So its been about 6 years since I last checked in on fumbbl, and now there's an entire new ruleset to the game!
So, I am wonder if people generally save up SPP to buy specific skills? do people do random skills? When is it better to do either?
Whats the max number of skills a player can gain? It looks like its 5 skills and one stat increase?
Looks like you can just save up SPP for stat increases, how many people usually end up doing that? Hows the strength of the community these days? |

6 years? Sounds like you missed 2 rulesets (2020 & 2025). Probably not that helpful with regards to your actual question, but such is my way. |

Indeed, I think I did, I'm still pretty much used to whatever the LRB was |

6 upgrades yes.
Stats are common, at least for players that quickly gather spp.
Random skills are seldom worth it. Maybe in a tournament setting you need an edge and want to try...
The community is fairly solid, and the new ruleset being available on Fumbbl has increased games. |

Hi xyon - and welcome back!
There are niche situations where it is worthwhile picking Random skills. I give as example Nurgle Rotters in a league. They struggle to get SPPs, and have a short (but happy, lol) life due to Decay and no Regen or Apoth.
Accordingly, I tend to give Rotters Random skills when they get to 3 SPPs. If they get one that I do not like, I retire them (because Random skills now cost the same in TV as Primary skills). I have done this with 2 Rotters on my current BBT17 Nurgle team: one has Wrestle (a keeper, obviously); the other has Strip Ball (I wondered whether or not to keep him - but he has turned out to be a bit of a star - so I have kept him).
By analogy, there might be other teams that could benefit by the same strategy. Impliedly, they will be cash rich teams, that can afford to retire Linos at will.
Hope that helps! |

It's also worth doing if you're close to redraft and you have some players with 3 or 4 SPP—you can roll for the skill to see if they'll be worth keeping. |

My though is that they won't be worth keeping, whatever skill you got.
1 roll is not too complicated to reach in the next season with a brand new lineman. Keeping one with the added fee cost would be weird. Especially when you can put your 1350 gold on more developped players that you already struggle to keep for another season... But it's just my way of seeing things. |

some teams can use up randoms quite well, like orc linemen, they get to roll for a random strength skill if they do a random cas, for example, as that is one fast way to get guard
can also be done with other cheap linemen in resilient teams, like rotters, zombies or skeletons as those teams tend to gather a lot of cash to replace the "bad" random, but even then, 2 randoms pick one is great
I dont think anyone should random on a positional |
