I was looking at the top orc teams in BBT and noticed that the top 3 were all carrying 2 throwers. I'm assuming it's a movement thing and to free the second blitzer from having to grab tackle because usually one of the throwers had wrestle or wrestle/tackle. I just thought it was weird because all or nearly all of the res orcs (super league, eurobowl training and that NAF tournament coming up) carry 1 thrower, but I guess that's also a cost issue due to the NAF rules that black box players don't need to worry about. |

This. With MA6, he's a good player. He skills more slowly than the others because TDs are only worth 2, but it's what you now get in lieu of two Blitzers to keep the team mobile. |

I use 1 Orc Thrower because I want to keep the TV low, but having 2 for extra mobility makes sense too.
In Season 1 my Thrower failed to get a stat so I fired him. He had Blodge but without AG 2+ is not that good for the TV cost.
I plan to get Leader on the new one and maybe I could use the Goblin as ball carrier, I have to think about that. |

I refuse to pay 50k for an easily-negated skill. |

Yes, I would have not taken Dodge, but I didn't roll +MA/+AG so I took the Secondary.
Fired him later because too expensive.
Since stat boosts are cheaper and easier to get and you can nominate the players, maybe a Goblin could be an alternative ball carrier (cheaper to re-draft too).
I have to play some games to make up my mind. |

2 orc throwers and a leader is 170k tv and 2 line orcs and a reroll is 160k tv. Like if you take leader on one thrower it completely offsets the cost of the second thrower when compared to a line orc |

Yes, but the 2nd Thrower has lower AV than a Lineman and no S access.
If I want 1 more Guard and higher AV I don't take the 2nd Thrower.
I think I should be fine with just 1 Thrower as Leader caddy.
Then I will focus the SPPs on the Goblin to have a freak ball carrier cheaper to re-draft.
That's the plan. |

That's the plan. | 10k and -AV for +MA, +PA, Pass, Sure Hands, and P access, on one guy. It's seriously worth it, because like you said, that Thrower is AV9+ and might not stay in the game. So having a backup matters a lot. |

I am not a dedicated Orc player, so take my oppinion with caution. But I think the Gobbo is exactly that: TTM ammunition for a 1TTD attempt. I would not want to spend a lot of SPP to develop him into a MA8 ball carrier only to see him be crippled failing a landing or going down a Troll's throat.
A leader caddy and a fast carrier are IMO a good way for the Orcs. Even more so keeping in mind the 'replacement' comment of Jack... |

for what it's worth the top 3 bbt orc teams are all
>troll
>2 Bubs
>2 blitzers
>2 Mr. throws
>5 line orcs
>1 goblin
>apo
>some combo of rerolls and a loner to get to 3 or 4 rerolls
nearly every res team in super league, that NAF league that's up on the top bar and eurobowl training has a goblin

it looks like most of the teams who carry 2 throwers are trying to field both throwers for offense and defense, and you are correct in that from the games I've checked out it's pretty common for at least one Mr. throw to be MNG, KO'd or Cas'd and for the team to only have one thrower in the second half |

I occasionally use him for that, but the Gobbo has more functions, because he has Devious primary.

I start that way with 11 players, but once I have my numbers up I tend to go for an offense Thrower who gets Block and stats, and a both-ways Thrower who gets Leader and Block, so I'm less likely to lose a player on defense. Orcs are kinda weird now, because suddenly they want bodies, and they can't afford to care about TV bloat in a lot of formats, which is new. |
