Riverbottom Nightmare Band 2 vs 1 We Do It For Love

And thus it ends this season of chart hits and occasional misses! The Lovers did what they could early...showing some dash to recover after ball was dropped and then recovered by the band. But a silly handoff gone wrong was all the opening they needed and BAM it is 1-0. But at this point the Band switched from their high energy pop tunes and went straight to Heavy Metal dirges. A slow crushing box saw quite a few elves hit the ground holding their (pointy) ears. 1-1 Halftime.
Re-start was always going to be a tough ask for this festival crowd. Only 6 elves made it back...and the Band just wasn't letting them sing along. Another crunch-a thon as the amps screetched and the bass lines droned. Not really the sound of fun the kidz like to showcase...but what's done is done.
A solid 3rd place finish on the year...and now it looks like an extended break til the playoffs finally begin for us. Here's hoping they stay in tune.

See ya in the Playoffs!!!

mmm...17 days without a post? We are on page 2 for petes sake! I see the deadline for last round has passed. Given the playoff implications for certain teams this seem a tad disapointing. Ah well...life in the big city. But it would be nice to move into the final dance friends...good luck and PLAY ON!

Azmo was on vacation so I extended the deadline for him. I just played my last game so as soon as Azmo plays we are onto the playoffs.

Sinister Urge 2 - 1 Bullz On Parade

The final season ended with 2 teams guaranteed playoff spots looking to stay healthy for round 1. After a risk free 1st half, both teams began trading blows in a tough second half that went back and forth as a loose ball in the rain was hard to grab. Tied at 1-1 we actually went to OT for the decision.

With a BC and dwarf in the BH box, the Urge were able to outrun the remaining dwarves for the win. Of course, receiving to start OT always helps.

MLB Playoffs Round #1

1 Black Demons - Barash - Bye
2 Bullz on Parade - SarumanThe White - Bye
3 Riverbottom Nightmare Band - Ozjesting - Bye
4 Sinister Urge - Mully - Bye
5 Cartoonettes - SideshowBob - Bye
6 Kadrin Kannons - Beholden - Bye

#7 Rocky Horror Bloodbowl Team - LurkingGrue vs
#10 Slaves of Chaos - Caileanhawk
Thanks to a week #12 win over the Kadrin Kannons and some potential playoff teams going MIA, the Slaves of Chaos sneak into the playoffs as the #10 seed. Riding a 3 game winning streak they are indeed scary. The RH BB Team will have to erase the memory of their 2-1 loss to the slaves in their last meeting. Prediction : Chaos by .6

#8 Blackrock Wardogs - Azmo vs
#9 Tepoc's Chosen - Miyuso
An evenly matched game between Orcs and Lizards. Neither team was particularly strong down the stretch so this one could go either way. The Chosen have the STR and quickness advantage and will be tough to handle. Prediction : Chosen by .2

Praise be to the Chaos Gods, we made the playoffs.

The Slaves of Chaos will look to put some more heads from the RHBT into their collection. The last time the Slaves met the RHBT Bull went wild and killed Eddie, can the rest of the RHBT be far behind?

Playoff opponents, Prepare to meet the fury that is Chaos...Prepare to be sacrificed.

What you gonna do when the Bull comes for you?

MLB Playoffs

#1 Black Demons (12-0-0) - Barash vs
#8 Blackrock Wardogs (8-1-4) - Azmo
A gritty win in the wildcard game earned Azmo a shot at the #1 seed. The Demons swept the Wardogs in the regular season and the stronger, more skilled Orcs should have their way again. Prediction : Demons by .6

#4 Sinister Urge (9-0-3) - Mully vs
#5 Cartoonetts (8-1-3) - SideshowBob
Women and Wolves do battle for the 1st time. Very little "tackle" for the Urge could do them in. The Cartoonettes have dominated most of the their opponents with stifling defense. Prediction : Cartoonettes by .2

#2 Bullz on Parade (10-0-2) - SarumanThe White vs
#7 Rocky Horror BB Team (8-2-3) - Lurking Grue
Things don't get any easier for Rocky Horror as they go to from the steroid abusing Chaos team to the agile CDs. A very tough matchup. The Bullz are coming off a loss to another Necro team and may have that thought in the back of their insane minds. Prediction : Bullz by .1

#3 RB Nightmare Band (8-2-2) - Ozjesting vs
#6 Kadrin Kannons (8-4) - Beholden
The Kannons have done a good job beating up on weaker foes but have struggled vs tough teams. The "Band" has been impressive down under and has one of the best defenses in the league. Expect this to be a very low scoring affair. Prediction : Band by .1

The Song Remains The Same!

3 Times the Band has travelled "overseas", 3 times the game has gone to OT and 3 times we have not won!

After 6 weeks off it was always going to be a rough gig. But they just never got in tune. A quick TD to start was just some scales. When they tried to move it into their regular set-list it all fell apart. The dwarven mosh pit kept knocking over every security guard we had, and we couldn't manage to evict one player almost all game. (and then it was but a KO in OT) An easy stroll up the sideline for the Kannons to start the 2nd half levelled the scores. With plenty of time to score the winner we felt in control. But a simple hand-off that most likely would have led to a unresisted TD was fumbled!
OT
Dwarves recieve...and promptly knock everyone down. Everyone! Then it was an easy pass and catch and that was it.
An excellent domestic tour falls flat on international ears.
Ah well....that's Rock n Roll

Good luck and good fun to all who continue on...will wait and see what the agency says about where we play next Wink

SEMIFINAL
CARTOONETTES - BLACKROCK WARDOGS 1-0 (OT)

Cartoonettes makes it to the final!

After a long and tough season, the zons has finally made it to the MLB final.

The semifinal vs Azmos ocrs was a extremly hard and well-played game, where both sides really deserved the win.

The Orcs started with the ball and had a pretty good start, knocking out a couple of zons and charged the sideline. But in the sixth turn the zons managed to badly hurt two black orcs in two blocks, and that made it of course much more difficult for the attacking orcs. In the final turn, the zons could knock over the ball carrier, and thanks to some lucky scatter, they could defend the end zone the rest of the half.

In the second half, the zons made a big mistake in the first turn and after a missed pass, the ball was in orc hands again. But because of aggressive amazon defence, they had no chance of advancement. Both team fought for the ball for the rest of the game, but no one got a really good chance to score.

In overtime the zons started with the ball, and could (after some great blocking) reduce the defending orc defence just enough to get through to the endzone, and score the winning td in turn 7 after two missed td attempts.

It was really a great game, where the Zons had the little extra luck, especially in some important scatter rolls

But thanks for the game Azmo, it could have ended either way!

MLB Championship Set

Tale of The Tape

Bullz On Parade
- Chaos Dwarf (212/204) – Record 12-0-2 -
coached by SarumanTheWhite
Key Players – Stampy (AG 3 BC 50 SPPs) ; Buga (AG 4 Hobgoblin 44 SPPs)

Cartoonettes – Amazon (179/190) – Record 10-1-3 – coached by SideshowBob
Key Players – Mimmi (STR 5 Catcher 22 SPPs) ; Nina Kanin (Stand Firm Blitzer 24 SPPs)

Both teams had hard fought overtime wins in the semi-finals to get here. The Cartoonettes had their valuable DP niggled in their match and decided to dump here for a fresh body. Both teams will most likely bring some fireballs with them as well to combat likely cage tactics. Although the Bullz use of their fireball in the semi’s was so poor, it hardly made a difference.

Prediction : Although this looks grim for the Zons, they were able to knock off a CD team 2-0 in the preseason. However, they will be facing a tougher coach in this matchup. Even if the AV7 holds up, the Bullz still have the agility advantage. I just can’t see the Zons being able to stay away long enough to win it. Prediction : Bullz 2-1

Cartoonettes stands ready to snatch the title!

Mimmi, the ugly but superstrong star catcher comments the final:

"We know we are underdogs in this one, but that is nothing new for us. We have always had a strong defence, and I will handle both of those weak bulls personally! Our newly hired wizard is practicing his fireball all day long, and as you can see on my burned eyebrows, he is doing a really good job! So I demand all the Amazon and Swedish fans to come and watch the game as the two team clash together at 6pm BB time on Sunday. I bet my left ring finger that we will be victorious!"

MBL FINAL:
Cartoonettes - Bullz On Parade 0-1

A bad match up, -33 in tr and two crappy handicaps. The CD was a big favourite in this final, and they finally won after a real thriller. But it wasn't a easy win or walkover, and if the zons hadn't failed the important rolls in a couple of TD attempts, the underdogs had clinched the title.

First half, CD starting. The zons managed to knock out both bulls, the first in a blitz already in turn one and the second after a neat fireball from the wiz. CD was pretty close to score in turn 6, but some heroic dodging was just enough that the zons needed to knock down the lone ball carrying hobgoblin.

In the last turn the zons got their first td attempt. We needed a pushback, pickup and handoff with RR, but when the RR was wasted on double skulls, the attempt was in vain and the handoff finally failed.

In second half the zons could make it deep into enemy territory. The CD wiz helped the bull Stampy to knock down the ball carrier, but the ball scattered pretty well and the zons still had a decent chance of scoring. 4+ pickup and 3+ dodge (with RR) for td. But since it is impossible to roll 4+ when needed, this chance was also wasted.

A hobbogobbo got the ball, and survived a rerolled blitz, but failed to dodge away from the intense ladies (see above about the 4+) which gave the zons a last chance of scoring a probably game winning td. We needed to block down a stand firm CD with 3 attempts, pick up the ball and hand it off. But the 3 blocks failed, so now we needed to blitz the evil dorf. Of course, the dreaded double skulls showed this time and this attempt was also wasted. The ball pickup failed of course and the bull Stampy could pick it up in the last turn and rush away to freedom and a game winner in the last turn.

Thanks for the game Saurumanthewhite and congrats to the title! I know I was pretty lucky with the dices most of the game, too bad they didn’t were on my side in the most important situations…

Cartonettes now get a well deserved summer vacation after a very good season after all. Next season they will move on to the well respected Wide World Of Blood Bowl (WWB) and who knows, maybe Mimmi and her friends will be a successful team there too?[/url]

MLB Champions

Congratulations to SarumanTheWhite and his CD team Bullz on Parade for winning the MLB League championship.

The Bullz entered the playoffs as the #2 seed with a 10-0-2 record. The were led in the regular season by star BC Stampy who scored 11 TDs and had 42 SPPs. He was followed by super agile Hobgoblin Buga with 7 TDs and 29 SPPs.

In the playoffs, they easily handled the Rocky Horror Bloodbowl team then had to get a little luck to beat the mighty dwarves Kadrin Kannons. As the heavy favorite going into the title game vs SideshowBob’s Zons, they struggled before coming away with a narrow T8 TD victory.

Congratulations from the MLB staff.
