Hi all,
With Old world alliance going NEW World Alliance in the Season 3 rules, i wanted to open the old debate on what big guy to take. I always used the Ogre for its mobility (getting Guard in placesit needed to be...hopefully)
but now that the Tree doesn't have loner anymore it looks like a very nice option also....
So my question:
What Big guy and why? |

From my experience it depends on the match up. But Ogre probably is the best.
Against Bashy Teams the Tree can be invaluable at holding up a couple of players. He is also cheaper so keeps your TV slightly lower.
Against agility teams or hybrid teams the ogre is the better choice as the extra strength is less important compared to the much improved move and better negative trait.
If a tree takes root turn 1 you are wasting a RR if an ogre bone heads turn 1 you just take it and get on with your life.
Just my thoughts. |

No loner on tree 100% makes it the choice to me.
Having a handful of dorfs that don't suck now makes them exceptionally sturdy now with a good amount of guard. The buff to the catcher alongside all this makes the team extremely strong. The buffs to throw teammate works better with the tree too if you like that option. |

Don't forget that these 'new' dorfs don't have S access on primary, so guard got very costly for them now in both SPP's & TV.
Oh, & TREEMAN, cuz they rule! |

yeah but now Guard is more costly, isn't it better to have the Guard bigguy be a more mobile one to get that needed Guard where it needs to be? (or what else do you give the big guys? Grab tree?) |

Ogre for me. The Dorfs will be my LOS boys, ogre a semi-mobile roadblock. Tree is sloooooow and rerolls for takeroot sounds painfully expensive |

I´m playing currently OWA with Tree. I have been also a Ogre player (I love that team). I do not know what to say. I mean, if you play in a league and toy can put any skill that allows your tree to remove the roots (e.g diving tackle), its a good option, the tree will allow you to control the area where it is located, but it can be a headache.
Ogres can be very frustrating but afer several matches, I´d rather prefer Ogre instead of trre.
I´m talking about 2020 edition. In 0225, as some players do not have loner things can be quite different. |

Valid point. Guard on the dorf blockers will now cost 10spps/50k. I think I'll still, at least, get one w/ guard when using OWA in a league setting. |
