When are we getting these in the College League?? ;o) Maybe just one a week or something? Would be cool to pick up a player in the draft that already has a number of player of the week awards.

The first team to put their name on the DLE Trophy will be found tonight! At 22.30 servertime we have the kick off to the greatest one game event on FUMBBL! Do yourself a favor and have a look.

Will the underdogs Brionne Buccaneers do the imposible and steal the trophy away from the favorits Flaschfurt Universe?

Bucs lost a keyplayer in the semifinal, by loosing their Ogre with ST6 and Block to a random block after the APO was used. So Bucs start a rookie Ogre in this important match! Furthermore blitzer Bryan Bulaga is out with injury from this one match. He will be missed with his tackle and mighty blow. Can the Bucs do it without 2 good starters?
Bucs have 3 ProBowlers still on the team, so they need to pull their weight in this clash of Titans!

Flaschfurt on the other hand have a full squad at their disposal, and one to watch is the franschise player John Lynch, who is also one the teams 3 ProBowlers.

Gonna be big. Come spectate, and maybe you fancy a go at the DLE!

Continuing his series of looks at the players in this year’s eligible draft pool, Talon Lewis is back this week with his opinion on the Blitzers:
The Blitzer is the ultimate swiss army knife of the human team. So flexible, capable and potentially dangerous. Coaches in the DLE are lucky to be adding to their rosters from the collection of college players coming through the ranks this season, and I’ll try to pick out the best of the bunch along with a few out of left field.
As I said, Blitzers are so flexible in how they can contribute on the field and the most popular Blitzers on any team is the guy who takes out the opposition. Brandon Taylor and Donta’a Hightower are two artisans of injury, both as ready as each other to paint the turf with your star player’s brain matter. To a lesser degree, Malik Jackson also packs a punch if you can’t grab one of the other two early in the draft. Any of these guys will ensure you are playing against out manned opponents.
Coby Fleener is, by many reports, one of the cleanest prospects in this draft. His dedication to his ball handling skills plus his unnatural ability to move through groups of players mean he’s a can’t miss guy. Pass up on him at your peril, GMs, because he will be waltzing in to your endzone very shortly plying his trade for your opposition. Lamar Miller offers a different type of mobility from Fleener, more straight line speed and is definitely an alternative for a fast break rushing game.
As defenders go, not all are the heavy hitting types, preferring sure tackling ability rather than career ending power. These players are vital to any bend but don’t break defense and come in many guises. Andre Branch is the epitome of a deep lying hybrid Blitzer, more safety valve of any defense than someone out to brawl in a scrum. His ability to drag down any one breaking free and secure the ball is priceless.
Telvin Smith’s aggressive style of defending will likely get him hurt a lot in his career but it will surely give his team a lot of flexibility in terms of pressing any potential threats. Smith is the sort to be a nuisance to the mobility of opposition players, sticking to them like glue and potentially dragging them down when they try to break free.
Sleepers:
Markelle Martin is an interesting prospect, undoubtedly a crazy player, willing to throw himself over players in order to get to where he wants. Potentially, with a little more development, he could be an absolute star. Worth a look.
Lavonte David might not wow anyone with measurable or stat sheet numbers but what he lacks in star power he makes up in his impact on the team. What I would refer to as a traditional “fullback”, David will be found all over the pitch supporting his team mates. His one stand out attribute? Just try and move him, you wont.
Busts:
There aren’t really any bad players in this group, but one or two look like the sort of prospects that might not contribute as much as their potential might suggest. Brandon Marshall should be in the same conversation as Hightower and Jackson et al but his disciplinary record has seen to his draft stock tumbling. Josh Kaddu has the same sort of ability but also has no control or self discipline. These types of guys are boom or bust depending on how their eventual coaches choose to manage them!

For College will be doing an end of the season awards. Might expand one day but don't want to promise anything before we have the backroom staff to be able to keep up with it all the time.

Here’s round 3
Ogres

The Ogre is an oft misunderstood part of the Blood Bowl team. He looks big and dangerous, and when used right, he definitely is, but folk often entertain the idea that the is a killer. Not always true, Talon Lewis is here to break down the position in the upcoming draft:

So, welcome back to my preview of the draft. Ogres are an odd one. You are only allowed one on a team at any one time, they are limited in how they can be expected to develop but the right one can be devastatingly effective. They can instead, be devastatingly unreliable and it would be utter fallacy to say otherwise. My philosophy is that you are better off with an Ogre than without but you have to know how to manage them and call upon them to perform. This will definitely show up in the players I want to highlight today.

Kendall Reyes is the first fine big fella specimen that I’d like to talk about. Without a doubt, THE most versatile of the big men coming out in this draft. Not only does he look more effective in his ability to be a road block but he’s a seasoned guy with a lot of experience under his belt. He is just a tier above a lot of the other ogres in this class and I feel like he might be the only big guy taken in the first round this season. I especially like his efficiency, you won’t see many missed blocks, he likes to leave his mark.

Michael Brockers is one of the most ambitious Ogre in this class. His skillset calls for defensive co-ordinators to use him aggressively and creatively. His ability to use his brute strength to tear away from markers and separate ball from carrier are second to none but the concern is using a player such as him to play that role is fraught with potential pitfalls. If Brockers can remember which team he is playing for, he will be a star. Until that point, he’s a risky option as a blitzer.

Justin Anderson is a curious case. As an Ogre’s base job is as a roadblock and potential nuisance, he excels, being able to wall off defenders when attacked and then his counter block man handles his victims to wherever he wants them to go. It’s an interesting talent, his kickslide blocking ability might leave people a bit unimpressed as to what else he can do. Can you say one trick pony?

Justin Ellis and Rokevious Watson offer a coach similar things, road blocks that aren’t going to be moved come hell or high water! Their ability to hold the line is key to any defence and the way they can double team on any teammate’s block shows their extreme work ethic and blocking nous. Watson offers increased mobility as well, as shown in his measurable recorded recently at the annual DLE Scouting Combine so you will most likely see him chosen ahead of Ellis.

Lamar Homes is the outright biggest monster of this draft. It can’t be fathomed how difficult it is coming up against him and his giant like strength. He’s got the chops to disrupt any offence but might become bogged down if not used correctly. His game is limited beyond brute strength but this is a game of Blood Bowl and strength can be pretty pivotal!

Jerel Worthy is another interesting talent, whereas many Ogres stand their ground, bully one opponent at a time, Jerel has the ability to drag opponents around like rag dolls, sometimes even two at a time. His control of the pitch could be extremely useful and should see him easily selected in this draft.

Let’s discuss Matt Kalil. Matt is the type of player any coach would want if they already have them in the building, but most might shy away from selecting him with as high a draft pick as his pre draft status might infer. Kalil has great balance, take down ability and toughness but if all you are going to ask him to do is line up and plug a gap, then this isn’t the guy for you at the price he has been touted. Kalil might be the draft day faller but lets hope for this kid that he finds a club that he can continue to be great at.

As potential busts go, Brandon Brooks is the one who stands out the most for me. This guy can’t make up his mind if he wants to smash his opponents like a good Ogre or start acting out and try and pluck that ball up and launch it down the field. In the increasingly conservative environment of the DLE and moreso the coaches and co-ordinators, this just doesn’t stack up. This kid go end up without a team as I’m not sure too many coaches want the trouble he brings.

Code:

Name                    Position MA ST AG AV Skills
Kendall Reyes          Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Block, Pro
Lamar Homes          Ogre  5   6  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow
Michael Brockers    Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Block, Break Tackle, Strip Ball
Rokevious Watkins Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Guard, Stand Firm, Break Tackle
Matt Kalil                  Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Block, Sure Feet, Tackle
Justin Ellis                 Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Stand Firm, Guard
Jerel Worthy            Ogre  5   5  2 10 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Multiple Block, Grab, Side Step
Justin Anderson      Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Grab, Side Step
Brandon Brooks      Ogre  5   5  2  9 Bone Head, Loner, Mighty Blow, Guard, Break Tackle, Strong Arm

These are the final Weekly awards for Season 1 of the DLE. It has been a great season. 75 total games without a single forfeit and only 1 extension. Congrats to the 4 teams that made our inaugural playoffs and Special Congratulations to Wreckage and his Flashfurt Universe for winning DLE Super Bowl 1. But without further ado here are the 9th and final winners of the Season 1 Weekly Awards.

ImageDLE Air Player of Week 9: Johnny Manziel, 4th Round Thrower, Kemperbad- Manziel had a pretty good game vs Brionne. Handing the Bucs their first loss of the season, He threw 2 Completions for 3 yards and a passing TD. He also performed in classic Johnny Football fashion also amassing 30 more yards on the ground and scoring a rushing TD as well.

ImageDLE Ground Player of Week 9: Logan Thomas, 3rd Round Thrower, Grenzburg After feeling that he was shafted last week, Thomas will be happy to see his name here. The Ultra Strong Thrower had his way with the Rangers. Basically taunting them at the goal line before scoring on the last turn of each half. He finished the game vs Dead Wood with 34 yards rushing and 2 TDs in the Greenskins 2-1 victory that ensured his team a winning record for the season.

ImageDLE Slayer of Week 9: Anthony Barr: 1st Round Blitzer, Talabheim- This week the Slayer goes once again to the Blitzer from Talabheim. In the finale vs San Luis, Barr caused a whopping 5 casualties. He started the game by throwing the first block and Killing 49er Thrower Steve Young. Other than a KO he was pretty quiet for the rest of the first half, but as soon as the second half started he began to wreak more havoc. Turn 1, badly hurt a rookie. Turn 2, Piles on 2nd Round Catcher Brandin Cooks and smashes his ankle(-MA). Turn 3, another Badly hurt Rookie. And then on Turn 5 of the second half he finishes up where he started off by killing a Young… this time Rookie lineman Bryant Young.

ImageTHE DLE PLAY of Week 9: Eric Kendricks: Franchise Blitzer, Erengrad- There were lots of great plays in Week 9 of the DLE but when I saw this one, for some reason I was truly impressed. Kendricks, who has been pretty quiet this season, especially for a Franchise Player decided to step up his game a bit. Showing off his Elf-like AG3 dodge skills, he dodged out of a Grizzly sandwich and on a GFI knocked the ball free and caught it off the bounce.

ImageDLE Epic Moment of Week 9: John Lynch: Franchise Blitzer, Flashfurt- Here it is. The final epic moment. Lynch’s play in Week 9 was pretty Epic all around. To start off with the Franchise Blitzer over doubled his CAS total for the season. With badly hurting a Rookie Lino, Breaking another Rookie’s Collar bone, Smashing the Ankle of 3rd Round Blitzer Carlos Hyde, and Slaughtering Dirty Player Adimchinobe Echemando you might say that’s a pretty complete day at the office. However, Lynch, understanding the importance of the situation on turn 15(Flashfurt needed a win to get into the playoffs), decided that he must do what any Franchise player would do and take the game into his own hands. Standing beside of All-Pro Catcher Mike Evans as he got blitzed, Lynch catches the ball on the second bounce. Then on turn 16, Evans helps out a little by 1d Blitzing a Classics Lineman out of the way. Lynch then dodges away from 2 Middenheim defenders (It appears that he momentarily thinks about handing the ball to Teammate Stanley Jean-Baptiste) and then runs toward the endzone pushing it to his limits with 2 GFIs…into the endzone for the Victory, the Playoff berth, and the Conference regular season Championship!

ImageDLE Sucker(s) of Week 9: Cortez Allen and Leupold Friedmann: UDFA and Franchise Blitzers, Nuln- So… This week we are awarding the DOUBLE SUCKER award. Not sure what these 2 guys were thinking as they set up to defend the ball carrier along the sidelines. This play could have easily been the Play of the Week for Hightower, however I believe that it was more of a Boneheaded play on the part of the Gunner Blitzers than a Great play by the Patriot Blitzer. But on Turn 11, Allen and Friedmann set up along the sidelines to protect the Nuln Ball Carrier, after a block by one of his Patriot Team mates, Hightower blitzed Friedmann, pushing him into Allen, who went into the crowd. And then he followed through on the block once more pushing Friedmann into the crowd as well. Rumors have it that the 2 Gunner Blitzers were seen holding hands with one another as they went over the wall. Luckily for these two chaps, the game was at Nuln and the crowd was friendly. But for allowing this All-World Killer to get a shot at both of you, I award you with this badge… CONGRATS SUCKERS!!!

For those of you who can't make it into that stadium, there is another bash of brilliance in the match: Wolfbach Scimitars vs. Averheim River Bandits, kickoff estimated for 22.00, right after the fat granny has sung the national anthem. Bring your own rocks!

No, it has not cost us the equivalent of a 1st rounder!

Buccaneers management categorically denied rumours they invested a ton of resources on their finally almost completed homepage mainly to distract from the so far mediocre performance in DLE Season 2.
