get me wrong, The Great Gobbo is a lot of fun. However every single member on this site has gained from Garion's work he has done during the year. |

Garion all the way.
Appreciate the Gobbo's humour and blogs, but writing some fluff versus grinding out out hundreds of hours this year to make the client, leagues, and the site a whole lot better is so much more. Really surprised the voting is so close to be honest. I don't think a lot of people understand how much work the testing/admin/support crews do around here. |

I've wanted this for some time, it has never happened however as it needs commitment. With some sort of award. The big problem behind this is it needs dedication in implementing it. Which means who ever ran it would be up for the vote every month also!
So as an example, how many people would be up for this idea. FUMBBLer of the month award. You may only win one award per year. Each winner gets to add any player of their choosing to any league team. Leauge commissioners have the right to deny any amended teams from their league.
It'd be cool, wouldn't it? |

It's a nice idea, but as you say, is a long term commitment. I think once a year is fine, and keeps it from being devalued. But I liked the suggestion made earlier of having several categories. So there could be a FUMBBL Fluffer of the year, Behind-the-scenes contribution of the year, FUMBBL's Friendliest coach of the year, Blogger of the year, Commissioner of the year, etc, along with an overall award... |

The problem with that is that I think it'll be repeated again and again. The main idea behind a monthly winner is to push coaches on to doing greater and great things. The more you do, the better the site will become.
