Glad they found a home in tournament play. My focus is more on leagues and they feel very bad in that context.

Correct ^ leagues and open divisions flings and gobbos are in an awful spot. Gnomes screwed a little but the fox is still awesome at least.

Goblins are still where I'd expect stunties to be in a league setting though: mostly self destructing but it's funny.

Possibly. I just despise starting tackle from a game design point of view. It just creates super hard counters straight out the box, especially as many of the teams gained the skill for FREE and they have Block too, an elite skill which they got discounted heavily... Too many teams have players with too many skills now... I preferred the game when starting rosters had fewer skills and room to develop. It makes life pretty grim for Gobbos and flings too.

Good. Gobbos and Flings can do one.

That's because most of those skills would never be selected. So, if they aren't assigned directly, you'll never see them.

That will likely be the fate of half of the “Devious” skills (unless it's no more).

For example:
Violent innovator: you earn more spp, but now, you need more SPP to lvl up. So in fact, you have essentially up your TV, the opposing coach might be grateful to you for that.

Yeah, no one was going to choose fend or punt as their first skill, but this adds flavor to various teams, makes weaker players stronger, but in small ways. Honestly I like these adjustments.

That said, something I only learned recently is that Eye Gouge works on chain pushes, so best to avoid getting your zombie chain pushed into one of your other players if you don't want to eye gouge your own players (a chain push treats the chain pushed player as pushing the player they are displacing, and eye gouge goes off when they push a player, so unless GW FAQs otherwise you can eye gouge your own team if you're not careful). So yeah, I don't think people are going to be going out of their way to take that one unless it comes baked into a player's skill list.

that's not true... For the majority of added skills players have been given more tier 1 skills (assuming Block is tier S), things like tackle, Diving Tackle, Stand Firm... most of these aren't edge case skills.

Sure there are a few exceptions that fit your description. e.g fumblerooski, HMP and diving catch on Pro Elfs... but I'd rather they just didn't have those skills. Especially Fumblerooski as its added a tax to the team. There are a few other examples, like eye gouge, again, rather the skill didn't exist especially as it adds more annoying tokens to the board. Punt... rather the skill didn't exist. and so on... its just in game clutter. Imp Nobs did not need Pro, the team was fine without that addition. Safe hands is a pointless skill on Welfs... should be removed from the game... the game would benefit from returning to more basic streamlined rosters, and the removal of a LOAD of pointless skills... But that's not a stunty thing

I'd like to aruge that Pro Elves are just missing some more nonsense like leap to become a Harlem Globetrotters style team that does nonsense filled plays. And I would have fun with that even if I didn't win often because the times you make some nonsense works always makes a more fun story than "and then I passed and scored."

Pro Elfs are... or rather were. my favourite proper team (i mostly play(ed) flings and gobbos). I loved PElfs simple elegance. The last 2 editions have just made them much worse in flavour, character and ability. It's really sad.

They are one of the oldest races in the game, just so you know... Dating back to 2nd edition. they're meant to represent a classic Blood Bowl elf team.

But anyway... back to discussing Stunties..

Ogres I think came out of it okay. Break tackle and +Ag is an easily obtainable combo now... makes them quite threatening. I think they're in a reasonably good place for a "stunty team"

That's why the rest of my message focuses on the Devious branch, which deals with goblins.

yeah, I discussing the meaning of the post...

Devious skill are utter trash and the games was better for that skill tree not existing. It could have been a good idea. But its implementation is atrocious.

There are some gems in there, like sabotuer (great for ball & chain, or chainsaw players), but I would have loved it if stab was a devious skill instead of a trait.
