Hi all!

If I successfully throw a bomb at an opposing player does it just requite a normal AG test to see if he catches it? Is it modified in any way except for TZs?

Or does catching it require the standard deflection/interception procedure?

Bombs can be caught, intercepted, deflected, yea

The main difference is they'll explode if they touch the ground. they don't bounce

I know that, but what is required to catch it? Is it just like catching a friendly, successful throw or is catching it always considered an interception and thus require a successful deflection roll first?

I think catching an opponent bomb would be the same as catching an opponent pass,
It'd be the catch process on p51. which is:

-1 for being marked, and -1 for converting a deflection into an interception

But is it considered an interception then? Or does the -1 not apply?

I think it depends on if you targeted the square the player was standing in.

If you threw it at the player & the throw was accurate then it's just a catch roll.

If you threw it elsewhere, then it followed the deflection/interception rules.

Edit: this is gut feeling though, and I've not bothered to look up the answer

I learnt the hard way that certain players (e.g. the Mummies and the Zombies on an Undead team) have a PA of -. This means they can catch a Bomb (which they seem to be quite good at, lol), but then simply blow themselves up!

If the ball/bomb would land in the square of an opposing player from the thrower, after checking accuracy and any deviation, then there shouldn't be a -1 for converting a deflection as no deflection was made to be converted. Only the modifiers from pass accuracy, disturbing presence (ball only) and weather should be considered. That is how I always interpreted it, as the -1 is specifically for converting the deflection and not the interception itself.
