Ah I wasnt criticizing the tone. I was using particular language "malice" because thats the word the rhetorical razor uses. Its in the same family as like Occams razor "the simplest solution using the fewest assumptions is usually the best when comparing competing hypotheses"
Didn't mean to say you were accusing them of maliciousness, Hanlons razor is more to say that assuming negative actions were done intentionally really overestimate humans abikity to predict the outcomes of their actions.
Ultimately intent matters a lot less than outcomes but understanding intent can help provide context for the situation that encouraged the bad outcome.
I just threw out a reasonable hypothetical of time crunch to show how that razor works. |

| I think they figured out with their other game systems that not good rules but constant change (within a quasi monopoly) keeps players engaged.
The goal is not to produce the best possible BB but to change it frequently.
They will be adding/changing rosters in the future on a regular basis. Some will be overpowered on release so that all competitive player want to try them others will be just cute models. And then inevitably the next rules edition will drop to shake it all up again. As long things keep happening people will stay engaged.
This thread is a good example. If the game would be just fine there would be no discussion.
Think about the amount of social media exposure you get when you give people something to complain about versus just a good product.
This all works because Jervis Johnsons basis of the game is genius and the IP/lore is beloved by many.
But still I think it was really bad management that not enough time or effort was spend on proofreading / editing the rule book.
I mean RAW if you want to be overly correct the 6 always succeeds rule should not be applied, because it says if a "player" rolls a 6 but in their own terminology it should be "coach" as "players" never roll dice anyway. |

OMG I'm doing a RPG within an RPG as a comedy game, I have to have a joke like that.
"Yes, I can see that you rolled a 4, but what did your character roll, and how can we infer your character's character's roll from this one? Give me a moment."
<consults accordion chart affixed to screen panel no. 5>
"Hmmm... Yes, I see. Xolthar the Ravenous seems to have rolled a 4. His character misses the blow. Sorry." |
