That's why the rest of my message focuses on the Devious branch, which deals with goblins.

yeah, I discussing the meaning of the post...

Devious skill are utter trash and the games was better for that skill tree not existing. It could have been a good idea. But its implementation is atrocious.

There are some gems in there, like sabotuer (great for ball & chain, or chainsaw players), but I would have loved it if stab was a devious skill instead of a trait.

no, no one will ever take them if they are playing to be competitive or trying to win

Goblin teams in league I could see using sabotuer because there's not a lot of other things to really give some of your secret weapon players and it beats buying new ones constantly, but I get that it brings your TV up and some folks just never want to ever give stunties anything ever because it ruins their low TV.

And I wouldn't claim that people who take them don't want to win, just that the way they want to win is different than what is considered the most optimal. If you've heard of MtG's psychographic profiles you'd know that there is more ways to approach playing and pursue the win than just taking the most mechanically perfected team. Not everyone who plays this game is a Spike after all. Especially not among Stunty coaches.

Hot take: good Devious Skills would have been even worse.

I have tried to come up with Devious Skills you would like to have on a player.
My conclusion:
Considering TV efficiency and the cost of stat ups, skills you would like to have must be really GOOD, thus having a big impact on the game state.
Devious skills mainly center around fouling. Fouling is by design a rather swingy action. Good fouling skills will lead to more fouling and encourage a game plan based on removals. Those outcomes would also not be liked by a lot of coaches.

it could have been in theory... but it wasn't

giving people unique interesting skill trees in theory could work out well. But it needs really careful planning and a lot of thought...

this aint that Laughing

Yeah, but unique interesting skills that are devious or centre around fouling could also work out bad for a lot of coaches who don't like that aspect of the game. If you are interested I could send you my ideas (or post them to the forum but not today)

In fact, I would have liked to see more variety.

For example, "Hit & Run" should have been a DEVIOUS skill.
(and “Frenzy” makes me think of a bad guy rather than a regular gamer)

An interesting team rule for gnomes would have been that elite skills cost them only +5K (instead of 10).

About snotling's Pump Wagon, this rule would have been more elegant than remove secret weapon.

Replaceable crew:
The coach may avoid a sent-off to this player by sending off one of his own "insignificant" players instead. If later in the match, the pump wagon earns SPP, the player who was sent off in his place, earns the same amount of SPP.

Or for Stunty teams in general having skills cost half.

I was just saying it'd be a nice rule for stunties in general. Flings could use that same sort of love.

According to statistics from the Fumbble website, 2010 was the last year Blood Bowl was a balanced game. (Rate stats: First Amazons with 56% ; Last Goblins with 40%)

So my question: what happen between LRB5 and LRB6 ?
2011: Goblins 30%, Halflings and Ogres 28%.

Star Players banned ?
