Mass Block teams such as Dwarfs, Chaos Dwarfs and Norse will be common in BB2020, another good reason to take Wrestle.

That is only true if you don't mind having your wrestler on the ground waiting to get fouled.

This is especially the case if Guard adds assist as it seemed to in the leaked version of the rules. I think you will see DP and SG on as many teams as possible.

If a Wrestle lino gets fouled no biggie, not a positional.

Does it not also go both way... you get them down with Wrestle and can then run up and foul their player as well.

Protecting against fouling is something you can actively try to do, at least make sure any foul is not that effective.

Protecting your players from being fouled is part of the game as much as any other thing you need to protect from happening, like effective Blitzes on valuable players or keeping the ball carrier safe.

Wrestle is to take down Block ball carriers, level the playing field vs better combatants (Ogres hate being made prone with it), and make jumping opportunities.

If your wrestle player doesn't have Guard and makes prone someone who does, it can be especially helpful.

But the new Brawler skill is a soft counter to it.

It means Wrestle is now a powerful skill for easily creating jumpable gaps.

Interestingly enough having more Wrestle will make Juggernaut more common pick, because Juggernaut counters Wrestle and makes a good combination with Tackle.

The problem with wrestle will always be the same. If you use wrestle in your turn, you just put your own guy on the ground. Sure, another elf can jump over him the guy you bring down but on your opponent's turn your guy is prone without tackle zones and your opponent is free to stand up and run after the ball carrier.

If the question is Block vs Wrestle, 90% of the time I want block on any player.

Wrestle is valuable for bringing down opponents with Block on both offense and defense.

When trying to get to the ball-carrier it can open a spot you otherwise wouldn't be able to get open (two Blocks cancel each other out). It's even better against Big Guys blessed with Block, since it means they have to roll (and, in some cases, even blitz) just to be able to stand up. Nevermind bringing down ball-carriers with Block.

When defending against Block it puts your player into a prone position and he can be fouled, but fouling depends on many factors. The advantage appears when your opponent can't exploit the fact that your player is prone at the moment, meaning your player is free to move elsewhere. He will move slower (because he was prone), but it's safer than dodging away. And you can put someone next to a downed opponent yourself (either to foul or to hit him if he stands up).
